Sam came and picked up the cedar chest and told me it would be 3-4 weeks before he could get to it. But it was about two months before I got it back. Sam had hurt his back and it took a little longer than it would have probably taken otherwise. But the cedar chest looks super. Sam did a great job! :)

Repaired an old bed frame and did a great job. Showed up on time to pick up and return. Very happy and will them again!

The communication of explaining the services was not up to my expectations.

I bought the Angie's List Big Deal in November 2013 intending to get my MCM Broyhill buffet repaired with some damage that it received over the years. Some of the edging had been significantly dinged up and the original veneer was peeling in a few places. One of the drawers was partially crushed during shipment and was unusable. Then the holidays happened and I moved to a new house... so the buffet sat untouched for a few more months. My boyfriend contacted The Wood Doctor, Samuel White, and set up the refinishing and repair of it as a birthday gift for me. At the time, my Angies List Big Deal had expired and was only good for the amount I paid initially. Samuel looked at the pictures my BF provided and gave an initial quote of $700 to do the work. He came out to pick up the piece and revised the quote down to $600 because he realized the pictures made the piece look discolored so he had included an all-over refinish in the initial quote. Then he honored the Angies List Big Deal at the full deal value, saving us $100. I didn't expect this and was very grateful for it. Sam and Loretta (Sam's wife) were very nice, professional, and communicative. Sam gave us a 3-4 week time frame to finish the job. It ended up taking slightly longer than he said, about 5 weeks, but I didn't mind because there was no rush to get it back. I didn't want to rush a job like this! He delivered the buffet and it looked amazing. The damaged edging was completely repaired and stained to match. It was so well done that I had a difficult time remembering where the damage had been. The chipped and peeling veneer was completely repaired, also nearly indistinguishable from the original veneer. He repaired the crushed drawer and it is able to be used again. The buffet has been my favorite piece of furniture and now it was completely back to it's original glory! I love it even more. I will definitely call Sam and Loretta when the next job comes up. I have a table and chairs from the same dining set that could use a little love. Maybe a Christmas present?.... :)

It went well. We had a bit of difficulty scheduling due to the holidays, but we were able to work it out. He made every effort to make sure the service was scheduled. He was professional and his communication was good. They made every effort to contact me to deliver the barstool. I was very pleased and would recommend them to others.

As far as his professionalism and promptness, he was on time. He didn't push his business but he did tell me what he could do and he was able to tell me what would look better than what I had.

I have had these 3 pieces of antique furniture for 35 years and I bought them from my elderly Greek landlords in New York. The finish was in bad shape and one of my furbabies had left his chew marks on the edges. When I received an Angie's Deal List and checked out Samuel's coupon, once I saw examples of his work I knew he was the one to work on these tables! The Wood Doctor did an excellent job and I am very satisfied with his quality of work!! I highly recommend him to restore your most cherished antiques!

Sam was very punctual and professional and did a great job on my antique pieces.

The antique dresser had been painted multiple times and The Wood Doctor stripped all of the paint off and refurbished the dresser so that it looks practically brand new. We loved the work he did and would highly recommend him. He and his wife are a wonderful couple to deal with! He came and picked up the dresser and returned it to us in beautiful condition.

I purchased the Angie's List deal on May 25, and Wood Doctor picked it up on June 23. The work was completed, and delivered on July 16 as promised. Sam also helped me reassemble the legs and drawer unit. The desktop looks brand new. Wood Doctor removed the stains, refinished the top to its original finish, and used a polyurethane sealer to help prevent staining in the future. My wife and I are very pleased with how the work turned out, so we will use Wood Doctor in the future and recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

I contacted them THREE times (2 by phone; 1 on the Facebook page) and have yet to receive a response. I'd love spend money with them, but I guess they don't need the sales. Thought about buying their "deal". Glad I didn't now; I'd be out the $$

He did a super job and had very fair pricing. He completed the work quickly. He completed part of the work at our house and part of it he took with him. The work looks very nice.

He is an amazing gentleman with knowledge and love of repairing. I would not call another person to deal with my antiques or any wood issue I will have in the future. He did an amazing job.

I purchased deal over a weekend. Company sent a response. I responded with my phone # asking them to call to make an appointment. Didn't hear from them but found their business at my door. They had shown up without contacting me. I called & let a message. They called back saying they didn't have anymore appointments until July. That isn't anyway to conduct business. This seems to match the comments about this company on your site.

He's very nice. The refinishing went well but the repair part not so much. I should have called him back and I didn't, I'm pretty sure if I would have he would've come back and fixed it but I was dealing with my elderly father at the time. He came when he said he was going to come, he was a little slow but I wasn't in a hurry. He's just the one man, he is very polite, and he worked here so it was very clean.

Good! That was about 2 to 3 months ago. It was maybe $200 something.

Vendor did not remember what I wanted. The chair arms were perfect, but he got some dark marks on the expensive silk upholstery on one chair. He offered to remove it, but I'm afraid to let him work on it. So I'm going to have to pay another professional to do it. He was to refinish the buffet to match the chairs (making it darker) and instead he made it light er than it was. The workmanship is OK, but on the nightstand does not match the finish like the other nightstand and he had plenty of examples from which to work. He has offered to redo the buffet and I may let him do that. He said to wait a month and call him as his business will be a bit slower then. Very nice man, but quality is not what I expected.

He was fantastic. My furniture is gorgeous. He stained it and sanded it; it was impeccably done. It is so beautiful. His knowledge stood out to me. I have an antique desk and the rollers were broke, he said he could fix it and it is just fantastic and perfectly done and beautiful; it?s better than Lowe?s to begin with. All the furniture he were antiques and it all turned out well. He and his wife are both courteous and kind. But I like his knowledge the most because there were certain things I didn?t know and he knows how to do it. I had an English table which he did a great job with. He also refurbished a tea service cart that has been in our family and it was nicely done and it?s better than a new one, it just so beautiful. He is timely. It took longer than what he told but he let me know why and what was going on. He kept me informed. The completed work was beautiful. He gave me a fair deal because I had a lot of things done. I can?t be happier with the job he did.

My wife sent him pictures of the chairs. He gave her a quote and set a date and time to pick up the chairs. He showed up at scheduled time, took the chairs and gave us a return date. He asked for 1/2 of total payment at that time. He took a little longer than promised to do the work but returned them in excellent shape. Would definitely use him again.

They were very kind. They were cajole and very gracious with the quote. They were timely.

It was great and they did a good job. The price was fine because I paid it. It was good quality work.

Went well. Before old age caught up with me I was a good finish carpenter and hobbyist woodworker. I found the Wood Doctor competent and knowledgeable..The work was done well, on time and per estimate.. I will use him again.

He made sure it stayed original and true to it's age. He brought out the hand painted figures on the wood. He did not have to repaint them. Mr. Samuel White is very conscientious. I have a 5th Avenue dinette set. Size for a small breakfast nook. Wood Doctor is going to rework the wood arm rests on each chair and have them upholstered. I am very glad I found the Wood Doctor.
