Mike Barnes, I found the letter I wrote to the owner Keith out of Waco, I kept a copy of this letter on my computer. Below was my letter to him....... Dear Keith, I’m not the type of person to complain,,,,, But I can’t let this slide without you the “owner” knowing what happened to my wife and I yesterday from out of your Bryan Superstore Discount Floors. My wife and I saved our hard earned money for two years for new carpet, we were carful on where to buy and out of many local carpet stores we bought and paid for carpet and flooring from your Bryan Discount Floor store. We spent approx.. $2400.00. this was in mid-January this year of 2015. Yesterday my wife was home for lunch and she gets a call from Mike Barnes at the Superstore in Bryan. Using an obnoxious voice and attitude he proceeds to tell my wife we didn’t pay for the carpet “lie”, and says he’s been trying to contact us for three months, also “lie”, we have caller ID and I went back to January 1rst in our caller ID records and there were no calls from your Superstore. As you can only imagine this upset my wife tremendously. As she’s trying to digest this rude phone call from your employ he takes it up a notch and says he’s going to personally come to our residence and “rip the carpet out himself”, yes you heard me correctly, he threatened my wife of 23 years that he’s coming into our home and rip up the carpet out. She tried to explain to him that we paid cash and check and the check had cleared and she has proof. Barnes wants nothing to do with this because of course he thinks he right and wants a fight. After he got his facts right he found out that we indeed paid you and owed your store nothing….. When the call came in on our caller ID, her first thought was “how nice the carpet Superstore is calling to make sure we are happy with their product and called to thank us, boy were we surprised. So what do we want? “Nothing” Why did I write you? To make you aware that we were and still are extremely ****** off about what happened to my wife and I. After saving our money for carpet and just starting to enjoy the carpet, this really took the wind out of our sails on our new purchase.

I must admit I find this very interesting that this would be posted almost 21/2 years later. My store sold Mr and Mrs [Member Name Removed]some flooring that they would have installed. We were providing parts only. We were paid with a check that was turned down by the bank after the goods were delivered to the customer. Our salesperson tried to contact the Walkers for a week to get the situation rectified but to our dismay there were no answers or returned calls. From a business stand point this looked like they were dodging us on payment. Finally after a week I was able to get with Mrs [Member Name Removed]and informed her of our issue. I told Mrs [Member Name Removed]that if this isn't cleared up quickly I will have to take this "downtown" to the authorities. It is this I think that made her think I said I was going to take her carpet out of her house. We would never do that and no one from this company would ever say that to a customer. I later had a message that her husband was angry that someone had called and said that we were going to "rip her carpet out" if she didn't get us paid. When I heard that I was upset to hear that she thought I said that so I called her and her husband back to apologize and set the record straight. When I talked to her she seemed to be alright but when I talked to him I was continually cursed and yelled at. He didn't want to speak to me. I truly get it. I would be upset if I thought someone had said that to my wife. Only problem is that it didn't happen that way. I believe that the fact that their check didn't make it through the bank was purely an accident on their part. However, when dealing with that amount of money it is better to be sure than hope that the transaction will go through. It's funny that the check did finally go through after I spoke with the Walkers.

Hey Mike Barnes glad you thought the whole situation was funny, very professional of you, actually what happened was your accounting screwed up gave you false information on our payment, and yes you told my wife you would personally come and rip our carpet out stop lying about that, everything you wrote in your review was pretty close to a lie you just wanted to save face. I notice I'm not the only one that wrote you a bad review, I just call it like I see it....

I was very unhappy with the flooring salesman. We are looking to put hardwood down in most of our house- it'd be 1800+sqft. The first time, I had to wait a while because he kept making or receiving calls. The second time, they were a little more helpful but I left feeling like they were just plain rude. The third time, the guy was a ****. He kept questioning us on our choices saying, "are you sure you want that?" I tried to be gracious, but it frustrated me. We hadn't told him the size of the project, but he implied we have a small house! Rude. We were there with our 2 small children. We eventually became frustrated enough with his attitude that we decided to leave. I really wanted to like this company. They seem to have decent prices. I just can't bring myself to work with them on such a large project, though. It's going to be a large investment (around $14k) and I don't trust their customer service. I can only imagine what it'd be like if there was some kind of problem. We are looking elsewhere. I will find a company I feel I can trust from the beginning.

I've used them in the past. I used them for the carpet that I had on the floor for years. I was just really disappointed in their customer service. So there was no way I was going to go with them, it was too risky. Whereas the customer service of the company I went with was incredibly good. Their price was slightly better, but not enough to take the risk. I ended up paying the other company just under $7000. What Discount Floors quoted me was under that by approximately $500. It was not enough to take the risk. I had wood laminate put down in major parts of my house and then carpet in the two remaining bedrooms. So I picked out a laminate with them and then said, "Now, here are my parameters for carpet that I'm looking for." The representative just said, "Well, there is the carpet sample. Have at it." No help, whatsoever. I went back again because on my own I picked out a carpet that I just thought, "This is more expensive than is necessary and deeper pile that I need. Let me see what else I can find." I got a bit more help from another representative. But while I was there, the original guy was there when I went back to find a better carpet sample for my need. He was very polite. He was sitting at his desk and he said, "I've got a customer I'm working on right now and another in the store." So like I'd be third in line. "Do you mind waiting?" I said, "No, that's fine." Then he had, to their credit, another salesman assist me in looking at other carpet samples. But then he got a phone call. The receptionist went to him and said, "You have a call from so and so." The guy said, "Well, tell him I'll call him back." She must have said, "You need to take this call. This guy is really angry." Because then I overheard his end of the call in which he was going, "Sir, I'm not trying to put you off" So clearly it was a really angry customer. That, together with my experience just sealed it. There was no way I was going to take a risk. I think even without that angry phone call, I just was reluctant. Dealing with the public is difficult. So if it were just the phone call that would have been one red flag, but I already had my own red flag in dealing with them. Whereas the company I went with, I had a similar thing. I had picked out a carpet and then I thought, "This carpet is slightly more expensive than the laminate. So it must be of higher quality." So I called the woman I had dealt with and I said, "I would like to see what some alternatives would be that would cover my needs" Because I have cats, I wanted something that was going to be not only stain resistant but would hide any stain residue as well. When I went over there after that call, she had picked out some samples. She had them ready for me. She was with another customer, so another sales person helped me look through those. Everything I requested they did. I'm real sensitive to chemical odors. So I know new carpet with the glue and with chemicals and all of that was going to be just really bad. Once I signed the contract, I called back and said, "Is there anyway you can air out the carpet?" She said, "Let me figure out how to do that. We'll do our best." She was concerned about unrolling it in their warehouse because it would get dirty. But when the men brought it in, it was folded. It was not rolled. Clearly, it had been aired out. Somehow the fumes dissipated pretty quickly. I was just very pleased with them. The guy from Discount Floors who came to measure was certainly punctual and professional enough.

I can certainly understand your frustration with getting help at the store. It sounds as though you came in when our store was extremely busy as it is during the summer months. I know that when I visit a store and have questions I want answers "now". It sounds like our salesmen tried to address you but it could have been better. I hope that you would come back and give us another chance. Thank you.
