When Derek showed up he could not do the job because he did not have a ladder that would reach so they had to reschedule. John came on a Sunday to finish the job. I bought the mesh to cover the vents as they instructed. Should keep out all animals.

I've used this company before with the handyman for a day coupon and had a positive experience the first time. The second time, I scheduled them last-minute and I think I got their last-place handyman. It would have been better to have told me they couldn't schedule for that day and made me wait for a better handyman. The person they sent was not professional. I asked him to assemble a corner table. That went well. I needed a weight rack assembled in the garage. He asked if he could smoke cigarettes, which I found unprofessional to begin with and against my better judgement said, um, ok but please do not get smoke in my garage. He smoked a few cigarettes at the front of my garage, filling the garage with smoke and it reeked all day. Without prompting, my husband and brother both made comments when they came through the garage later that day wondering how/why the garage smelled like cigarettes. I had to leave for an errand, and when I came back, the curtains were hung too high. I was frustrated, but at least this could be a matter of opinion where to hang them. The drain -- he had trouble fixing so my husband ended up getting involved. We were getting ready for a huge Memorial Day party so the idea was to have someone else helping us get the house ready. The shelf in the garage - he hung the rail to slide the shelf on but then said the shelf couldn't be hung. He said it was a flaw in the shelf and I should take it back to the store. I'm sure the shelf was not well designed, but I had my usual handyman team out here this week to get my guest room ready to be a nursery and they got the shelf on there! Prior to the shelf incident, the handyman asked if I had more on my list because if not, he'd skip lunch and knock out the last items so he could go home early. I'm normally pretty flexible, but this request came right before he gave up on the shelf so the combination irks me. I contacted the business owner who was very polite and said they'd have someone go by my house to at least get the shelf up. But I never received a follow up or anyone at my house to hang the shelf. I think this is a good company; I've recommended them to a friend who had a positive experience like my first one with this company. But I'd recommend this company not use that handyman they sent the second time. Overall, I as frustrated with the lack of professionalism.
Description of Work: Handyman was asked to assemble weight rack and corner table, hang curtain rods/curtains, hang shelf in garage, fix drain in bathroom. I can't remember what else.

Thank you for your honest review. We appreciate your feedback, and will work on our professional appearance. It was our pleasure working for you and we hope to hear from you again.
I had purchased an Angie's List Deal for Best Austin Handyman. The deal was for 7 man hours. Zach was actually a little earlier than our appointment time, which I actually appreciated. He first replaced the fan on our covered porch. Excellent job. He even offered to haul away the old one. My hope also was to have the outdoor stairs not only power washed but also stained with new paint. Unfortunately the wood was wet not only from power washing (completed by Charlie who joined Zach later in the morning) but there had been some rain the night before. It was too wet to paint. However, I had concerns about the stability of the landing at the top of the stairs. Zach examined the structure and assured me it was safe but did replace one plank because a knot had rotted out and evidently a patch job would not have looked good. Charlie did a fine job of power washing the floor and walls, cleaning off quite an accumulation of dust as well as smoke marks from the BBQ. Everything looked so fresh. Zach asked if there were other projects to be done since painting wasn't an option that day. I did have a list of small needs and questions about various issues around the house. He patiently assessed each situation and told me why some things did not need work right now but those that did need addressing were taken care of one by one. The guys were polite, hard working, diligent. I was very happy with the attention to needs big and small and the results were great!
Description of Work: Power washed covered porch floor and walls as well as wood stairs and a landing off the porch; replaced outdoor fan by assembling and installing the new one we bought; repaired a growing hole in bedroom ceiling caused by a loose sheetrock nail; examined and advised about a number of concerns I had around the property.

You did not allow me enough space to type in all that was done by Mike T. that worked for the company. He installed a peephole to the front door. Installed a soap which had been pulled out of the guest bathroom wall, Scraped soffit from screened in porch to remove dangly things. I had paid $79.00 for the Big Deal advertised Two man-hours of handyman service. One man for 2 hrs or 2 men for 1 hr..After the first 2 hours you will be billed $39.50 per man hr. Project manager came out and gave me an estimate to do the windoe and stated to remove the sofits would be free. He gave me an estimate of $316.00 for 8 hrs and 75..oo for the materials, which totaled to .$391.00. One man came out on the 9th of August at )8:30 A.M.. Since it did not take him 8 hours to do the window which including him going to collect the materials needed. I asked him to install a peephle I had bought from Home Depot and to put the soap dish back ino the wall which I had bought glue from Home Depot to glue it back. They instructed me to remove the old cement before glueing which I informed Mike T .I asked him if he couuld use the glue and he stated yes. My daughter was here and witnessed our conversation..He put too much glue to seal it and did not caulk around the soap dish to seal it. After he left I discoved glue running down into the bath tub. I also noticed that when he put the peephole in the front door, it splintered but he did not bother to tell me about that either. I called him to tell him of the defects and he stated he would come back to check it out but he never called back and he did not tell the manager abot these 2 added things he had done.. It took me weeks and several phone calls to try to get a correct invoice. After complaining to the main office which Mrs. Page had called me from 210 8547668 to rate my satisfaction with the company and my experience.. I finally received a corrected invoice on September 3, 2013. Then Mike T lied and stated he had told me not to use the glue.. Every one makes mistakes but please don't lie on me. Mike T finished at 3:30 . He worked 7 hrs. I had already paid for 2 hrs and they tried not to deduct the 2 paid hrs of $79.00 from the 7hours which meant I only owed him for 5hrs.. Then they tried to charge me$316.00 for Labor and $27.00 for the materials Which I still have not received an invoice showing the amount spent on the materials. My problems is he stated he had sent a specialist to do the job and his price was $55.00 hr. When I told him that was not our agreement then he wanted to change the amount to$343.55 which continued to include 8 hours of labor and $27.55 for materials. I told them that I would only pay 5 hours of labor and which was$197.50 because I had already paid the $79.00 for the deal which included 2hrs work for one man and then the $27.55 for materials added up to a total of $225.05. They finally agreed to this amount. During this period of time I talked with Jordan Cisco, Derek Cisco. This company cannot be trusted. They will lie and try to swindle oy. You had be aware and keep records of conversations and all changes from the original estimate. Add up all totals your self because the will lowere the price over the phone to make you think you are getting a deal but you are not. I was pleased withe the job of the window. I did take pictures of all the results.

We feel that we explained everything as best we could to this customer and did the best work we could to satisfy her requests. At the end of the day her bill was less than we had originally estimated and we accomplished more work in that amount of time than originally agreed. She spoke with 4 of our office staff and 2 of our technicians who all listened patiently to her experience and offered their assistance in resolving her issues to no avail. Unfortunately in this case there was no pleasing this customer.

They were very polite and on time. They removed the gutter then rotted wood. Then they cut and painted a new piece of wood and replaced it then hung the gutter. They did a great job but it took all day and the main handyman had to wait for someone to show up and help him hold the wood and gutter up. The waiting time was charged to me which i did not appreciate. The front gutter replacement was okay but it now leaks at the corner.

The appointment time was confirmed and the handyman showed up as expected. He surveyed the area before heading out for supplies. Very friendly and he even offered suggestions on what we could do to minimize expensive areas to get home ready for sale. He did an excellent job of taping the areas he would paint. The only issue was, and this isn't a major problem, is that he purchased a water based paint for the trim instead of matching the original oil based paint. I'm not a professional by any means so when I decided to paint over the cabinet doors after the handyman visit, I told the paint guy at Home Depot why I needed it and he provided an oil based paint that was an exact match and made the cabinet doors look like new. The paint job the handyman did was noticeably different from the surrounding area. Again, the effort was there but he used the wrong product. In the future I would make sure to have all the supplies in advance and that would ensure the outcome is how I expect.

When I called to schedule the service, I told them I had 5 drywall patches and some caulking and they said no problem. I was told they were sending their best drywall guy. Then I started thinking about it and called back to ask what supplies I should get. I was told the guy would have everything he needs. I should have listened to my intuition at this point. The person who came was nice, polite and professional. The problem was that he couldn't do the work. He said that sure, he could patch the drywall (door handle it the wall) but that he couldn't finish it out with texture or paint. I was fine painting it, but I couldn't do the texture work. Silly me, I figured a repair would include the whole repair! I have hired people to do drywall repairs before, and it included re-texturing. I ran to the store to get supplies, and he took a stab at it for me. He did a better job than I would have, but only fixed two places. The repairs that I really wanted done were left undone because I didn't want to risk it looking even worse. So he did some light caulking and left. I'm sure they're fine at doing other things, but I was disappointed in the lack of communication and clarity about what they would and wouldn't do - before they got to my house.
Description of Work: He did basic drywall repairs and some caulking.
From the beginning to the end, the employees were all very professional and very prompt. I purchased the coupon on Angie's list for $79/2 hours of handyman services Wednesday morning (08/28). Since I was pressed for time, I called and left a message that morning and within a few hours I received a call back. The young lady was very pleasant while gathering the details of my job. She informed me ahead of time, that should the job require additional hours, I will be charged at the rate of $39/hr. When I agreed, we scheduled the appointment for Friday morning at 9 am and I was told to expect a call from the handyman to again go over the details of the job. Mr. Texeira (handyman) was very professional at every level of communication, whether on the phone or in person. He called me on Thursday to discuss what exactly was needed so he could be prepared for the job and told me he would call me when he was about 30 - 45 minutes away. Friday morning at 8:25 am, he contacted me that he was on his way and arrived and began work promptly at 9 am. The job was a bit more difficult than I had originally explained so it went over the original 2 hours. He explained to me every step of the way as to why it was a bigger job and I was very grateful for that. Also, because I wasn't aware of all that the rail installation entailed, I did not have the correct amount of material. Mr. Texeira worked very hard to complete the job to code with what I had given him and the rails look absolutely wonderful. He also did a great job with the transition piece. He explained the 2 hours overage, and that I would be receiving an invoice via e-mail regarding the new charges, which I did promptly. He left my home very clean and in the same condition as when he began his work. I also talked to him about the little jobs I was doing which included caulking my bathtub and he even went the extra mile to demonstrate how to properly do it. That's service! I will definitely use them again and refer them to all my friends!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It worked out well. I had to basically reduce the amount of time that I bought. They bill their plumbing work differently. I have worked with one of their employees before and I requested that he come back out to my house and he is paid more than the other guys. There were no additional charges. I think that their guy Derek is rock solid in what he does so if there's a chance to call a specific trades person, I would say Derek has it going on.

Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling came out and provided us a design for a kitchen remodel. It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. The installer that they sent out really didn’t seem to have many ideas. We were looking for ideas from them and he has been, “Whatever you want.” For the drawing that he did for us, he incorporated things that we specifically told him we didn’t want. I e-mailed them twice to see what was going on and I haven’t heard from them. When he left, he said that if I didn’t like it, he could redo it. There were no materials listed and estimated costs. I need to look at the deal but I thought there was gonna be at least some estimated cost and materials. I got this one drawing and it’s really useless to me so I don’t feel good at all. I really don’t feel that I got anything that I was looking for.I would at least like to talk to the owner and aks him why he hasn't returned my calls and see if that's truly all I'm gonna get. I respoonded to the e-mail that they sent to me that has an attachment of the drawing but I didn't recognize the e-mail address as the man's name who came to our house. Maybe they have never gotten my e-mail but I sent it to that e-mail address and I didn't get any failure notices.

All in all everything went well. They were an hour later than scheduled, but that was due to the original handyman car issues. He did call before he was scheduled to arrive and informed me that another guy would be coming instead - not a big deal for me. It did take A LOT longer than originally estimated, but I know that every project in my older house usually takes longer than expected. The guy who did all the work, (Mike Terry), was great. He was very meticulous on doing the job right, and was very careful not to damage anything else when doing the work. The company kept their word on the original price per hour they quoted me, so I was very happy about that. They are a very good company, and I will use them again.

Thank you for your honest review, we are always looking at how we can improve. We certainly appreciate your business, it was our pleasure working with you, and we hope to hear from you again soon.
I had purchased a special deal for 4 hours of work for the price of 2 hours ($75). I was excited in finding this company as I wanted to have a reliable handyman and the Angie's list reviews were good. Unfortunately, my experiences were much different. the first time I called to schedule we set a dat and time and I was informed that a handyman would call me the night before to discuss the projects. I received no call and no one showed at the designated time. I contacted them and they had no record of my call, so I rescheduled, informing them of what I needed worked on and inquiring of the timeframe to complete the work. I was informed at that time that all the work could be completed in a day. Again, I received no phone call the night before even though that was restated in my second call for that to happen. The workers showed up about 20 minutes after the designated time yet I figured traffic could have interfered with their timely arrival (a courtesy phone call would have been nice). There were three workers, all of them very young. I spoke to the one who introduced himself as the crew leader and proceeded to show him all the work. Again, I was informed that the work could be accomplished in one day. After 30 minutes of looking at the work all three went to Home Depot to get supplies for the job...I could understand the need to get supplies after you "put eyes on the job" yet all three? And, they were gone for 2 hours. I thought they took a break while gone yet after they returned the crew leader mentioned they would start and break for lunch in one hour (hmmm?). At that time I left for work and I returned around 5:00pm and they were not even half completed in their work; the ruined drywall and insulation from my bathroom ceiling was still being ripped out and discarded, my front door was off and still being sanded (prepped) and I should add with no heavy plastic in the door opening to block my a/c from just going out the door, and no crew leader. When I inquired about the crew leader I was informed that he was sent to another job. The next day the two workers arrived yet no crew leader, and continued their work. I came back from work and they still were not finished with their work. I then asked for the name and number of the crew chief and him and I discussed the work. He came out the next day, we agreed on a negotiated price and continued the work. Unfortunately the workers put the wrong stain on the front door which required an added day of work to stain it correctly. They did subtract my original payment of $75 from the final bill yet I had already paid that amount a few months ago when purchasing the special deal. The final work was OK yet very good as I can see paint streaks in my bathroom. I have decided not to ask them back and will call someone else to rework some of the job as I do not want them back in my house. I do appreciate the crew chief's willingness to negotiate a final price yet believe they need to improve their operational systems and make certain there is a crew leader with the others at all times. I rated them a "C" yet that was an average of C- to D+. I will never use them again and need to find another handyman. How unfortunate as I have, for the most part, always have had good experiences with highly rated companies/providers from Angie's List.
