We finally fired them after several rounds of lies, consistently missed deadlines, and poor workmanship. As of now, they refuse to give us their insurance information to file a claim, so we have to sue them. I paid for an inspector to come out and take a look at the work, and he could not insult their abilities enough. Nice to have confirmation that they were the unqualified bunch I believed them to now be. MANY MANY code violations in plumbing (Which Joe Landreth is not licensed to do), violations in framing, and more. We had a report prepared to itemize how back his work was, and I kid you not, it's 113 pages. I'm happy to provide anyone a copy of this report as I have it hosted online. If you are considering J and S Improvements or PRO MOW, do yourself a favor and look at this report first. I have now been out of my home for 6 months, and the damage he caused is going to cost about $50k to fix. Anything he was paid was too much, and we now must sue him to recover what it will take to just fix his work. Very sad how it has worked out, and very disappointed he has presented himself as a Christian business person and former pastor. He actually said to me he could not believe we were treating a friend this way. I kindly informed him we could not believe he would treat us this way, and crap all over our house with his poor workmanship. SEE YOU IN COURT JOE. You will lose. Please contact me for a link to the report. It is specifically requested here to not leave links to the web. My email is steve@thenorrishouse.com I will also make sure Joe Landreth is found online in several places, PRO MOW, and J and S Improvements, so that anyone looking for info on these guys will see exactly how unqualified they are to do the work they are bidding on. It's a shame. *Update* Since I was not able to previously provide pictures as an addition to this report, I suggest typing "Crappy Contractor" into Google to see a site dedicated to the fine work of Joe Landreth. Any doubt you may have had after reading our report will be erased when you see the absolutely embarrassing photos of the work he left behind. He has caused my family a great deal of time, frustration, and money as we have to rip out his work and do it over to code and industry standard. He deserves to lose future business over his business practices. I hope more people speak up about contractors like this. Had I been able to find out anything about him online like this, I could have saved myself more headaches than I can count.
Description of Work: In late January of 2011, our house flooded due to a freeze in Fort Worth while we were out of town. We returned to two holes in our ceiling pouring water that had been running for days. With some encouragement, our insurance company stepped up to the plate to help us get things repaired. Since the damage was extensive, we ended up deciding that "While we're in there" we'd make some improvements as well. We selected a contractor that was referred to us and had previously done a small job for us for about $10k. They were a bit messy on that go round, charged us to clean up the mess they created separately, and to this day have left some concrete forms and paint overspray unattended to. Not enough to deter us from using them, but still a warning sign. The drywall needed to be replaced around the entire house from 2' down, and much more in other areas. Ceilings needed to be replaced where they were bowed. The tile needed to be replaced after buckling in the kitchen, entry, and bathrooms. Carpet, paint, texture, some framing, electrical, and some other items had to be addressed. Our new agreement was in the range of $50k, and was a disaster from start to finish. They did not show for a long time, did not provide material as agreed upon, so we took that portion over. The quality of work was embarrassing. The lies flew around like no one's business. They did shoddy work and insulted us for questioning the quality and asked about our qualifications to come to that conclusion. Nearly had a drop down drag out in our front yard for calling them out for their poor work. Had to fire them twice. NICE PEOPLE, but terrible contractors. Let them stick to mobile home work, but DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let them touch your custom home.
