The drywall patch that was previously installed, a long time ago, in the kitchen ceiling over the counter was too hard for me to reach safely to do the taping and floating. That was an area about 6 ft long and a little more than a foot wide. At first, I was just going to have the men finish that for me but I decided to have them do some more drywall repairs on some of the living room walls. Had some old metal corner bead that was coming loose and some drywall joint tapes that were pulling loose. This house was built in 1971 and with temperature changes, house settling, and old age, there are plenty of seam tapes popping loose They covered all the living room furniture and kitchen counter areas with plastic. I did give them the advantage of not having to worry about getting anything on the floors since the old flooring is getting pulled up and replaced soon. Very little ended up on the floor and was easily cleaned up. They used a fast set joint compound so while a layer of the ceiling work was drying, the guys would work on the walls. After sanding down a layer for the ceiling and applying the next layer, the walls were ready for sanding. By doing it this way, I was able to get more repairs than I expected done in one day and I didn't have to have them come back out the next day for the finishing layers and sanding. The guys were here for a total of 6 hrs. They did have to make a run to get the metal corner bead and some other supplies at one of the big box stores that's close to my house but that only took a few mins. The supply run was included in the overall time and the cost of the material was included in the price. I will be doing the ceiling texture and the texture and painting of the walls myself but I'm very happy with the drywall repair results. I got a lot more done than expected and the price was very reasonable. I will not hesitate to use Best Austin Handyman in the future for anything around the house that I can't handle myself.

Great Service . Jasper and Fabian were professional and fixed all my issues. They were very friendly and co-operative. After the drywall fix, they agreed to come back in the evening and re-paint the dry wall. I would strongly recommend to ask for Jasper and Fabian for all your handy man needs. After the work was completed, they cleaned the place and helped me move back the furniture. Great going guys and keep up the good work!!!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did some things okay and screwed out things outside that I guess they didn't want to see. I paid about $50-$75 more than the deal. There were very small chips in the paint that we wanted them to fix like the stucco and repaint and ended up spackling an area that was probably as big as your entire hand spread out. They didn't retexturize it or anything and it was good as not having it done at all. They did other things fine which were simple things like hanging pictures or hanging in the air. Relative to the quality work, the pricing wasn't good. They obviously knew that the work they did wasn't correct, and if they knew they would have right away corrected it or they should have just said we can't do anything about it and left it there. I wouldn't use them again.

Everything was great. What impressed me the most was that some items I had on my list John said were not needed. He honestly told me that I would not get any better seal on the garage door by replacing it. He showed me that it was in good condition. Being honest and fair goes a long way with me.

Purchased a Big Deal for Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling. I had some holes in the ceiling that needed repaired. They patched the holes, textured and painted. They did a fine job. They did the job in a timely manner.

Disappointed in communications, follow through and follow up. Techinician that came out was nice. Weather stripping puilled off the next day in several areas. Told they would call day before arriving to discuss scope of work, etc. Didn't happen. Gave them my home address on several communications. They arrived at my office address. I'm sure they are a good company. However, my experience was average at best.

I first talked to Marisa to set up a time for my handyman appointment. She was very pleasant and helpful. I appreciated her willingness to work with me when I ran into a snag in purchasing paint that I needed for one of the handy man projects. Ed, the handyman, was on time and got right to work. I reviewed a list of items and the priority of what I wanted to accomplish with Ed when he arrived. He efficiently worked the list without needing any prodding or hovering from me and seemed like he could fix anything. I was amazed at all that he accomplished. I only wish I had called sooner.

Technician cancelled morning of original date and rescheduled for one week later. I never got A call from the company to reschedule or apologize for cancellation. Technician was very meticulous and slow in hanging and mounting the pulls and the spice rack, therefore, the price per hour became very expensive.

Austin Handyman sent someone out timely and he took measurements and listened to us what we wanted. However, when we hadn't heard from him a month later. We called back and found he'd sent the drawing to some other email address. When we finally reviewed the drawing, it was so simple and obvious that he hadn't listened to what we wanted that it became a worthless throw away. Now, maybe I paid to little for what I wanted using the Big Deal. But I simply wanted a deck design and drawing so I could proceed with pricing out and building the deck .

We use handymen a lot, and the fellow these guys sent out, John Hammond, was absolutely wonderful ! His work was first-rate, he worked steadily and without incident, and communicated very well with us. He was punctual, clean, spoke perfect Texas English (as we do :-) and I never got a "weird feeling" about having him in our house. Not only that, the work extended past the "deadline" (the time we bought), but rather than try and stick us for extra hours (and extra cost), he just cheerfully finished up the work without a shakedown. We REALLY appreciated someone who said they could do what was on our list, and even though it took a bit longer, he completed it. On particularly thorny problems, he stuck to it and didn't just throw up his hands - he FIXED what needed to be fixed. John helped me shop for the right materials and also advised us on what to avoid. His repairs were really great. If you go with "Best Austin Handyman" (and I would use them again for sure), ask for John Hammond if you can get him.

The visit was fine. Everything was done on the list perfectly.

The company will pair you up with a pro best, if you describe your job clearly. They have quality handymen. I have used them several times during the last year. This last time I worked with John H and he is a very good carpenter and handyman. John called me ahead of time to review the work and to make sure I bought all materials needed if I wanted to do it myself. He explained what and how he was going to do so I'd know what to expect. John did the job WELL and he did not compromise on quality for speed. I would hire this company again without a doubt. Now, do explain your job and please request to speak with your assigned handy person before the job is done. It will go a lot more smoothly and you will save time and money. Daniel in the front office is very responsive and professional as well. He wants you to be satisfied with their work and he will respond to you if you have any concerns about billing or scheduling. Last spring I disputed a charge and provided them with evidence and Dan was quick to correct the situation. You know that sometimes there will be problems and it is good to know this company will do good by you.

I ended up fixing it and didn't need the service.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. We were really pleased. I knew there was a lot more work than 2 hours. It was $39.50 an hour and we knew that in advance. Something also came up while he was here so we had an electrician from Angie's List put in a light fixture. He told us the only way to get in there accurately would be an opening and while the guy named John was here, I asked if he could come by and fix that and he said sure so that worked out really well and he did a great job on the ceiling. It was coincidence that they were both here and John fixed that because he won't be able to do that because he's an electrician. I purchased additional 6 more hours so it was a total of 8 hours because I had him come back the next day because things had to dry for the tiling outside and the grout took a long time. We're really very pleased with their rate. We sure will use him again in the future. He'll be our new handyman because this guy John can do anything.

Mike arrived 15 minutes to go over job with me and to get his tools set for the job. was very professional attire he was very pleasant and I am very pleased with the service provided and would definitely recommend this company to my friends and would use the again for another job

mike called the day before the appoint to ask about the materials needed and if i had the materials or if he needed to go get them for me witch i thought was a very complete service loved his personality and really appreciated his hard work in getting the job done fast and it looked great i love my new closet and would recommend them to all my friends and family. thx best austin handyman awesome job!

The worker[who was not the owner] made one mistake resulting in him having to fill holes and repaint my wall.He was not too bad but not great-seemed to be very concerned about how long he was there and definitely was on the clock.

The repairman looked at the work and estimated 5 hours to complete. It took 9.5 hrs. At 5:00PM he said that he wasn't quite finished but would only charge me until 5:30 even if it took longer. At 6:30PM when he was actually finished he billed me for the extra hour. I reminded him what he had said and he replied that he said that because he thought he would be finished by at least 6:00PM, and since he wasn't, he had to bill me the extra or he wouldn't get paid. The majority of the extra time was spent blocking one of the ceiling fans, going up and down in the attic getting things he needed. When he couldn't get to the second one in the attic he had me go and buy a part at Lowes that is used so you don't have to go in the attic at all. This part only cost $20.00 and was much cheaper in the long run given how much time was saved not going up and down in the attic. I told him he should recommend that approach to all his customers. I was satisfied with the work when completed, but won't use him again because his estimate was off so drastically.

The work completed was done neatly and cleanly. The handyman was courteous and professional and didn't complain about having the wrong materials upon arriving on the job. He went to the hardware store, purchased the needed materials, and ensured the job was done properly. Good customer service with quality work.

Slowest worker I can imagine. I think my 83 year old granny would have been as efficient. Extremely disappointing.

I was pleased with the first job. The people who showed up for the first one were completely different from the second group, which wasted their time.

Well, the architect was very nice- though he was just doing a favor for the company- as they are so busy and needed the extra help. While he was friendly and jovial, he did not show up for one of our appts, & when I called to see if he was still coming he had forgotten because his car broke down that morning ( really not my problem). The builder/owner of the company that I had an appt with, after the architect plans were given to me, did not show up for scheduled time either. He was supposed to show up with his builder between 5-7 pm, I changed my schedule & waited around for 2 hrs. I called at 7, left a message. When he called me the next day, well, he just didn't have it on his schedule, though he did remember our conversation. Another rescheduled appt. When he did show for appt., the builder did not come with him, so he said they would have to stop by together the next day. We went over the plans and I had to call the company about a week & half later to find out about my estimate, which they had to re-email to me. The estimate was a huge amount of money, so I will be getting bids elsewhere. The drawn up plans are great though. I realize that since they joined Angie's List they have become very busy- but they shouldn't loose sight of customer service. Without your customers, you don't have a business.

The project was unusual for them I think, not many people request a screen door inside the house. Kyle & Charles arrived on time, they measured & then went to Home Depot for the necessary items, they got the extra strong screen so the cats claws would not rip it. It took longer than anticipated as they had to drill out the walls in order to fit the door & therefore it cost more than I had expected, which was not really their fault, it was just the nature of the project. Both Kyle & Charles are very nice guys, very polite & helpful & they cleaned up afterwards.
