They're a solid company from what I can tell and their strongest suit might be how efficient they work together as a team. They got in, did the work, cleaned up, and were gone without much fuss. It seemed like they had the whole process down to a science. Had some problems related to their initial work which I brought to their attention, and they came back and fixed 'em without complaint. It's unreasonable to expect first round perfection every time, imo, even from a team which appears to be a cohort of superhuman mutant class energy efficiency experts. The biggest lesson I got from all this is that it's a tough job what these guys do. Between city regs, homeowner preferences, common sense, and financial realities, you have to strike a balance overall. This is not a service you can just DIY with a couple of bags of insulation and a rented blower from Home Depot. Lord, no. These people actually have the skills and training to knock out in 90 minutes what an average suburban dad might schedule for a weekend and maybe finish up by the following spring.

My house was built in 1979 and the AC ducts were still the original ones and the house had very little attic insulation. The AC ducts were leaking conditioned air into the attic and were literally disintegrating in places. I purchased the house this past winter and can only imagine the electric bills in the past.
I was very happy with their service. They got the work done promptly and cleaned up their mess. All employees were very polite. They even fixed a small issue with a prior AC installation for free while they were there.
CSI calculates the energy rebates that you are eligible for and files all of the paperwork for you. I received rebate checks from Austin Energy and Texas Gas.

The very first time we called Frank he was here within a matter of a few hours. On the day scheduled for the major work the crew was here early in the morning. They were polite, worked very hard and cleaned up after the work was done. In addition to adding insulation to the attic, weather-stripping was added to the outside doors; areas under the sink were sealed; the furnace was cleaned and when all the work was done the whole system was checked for leaks. Two weeks after the work was done, Frank returned with someone from Austin Energy who checked out the work and that was when we paid for the work. We've already received one rebate check for about $500 and are expecting another one. We were so pleased with the work that we recommended Conservation Services to our son-in-law who was about to have the same work done by another company.

The owners and employees were some of the nicest I've worked with. They were extremely respectful and diligent around the house. A few things didn't get done quite right the first time, but they were very quick to make corrections. In the end the airflow in the rooms is where we want it and our electric bills should be lower due to better sealing.

I got a bid on insulating the whole house. I chose only to do part of it due to financial constraints. I was told that I could finish up the hose with them for the remainder of the bid in the next several months. I had the city look at the work that was done and was told that the insulation was not at R-38 which is what I had paid for. I have now contacted them to finish up the work and to take a look at the areas that were supposedly not done to R-38 and they are saying they would have to re-do the areas already done and that it would not be the same price. In talking to Frank he says he gets 50 calls and day and is just too busy. he was very unprofessional and only wants jobs that will pay thousands. I would certainly not use this company. I am looking to make my house more energy efficient by making these improvements. It is just a shame that these contractors are out there taking advantage of the situation and people.
Response from CONSERVATION SERVICES
"Unfortunately this customer wanted us to be dishonest and tell the City that this area of her home had just recently been insulated in order to qualify for the rebates, She contacted us over five months after the area over the additon to her home was insulated by our company. She also had another contractor out to complete the air infiltration after we insulated, that is what brought the R level of the insulation down from R38. Air infiltration is always supposed to be done prior to insulating and in conjuction with the insulation in order to qualify the insulation for a rebate. After speaking with Austin Energy it was determined that she was too late to get the rebates on the insulation, as it must be done in addition to the air infiltration and within a certain time frame. When explaining this to the customer she became very upset and let me know that the City would have no idea that we had done the insulation over five months prior. We are an honest company and refused to do that. I'm sorry that we were unable to help this customer understand this."

This was the first time we had used their services. We went to the city of Austin and got info on their energy program and they recommended this company. They were knowledgeable and had a good crew. He did not require payment until we got the rebate from the city.
