I would hire this group again. They showed up on time with employees that knew what they needed to know to do the job properly.
Description of Work: Handyman installed my sauna. I had hired them for 7 hours. It took abit longer than the manufacturer indicated installation should take but they did a good job. The owner came along at no charge and seemed really interested in making sure his crew preformed professionally.

I'm not fond of mice and wouldn't even open the closet door. I had gotten 2 hours for $75. I called and they said they could clean it out. He took everything out, checked the coats (and pockets) to see if any rodents remained. No sign of mice, thank goodness. It took about 1 1/2 hours, and he went over some additional sheetrock repairs for the future. Overall, I'm very pleased to have my closet empty but wish I could have used it for actual handy man work! Will definitely call them for the sheetrock repair in the future.
Description of Work: I'm embarrassed to say, but I needed to have a closet cleaned out that I had seen a mouse in.

Were prompt and courteous. They thoroughly inspected all of my ceiling fans and replaced one that needed repair. They even re-balanced an additional fan for free. They setup a canopy over my hot tub and did a great job securing it. They were great to work with and I have already scheduled another appointment for them to do some additional work at my house.
Description of Work: Hung a ceiling fan and setup a canopy in my backyard.
The service estimator was named Patrick and he was an exceptionally confidence inspiring estimator. good at inspiring confidence. He measured the room and the work to be done with a full description of what might be expected when the work crew came by to perform the job. Patrick estimated that the work would take between 4-6 hours. A three man work crew appeared and our first impression was that they appeared to be extremely young. The crew chief assured us this was an easy job to hang the cabinets however after 14 hours, it was obvious they lacked experience in placing these cabinets and relocating the electrical outlets. They left much debris on the new carpets, they left rough finished drywall and the shelves were not painted. There were residual pencil marks all over the walls that were not cleaned nor painted over. There were "extra pieces" from the installation of the cabinets left over. They did not know what these pieces were for. After 14 hours they left. We photographed the workmanship and Patrick called to ask our experience with the work. We told him that he needed to see for himself. It turns out that they installed the end cabinetry UPSIDE DOWN. Patrick couldn't apologize enough and promised to make good. He had a new and obviously experience handyman come by with a journeyman. They removed all the cabinets, rehung them, repainted the shelves, re-plumbed the electrical outlets, finished the dry wall. It took approximately 8 more hours to correct and repair the work the first crew did. At the end of the day the work was BEAUTIFUL and I would gladly use Patrick (the Estimator) and Corey (the Handyman) again.
Description of Work: We had purchased custom cabinets from a US manufacturer and needed installation of theses cabinets and the subsequent relocation of several electrical outlets, In addition, we required the hanging of wall shelves and the painting thereof, all within the same room.

See above for all the work they did. The two men who did the work on the pillar did not come prepared to do that work. They were to pick up the wood, but they were in a small car. I had to go to Home Depot in our truck, get the wood, and take it to house. The one man who seemed to be the supervisor of the job, did not always follow or do what we had requested be done. I talked to the main supervisor in the office and expressed our concerns and disappointment regarding these two workers. Gerrod, the crew chief said he would come to do the rest of the work and bring at least one helper with him. Gerrod did come and did a great job with the rest of repairs. Dos and Don'ts. Because of past experiences with repairmen, my husband or I were there all the time while they did the repairs. We were the supervisors of the work on our house. We did have everything in writing, but there were still some questions about how we wanted it done. If you can be at the place where the work is being done, that is the best thing to do. We were not in the house when they repaired the kitchen island because one of the occupants was sick in bed with the flu.
Description of Work: They came out and gave us a cost estimate of the repairs we needed done on one of our rental houses. They did the following: 1. Removed, replaced, sealed and painted the wood on one of the pillars that had been water damaged and was rotten 2. Removed, replaced, sealed and painted the bottom portion of the siding on the back of the house They sawed off about 3 ft. of siding on the back of the house that had been water damaged by the sprinkler system. They replaced the siding, prepped it and painted it. 3. Removed one panel on the kitchen island which had water damage. 'Replaced the panel, put a primer on all of the island, then painted it. They had to remove the electric plug, then replace it. When they replaced it they did not get it done right. None of the plugs in the kitchen that were connected to this wiring would work. They sent an electrician out and he got the wiring done right.
Shawn was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Very happy with Shawn and his services. Have them scheduled to come back out for another project. Dan, the project scheduler and man of many different hats is also great!

I called Austin Handyman owned by a man called Dan to schedule an appointment. I had bought a $75 deal on Angie's List for 2 hours of handyman work originally worth $150. I was very concerned of not damaging the drywall of my brand new house to hang a heavy picture. Also, I have expensive cherry cabinets and was very particular that to install hardware and drill holes on them, there should not be any damage to the cabinets. Dan was cordial and did his best to schedule an appointment in a 2 week window I gave him, that too for a Saturday morning. Luckily he found an independent contractor called Sean Henry to do the job. On Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, Sean arrived on time. He wanted an overview of the services to be done. He took 30 mins to hang the heavy picture. He was precise and methodical in his approach and the picture hangs beautifully now. For the cabinets, he started drilling holes after precise measuring, collecting sawdust in his own little bucket (that was so thoughtful !), cleaned up after himself as much as possible, gave valuable drilling knowledge in case we wanted to drill by ourselves later on. Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of his services. Sean Henry is a thorough, courteous and honest handyman. His work is way more superior than most handymen.
Description of Work: Services Performed - 1) Drive nails to hang a heavy 30 lb picture on interior drywall 2) Install cabinet hardware - knobs and pulls - 3) Replace a toilet lid

The team showed up on time and were very courteous. About 30 minutes in - we had paid for two hours which was 2 handymen for one hour, so halfway through the total time - I was advised that our exiting ceiling plates would not support fans. I was surprised as our builder - its a new house - advised he had installed the proper supports for fans. I trusted their judgment so one of the handymen began picking up and the other began work on the shower rod. After another 15 minutes or so, I was advised that they hadn't brought the proper drill bits to hang the rod, and I unfortunately didn't have one. So at the end of time, none of the work I requested was completed and the fans were back in their boxes (almost completely unassembled) and I had dirty hand prints on my ceiling. One handyman left and the other, feeling bad, asked if there was anything else I needed done. I came up with a few tasks but was very disappointed. The next day my husband and I opened up the ceilings to begin replacing the ceiling plates to those that would support fans, only to realize that they had never fully inspected what was already there. The existing plates specifically stated on the side that they were for ceiling fans. In addition, they were properly installed. So four hours later, wasting much of an afternoon, my fans are up, no thanks to the handymen services. Very disappointing that they were not skilled enough to understand the job/tools required to complete our simple requests.
Description of Work: We asked to have two ceiling fans installed and a curved shower curtain rod hung

I was called shortly after I purchased the deal and had sent an email asking if the company could come out last week before my family arrived. I described the items that needed repair, and asked if they could call me with a list of items to purchase to perform the repair. They said sure, that the handyman assigned to the job would call the day before. So far, so good. I did not get a call, and went to Home Depot the night before to buy what I thought they would need. At the scheduled time for the appointment., a truck drove up, then turned around in front of my house and left. It re-appeared 30-60 minutes later and asked if this was the address that I had given them. The bushes were trimmed too high by the previous owner and it is a bit difficult to see the address, but I didn't really understand the leaving the first time. Before showing the 2 handymen who came what needed to be done, they explained that they would walk through the job, then leave to purchase the items they needed for the repair. I explained about the phone call request, and they said that they had not been given the message to call me. That suggests to me that they generally spend part of their 2 hour deal running to the store for items, with no work done in the meantime. One of the 2 handymen explained that I probably didn't need weather-stripping on my door, but just to raise the copper stripping to fill the air spaces I was seeing. Then, one handyman left to go to Home Depot and the other stayed to start on the repairs with the items I had purchased. For the ceiling drywall repair that had already been started (taped and drywall compound applied), he sanded the spot and applied orange peel finish, checking with me to ensure that I liked how it looked. I was pretty happy with both the repair and checking to make sure I liked it, as well as the explanation about the weather-stripping. The job went downhill from there. The handyman who went to Home Depot returned with plastic sheeting to protect the areas he was working on, a 2X4 to fill in the gap in the wall to apply drywall to, and a big box of wood screws to mount the 2X4 to the studs, of which he only needed a few. What really bothered me about the purchases is that I have hundreds of wood screws in all sizes in my garage, as well as 2 expensive dropcloths I had purchased for painting. i didn't like having to pay for these extra materials, and that they didn't even ask me whether I had them. The handyman working on the hole in the wall asked if I had a hairdryer to speed up the drywall compound drying, so I went into the bathroom to get it. When I looked at the job he had done, I was upset, as he had filled in the hole in the wall with 1/2" drywall when the rest of the wall was 5/8". That meant that he put a lot of compound on top to even it out, and all at the same time. In my experience, you get a lot of cracks in the finished wall when you stick all that compound in one place at the same time, without layering it and letting it dry between layers. I asked him why he did that, and he said that the drywall I gave him was 1/2". True, but I had a sheet of 5/8" in the garage, which was used for the ceiling repair. Again, he didn't ask. I asked him to remove it and put the right drywall on, he called his boss, who then called me and told me I would have to pay for the extra time. When I protested that what they had done was not a quality job, he disagreed, so I told him to just take out the bad patch and leave. I will do my own repairs in the future, even if it means they have to wait until I have the time.

The job was delayed one day at the start but that was due to Home Depot not committing to a home delivery for the morning the materials were needed. The materials were delivered the next morning to the site. There was a small mix-up as the 2 workers who were supposed to work at my house were assigned to another project by mistake. But they did arrive after a phone call about an hour later. The workers labored non-stop until 6:30 that night to complete the job. They did an excellent job and I will use them again if needed in the future.
Description of Work: Installed decking in the attic for storage space. They placed the materials order for me through Home Depot and had the supplies delivered to the house. They installed 2x4 joists for spacing over wires and water supply lines. Then they cut plywood to fit on the joists including notching where needed.
Very well . Dan made an extra effort to schedule someone on a Saturday. John Taylor showed up on time and with a great attitude. He worked all day, one project after the other. He was polite and courteous.
Description of Work: Several diverse small repairs Changing door insulation Reattaching stairs handles Fixing windows Fixing leaking faucets Sheet rock work
They called to schedule service within 24 hours of my leaving a message. Service was scheduled for 2 days later. The crew supervisor arrived early, but waited until my exact appointment time to ring my doorbell. He walked through my "to do" list with me. The crew then arrived & the supervisor took them through the list, they compiled a list of supplies needed and went to the store to purchase. Upon arrival back at my home, the crew worked diligently the rest of the day to complete my list! They were courteous, professional and I am very satisfied with their work! I bought the "big deal" for $75 for 2 hours, but used them for the entire day! They were great to work with and I will most definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Installed baseboard trim in a bathroom, repaired cracking mortar under front door threshold, replaced light fixture above shower and replaced some weatherstripping around front door.
Three men showed up for the job. One was the crew chief who was not supposed to stay, but did - which I think added to the professionalism of the job. We did a walk through, agreed on what tasks were to be done. I added a few jobs to the original list. Shawn asked me to prioritize the jobs, which I did. he broke them down, and assigned his crew to assorted jobs, and decided what to do himself. The day entailed two trips to Home Depot - Shawn went and the other two men continued working. On a couple of occasions I was consulted, offered options and told the impact on the overall price. Shawn made suggestions of things I hadn't even thought about, but which made the outcome better.
Description of Work: * fixed a broken stair bannister * uninstalled an old ceiling fan and installed a new one * fixed a front door that was not catching the latch when being closed * installed a new kitchen faucet * repaired a hole in the outside wood of the house * changed bulbs in 20 ft high track lighting

I am a senior and try to do my own repairs, but these were things that i could not do, or not do well. I provided the baseboard, the smoke alarm and two boards used in the repairs. Unfortunately, I did not have the right screws and nails and an extra latch, so some of the time was spent obtaining materials. The amount of nails and screws purchased was a large quantity not needed so I kept them. (I was advised by a Home Depot customer service advisor, that Handymen usually bring their own screws and nails, so I would not need to buy some - it was unfortunate). Also, beyond the one hour for two workmen at $99.00, I had to pay more than I thought I would have to pay. The workers were polite, and did quality work. and were very upfront about cost. I was just surprised by how much time these seemingly small (to me) repairs would take. Next time, I would get estimates from several people and get a fixed price for accomplishing the work since I don't know about costs of such repairs.
Description of Work: Repair of missing and improperly installed loose baseboard - , installation of one smoke alarm too high for me to reach, and repair of warped fence door.
Very polite phone calls. Prompt service. Two men worked. Went to Home Depot to get supplies. Used their time well. Fine job. Courteous, professional. No job too small. Did a great job, and I was so relieved to have some of those honey-dos taken care of!
Description of Work: Took care of sticking front door and squeak. Replaced light in garage. The whole light had to be replaced. (I forgot to check off electrical work!). Repaired a hole in a bedroom wall from start to finish (paint and everything). Hung pictures.

Most of the trouble was with contacting the company and getting things scheduled. I suspect they were really busy, but I don't know for sure what caused the trouble. Once that was done, the guys who actually did the work did quite well. They hooked up my ice maker and dryer, put a sliding closet door back on track, put in a new mailbox post, cleaned the gutters, and put up hose hangers on the house. All these were done well. I probably would use them again, but I would approach with my teeth set, ready for phone tag.

It was okay. The person doing the work was very nice---seems the manager and project managers were the ones lacking in service.
Description of Work: We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal to have some handyman services done. Specifically, fix some rotted wood outside by a window, replace a ceiling fan and install base boards in our master bedroom. We also asked for a bid to do some work in our kitchen and bathroom. We were called the day of the services to tell the Handyman what type of base boards we wanted. The appointment was scheduled way in advance and they could have asked us to pick out the items prior to the day of the service. We let the handyman choose the base boards after sending photos via phone to us and they were fine. The weather was rainy so the Handyman could not fix the outside rotted wood. The handyman never called to reschedule or arrange an alternate date. Also, we asked for a bid to redo our kitchen and master bedroom bath---a potentially very large job. During the same visit, one of the handymen took all the information and the updates we wanted to make and said they would prepare a bid. We never heard from them again. The work they did was okay. But it is the work they didn't do or even try to do that formed my opinion. I could have been a customer, and a well paying customer, but the handyman never followed up about any of the work---even the work they were supposed to do during their visit.
