Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling

It went well. Shaun was very good - made sure I knew what he was working on at all times, went to Home Depot to get some supplies and purchased economically. He got along great with my animals, so I didn't have to lock them up, which was important to me.

The handyman was punctual & efficient. Would use again.

I got the handyman for the day (7 hours) Angie's List special for $269. There were 2 handymen (one was here for about 7 hours, the other for 6.25 hours). They were friendly and worked hard. As you can see from the list above, they did a lot of work for me - and for as much as they did the price was right. I had all the tools and supplies needed before they got here, so that helped move things along. These were all projects I had been wanting to do for a long time, but I don't have the skills and Best Austin Handyman really did a great job! I have been too busy to write a review, but found some time today and wanted to be sure to recognize them since I am happy with the work they performed and am enjoying all the things that have been fixed. I would definitely use them again.

The work done by the handyman was done efficiently and done well. I had a solar shade mounted on my back patio. He did a great job of putting that up, and it looks nice. He then repaired some loose boards on my deck, and even took the initiative to try and fix a couple of boards near the house that were without support. Great job on my aging deck! My bathroom door had loosened at the hinge. Though I had repaired it before, it has loosened again. He glued the screw in; so far -- so good. He told me that if it loosened again, I might consider re-installing the hinge with some longer screws. His work was excellent. My only problem with this vendor is that, based on conversation with the scheduler, the do not seem interested in smaller jobs (which is what I normally need). I had some cracks in a couple of walls that I need repaired, as well as some nails that have come through the upper wall in one of the bedrooms. The scheduler said they do not do estimates on such job -- they would just send someone over to drywall. I have two problems with that: (1) I want a professional to look at the problem and KNOW what needs to be done for repair (for example, maybe the crack on one wall is caused by the door jamb and the job may be larger than drywall --- or maybe it is much more minor than I think). (2) That leads to the second issue -- What is it going to cost me??? I'm retired and must budget my spending. Maybe everyone does not need to do that -- but I need an estimate. Therefore, I am still in search for a handyman that can do small odd jobs for me and tell me, up front, what it will entail and what it will cost.

He was ok when I was talking with him. He was telling me different things during the estimate about having two men to do the work. He knew what needed done and how long it would take. He said it would be between 500.00-600.00 dollars. I need chairs painted, deck washed, and the gutters cleaned. He wrote up an estimate that ended up being 970.00 dollars. I asked him why it ended up being so much more. I told him I would let Angies List know how high the quote ended up being. He wrote back and changed the price to 770.00 because he made a mistake on the price.

.We are very happy with Mike's work. He is a hard worker and a master craftsman. Every door and handle works perfectly. The 8 ft high fence is sturdy and looks great. The gate works perfectly. Mike is real easy to work with; advising us about the proper materials to get for the projects. He even saved us $250 dollars by rebuilding the exterior door instead of replacing it. Luis did a great job installing the tile and it looks great

Jay was professional and on time the first meeting, but missed the second meeting which we had to reschedule. Then the first design I received back was not what I had in mind. I later met Barrett and a construction manager, (sorry, forgot his name), and they were very helpful with filling in the details for a type of deck I was looking for. They did have several ideas that I ended up using so the next design I received was closer, but some details were still wrong. Barrett did provide an estimate, and at a very reasonable price. However, I have decided to go with another company that specializes in building decks and arbors.

I am kind of undecided; I am kind of fixed on them. I do not have any one better or people who are better experienced for handyman work.

The experience was very good. Kyle came to give an estimate. His recommendation was to tear out and rebuild the whole deck instead of spending money on spot repairing. The company provided the estimate, which was very competitive. However, we decided to go for spot repairing only at the moment as the damage did not appear that bad. The company did not push it and Kyle set up an appointment for the repairing work. Kyle and another assistant were very professional. Kyle kept us informed through texts about his arrival time etc. so we could plan our work schedule around. Their work was high quality, and they cleaned up after the job was done. I think the hourly rate and the overall expense for the job was fair. The only issue I had was with the "Big Deal" coupon. Two hours were advertised at $75 (valued at $150), however the company's normal hourly rate is $39.50/hr. It is not $75/hr as the Big Deal leads you to believe.

I will always call BAH when I have a job that needs to be tackled.

Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling did a really, really good job. He was very pleasant to work with and it turned out well. I could highly recommend them. It was right away that we made contact and set-up a time for them to come out, I don't remember precisely but it seemed like reasonably soon, like within a week. There was some equipment, I ran to the store and rent at Lowe's because I didn't want to take his. I was paying him an hourly rate and I didn't want to take his time. I was going to be out anyway so he made a list for me of some items that I need to purchase and it was a fairly low cost, under $150. There's little pieces of hardwood that he needed. I did not ask him for reimbursement for that. It didn't occur to me that that was appropriate. The only thing I would discount was the initial conversation and it was with the guy who came out. I felt like his attitude was casting doubt on whether they can help me and I thought was pretty odd and that was a concern to me. It was more asking me what needed to be done and all I can do was describe the problem, I didn't know what needed to be done that's why I was asking them to come out but that was resolved pretty quickly. I just said at the end of the conversation "why don't you just come out and take a look and see what you think." From that point on, I have absolutely no complaint and I thought he did an excellent job. I think the price was a huge discount, their pricing was very cheap. I invited him back to fix a gate in my fence and he did a good job.

The service was very good and I would definitely recommend them. They were prompt in responding to questions and comments. They were patient with my wife and I while we figured out what it was we wanted, so overall we were very pleased with the service. They actually provided a design for exactly what we asked for and when we told them that it was too costly they helped us figure out some other options that were more affordable for us, so they were very flexible. We did ask them to actually build a deck for us, but that work hasn't been done yet and so we'll see how that goes.

I got the special deal on 2 hours work, and the gentleman they sent to help me clean out my garage was wonderful. He showed up on time, and was willing to stay as long as needed to get the job done. He worked very quickly & efficiently. We finished so quickly that he had time to install a wall organizer. Great job. I will definitely call again.

Mike arrived and assessed the issue with the front door and told us he could accomplish our goal with much less work and expense. Since we had anticipated a much bigger job and he'd traveled out to Lago Vista with a minimum service fee, he agreed to instal a new faucet we were looking for a plumber to do! Both jobs finished in less than two hours and perfectly cleaned up each area before preparing the invoice! We will absolutely use this provider in the future.

He took measurements and said he would get the estimate for me, but I never heard from again. I called their office and asked about the plan. He said they were running behind. That was almost two months ago. I have never heard another word.

Very good job even with some changes made during construction

I was very happy with the office staff who responded quickly to my email and scheduled me in just a few days. A very friendly and enthusiastic young man arrived on time and discussed with me my primary concerns to remove stains and paint from my front porch and walk. He then worked very hard until he had the porch, walkway, and driveway looking great! I'm very please with the improvement. I would definitely call Best Austin Handyman back for other needed projects. It was a pleasure doing business with them!

I am not sure why there are so many good reviews for this company. I am very disappointed with the quality of work. My recessed light began sticking of the ceiling shortly after the best handyman installed them. The crew left hand prints all over our ceilings and had to come back to reinstall the lighting. Best austin handyman had to talk to my contractor to figure out to install a water system. My regular handyman is out state in California but is almost half the price and is much better. The handymen did clean most of hand prints on one ceiling but then later put more handprints on another ceiling. Also, customer service response was slow.

Taking advantage of the $84-for-two-hours offer, I contacted Best Austin Handyman on Monday and they sent someone out on Wednesday. I was disappointed Greg didn't bring a ladder, but he's tall and was able to complete the work using my stepladder. In two hours and 15 minutes, Greg replaced the garage door opener light, installed some roll-out shelves under my kitchen counters, checked my fire alarms and a/c filters, hung some items on walls in three rooms, moved a chair upstairs and a table downstairs, and hung a curtain rod & the drapes on it. The last-named item took the most time because it turned out I didn't have a complete curtain rod set after all and he had to manipulate the pieces I had to make them work. I'll need to have it replaced with a real curtain rod, but in the meantime I have privacy and the problem isn't terribly obvious. I was delighted with Greg's work and will definitely contact this company again.

Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling was very pleasant and they've followed up. It was more than just a picture but I was expecting something different.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. It went fine; they were polite and prompt. The problem was that the man came with another man who was less experienced. The more experienced man left the other guy to do the work and did not return. It was a garage wall so I was not concerned, but it was not a great job.

They did exactly what they said they would do and we on time and did a wonderful job. I will use them again!

It went perfect, and he finished up fast in the humid heat! The guys did a great job and were very eager to solve any and every problem. Hard-working, on-time, and professional. Would definitely re-hire.

The work was done to spec. The reason for the overall "C" is two-fold: 1) When we discussed the services, there was not a clear expectation set on the cost of the service. This was done with the coupon offered, and I asked several times along the way for $$ estimates. In the end, the cost ended up being much more expensive than original quote and I don't feel like there was any attempt to stop work and discuss the fact we were going over prior to the work being completed. I would recommend that you control scope VERY tightly with this company and insist on multiple/frequent checkpoints for scope and costs. 2) This may not necessarily be their fault but there was confusion in the beginning of the job as one of their team walked off the site and quit.
