Our back patio looks onto a large greenbelt facing east. The sun is fierce across the back of our house in the morning and throughout the afternoon as well. To address the issue of the blinding light and heat on the back patio, we began to explore motorized shades. We met with four vendors and finally settled on The Shading Company owned by Mark Lopez. His is a fairly new business, and we originally had some concerns about contracting with a newer company, especially since one of the more established competing vendors has a good reputation. However, Mark Lopez went above and beyond to obtain our business and his pricing was very competitive. He came to the house and spent a great deal of time explaining exactly how the
shades work, how they?re manufactured and installed, how to operate them, and the warranty details. Mark Lopez was professional, was responsive, clearly takes pride in his product, and he earned our trust. At our request, before we made any commitment, he even sent his electrician out to insure that there would be no problem with wiring through the attic.
The installation went perfectly, the shade is attractive, we?re impressed with the quality, and it works like a charm. The shade is operated with a remote control. In the morning we start out with the shade down several feet to block out the rising sun while we sit on the patio. Later in the morning we put the shade all the way down to block out the sun entirely for the rest of the day. Although sun shades do cut down on visibility to some extent, we have found it to be minimal. AND, the drop in temperature within the house is amazing.
Motorized sun shades are expensive; however, our shade has greatly improved our quality of life and we feel it was well
worth the money. We couldn?t be more pleased.
