We met with Dwayne from Hawk Security to get an estimate for an alarm system in our house. We did not have an alarm system at all in the home so it was a new setup. We thought we were getting a fairly advanced system with a cellular based mother board and with all the windows and doors covered. Dwayne encouraged us that this company was better than some of the other bigger security firms because customer service wasbetter with Hawk. The installation crew showed up a couple of days later and put in the system and that was when the problems started. First, we were told they miscalculated the number of windows and would need to charge us more (100 dollars more). Next we had a "water bug" installed near the hot water heated which is supposed to go off when the unit leaks. Well, it started to go off immediately and no one could figure out how to fix it. So they had to turn it off. Also, the people that put in the system did not have the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that we needed. The next day someone came back and tried to fix the water bug. It still did not work and he still did not know that there were other detectors that needed to be installed. When we called customer service no one seemed to know anything about our system. All in all, it took four separate trips (I had to be off work for each one) for the service men to get the system installed right. And that was only after the head technician went to Radio Shack to get a part to fix the water bug. I was extremely displeased with the fact that no one seemed to be communicating at the company so that when someone came to house they were able to address all the problems at once. Eventually everything was corrected and so far, seems to be working fine. Hopefully, they will come through for us if we ever need them. Additionally, what was supposed to be a very state of the art and user friendly interface is not that great. The remote control systems are nice, but otherwise the system is not very user friendly.
Description of Work: New system installed. We have a cellular based alarm system with all doors and windows covered and a motion detector. We also have a "water bug" which protects the water heater.
