Description of Work: Angie's List does a poor job in vetting the coupons that are promoted on your site. Having a disclaimer stating that you are not responsible for services rendered does not make you less culpable when the "coupon" is just a bait and switch mechanism employed by the business. | |I purchased a $199 coupon for a "deck restoration." Best Austin Handyman sent out a field agent who upon seeing my deck said that there wasn't really much work to be done; boards didn't need to be restored, it just needed to be power-washed and repainted. | |I was quoted a price of $316 for a power-wash and $750 for repainting (price of paint not included). The $199 I paid for the coupon was going to be deducted from the total bill and they applied a 10% discount. The 10% discount was a wash as most contractors/ handyman will factor in a small discount after they inflate their prices. | |The estimate was baffling to me considering that the coupon I purchased was for a deck RESTORATION. I understood that some ancillary fees/ costs could be incurred above the price of the coupon, but after all was said and done, I just didn't understand what the point of the coupon was. It didn't save me any money and it prevented me from shopping around because I wouldn't be refunded the $199 I paid for the coupon if I went elsewhere. | |Angie's List needs to understand that whether they like it or not, coupons promoted on their site will suggest that there was some vetting done, considering the nature of the site. You guys are supposed to guide us toward good, honest, reliable, service. Your coupons should be coupons! | |Needless to say, I will not renew my subscription to Angie's List and I'll let people know not to waste their money on a subscription either as the coupons you present are not really coupons. This fact makes me question your service as a whole.

Description of Work: They did various repairs at the house. The work was done quickly and efficiently. The two repairmen were professional and courteous. In addition they dismantled and hauled away an old wooden playscape. The fee for hauling the old wood seemed high, but they said that this was the charge imposed by the disposal site. Definitely recommend.

Description of Work: laid grout in tile cracks near back door - didn't advise it was still wet so when to open the door it got messed up. Somewhat sloppy job on replacing rug with wood flooring in closet.

Description of Work: Dan & Melissa were great. They sheduled this job with Mike who came out first to evaluate the scope. On the date we agreed on, Mike came out and completed the 4 hours of wood rot repair in my guest bathroom. The job went smooth and I am happy to report that I will use Best Austin Handyman again in the future.

Description of Work: Signed up for a day's service (7hrs). They did not show up nor call. I called them about 15 times before they returned call.

Description of Work: The guy was friendly, prompt and polite. He was on time. He went to buy supplies and while that took a correct amount of time, he sure bought the cheap lumber. It was cracked and warped. I asked for pressure treated lumber and he did not buy that.

Description of Work: Best Austin Handyman did a great job on our repairs, and made rescheduling easy when repeated freezes and rains washed out our original repair dates. We have recommended them to friends and will be using them again for other repair work around the house.

Description of Work: This was a Big Deal for $75.00 for 2 hours of handyman service. They did a lot of different types of handyman work and carpentry was the primary work. They did a little plumbing and electrical. The service was great. We will call them again when needed.

Description of Work: The main job was to make a bed wedge to be put under the mattress. First the wedge was not made per my measurements, but they came again and fixed it free another day. I'm pretty satisfied with the final results. |One problem was they tried to send me a person who doesn't have a truck in the first place. I repeatedly mentioned I needed a person with a truck because I wanted him to get materials from a store. (But I also mentioned the person who I used before.) They should've known he doesn't have a truck. Therefore, I had to rearrange the service date. Anyway my ratings are for the business but not for the person who actually performed the service. I think their coordination is off.

Description of Work: We called the Austin handyman to check some previous Tub/tile work done by a different contractor that seemed to be deteriorating. Tyler confirmed the deterioration, called in their resident tile expert Derrick for a consult, confirmed the poor previous work, showed us and explained thoroughly to us what was done and why it was deteriorating, what needed to be done, did the work over a period of two vists 3 days apart to allow for curing of the grout and did a superb job. Both Tyler and Derrick showed utmost professionalism, were engaging, pleasant, thorough and quick. The results are better than we could possibly have hoped for. We will call them again for any further work we need done without any hesitation. Great people, and a great find for us!

Description of Work: I asked them to fix a hole in the wall that was there because of a leaky pipe. When the guy got to my house, he said he couldn't do that, so I gave him a number of other things to do, but I wasn't prepared for him to do the other things, so most of my time was taken up with the repairman at Home Depot buying the products & maybe 1/3 of the time actually doing the work. I had to hire someone else from the company to come finish what the first guy started & pay more than the original price. | |I also had the company do some painting & I'm still getting paint --small drops--off of my dishwasher & floor & door knobs

Description of Work: They replaced some rotten wood on the side of my house. They came on time and finished the job quickly. I used one of those two hours for the price of one coupons and they finished in 2 hours.
