The repairman who was dispatched to my home was Mike Terry. He displayed professionalism, top notch customer service, and knowledgeable in the field of roofing. Unfortunately, I had previously had an insurance adjuster with Farmer's come out on a claim for roof damage to my home. The adjuster assured me that my roof was good for years to come. The only repair needed consisted of a few shingles and jack covering for roof pipes. This is why we referred to Angie's List. We chose Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling for the required work. Mike and his assistant Greg were quick to point out the additional damage to the roof that my insurance adjuster failed to mention. Mike Terry took the liberty to take pictures of the damages and forward them to me for my assistance with the insurance claim. This additional step he made to ensure I was fully aware of what I had on my hands is most appreciative. I am very fortunate to have had such an honest employee with Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling complete the service I hired.

My Handyman worked the entire 2 hrs using the materials provided and cleaned up when finished.

The job went splendidly and exceeded expectations. The company representative was professional, talented, efficient, showed up on time, phoned ahead to discuss the project and made the whole experience delightful. As a result, I will definitely be using more of Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling services in the future. It was great.

I purchased a big deal from Angie's List and their services turned out good. The guy came out and he gave me a horrible estimate. I am in the process of having my house that I own and live in repainted on the inside and I had foundation repair done a couple of years ago so it had a little bit of cracks that I wanted them injected up. He came in and gave me an estimate of like $7500 for just the repair and not even to paint the whole thing. I gave him a list of things to choose from that they can do within an hour for two guys to come out. So I had a water heater up that I had replaced and was upstairs in the attic and I could not get that thing down by myself so I had these guys do that for me. They just brought it down and then I was going to have them in the process of doing that, my attic stairs I made a little adjustment to them to get the new one up and it was not closing right, look at it. I had bought a new kit and they were going to install it for me as part of that deal and I was going to pay him extra to stay longer to do it. He said that the only problem you have with this is that the springs are sprung, so if you replace the springs you seem okay. So, I was able to take that kit back to Home Depot and just bought a spring, so they did real good. I would give them an "A" across the board, as everything was perfect.

I was searching for a general handyman for projects in my home. I bought the two hour special to test the responsiveness of the company. I had a series of projects to do all were discussed with the workman and two were chosen for the two hour period...installing outdoor light fixtures and replacing a door. I found the work good and the price right. I tried to schedule a larger job...a kitchen redo...along with a few more smaller jobs..and the company was completely unresponsive and did not return phone calls to discuss these other more complicated jobs. I was disappointed. I did not call them back again to try and get estimates on my other projects.

On November1, I made the appointment for two prepaid hours of service. Their office assistant, Melissa, asked me what work I needed done and I said 2 small drywall patches. I asked her if this type of work is normally done and would the handyman have the materials he needed when he came to my house. Melissa said yes, they do drywall patching all the time and the handyman would have everything he needed on his truck. My job was so small I knew that if he had even the smallest amount of supplies on hand, he could complete the job. If the handyman finished the drywall patching before 2 hours were up, I had some other small things he could help me with. The handyman showed up for the job, I showed him the 10" X 17" precut patch on the wall that needed taping and floating and he then said he needed to go to Home Depot. I asked him if I was really supposed to pay him $40 and hour to pick up a bag of drywall mud at Home Depot. He said yes. I told him his office had said he would have supplies with him for the job and asked him for his office number. He gave the number for his boss, Dan Villasana (sp?). Mr. Villasana said that the handyman was supposed to have called me the day before to discuss the job so I would have had the opportunity to buy my own supplies. But that did not happen, so Mr. Villasana said I would not be charged for the handyman's trip to Home Depot and I would get two hours of labor, as I had hoped. I thanked him and thought everything would be great. After returning from Home Depot, the handyman proceeded to use the two hours to tape and float a 10" X 17" drywall patch, which was precut for him. (He did check the other drywall repair I wanted him to do, but he told me it would take 3 hours to complete so I told him I did not want him doing it.) When he told me he was finished, I looked at his work and pointed out that a piece of drywall tape was poking out and asked him to cover it up. He told me he couldn't do it since his drywall tool was too large to work so close to the baseboard. I suggested that he use a smaller tool. He said he couldn't because it wouldn't match the work he had already done. I explained to him that it wouldn't take much mud and he could use a popsicle stick or a knife to add the small amount of mud to cover the tape up, but he told me flat out he couldn't do it. He then told me I would need to purchase a product called "Alex" to finish the job. I asked him what that was and he couldn't tell me, he just knew that's what I needed to buy to complete the job. At this point I was so frustrated I was looking forward to him leaving. As I followed him outside as he was loading up his truck I noticed that he had thrown some garbage in my flower bed, on my flowers, right next to my front door. I said "you threw your garbage here?" and he said "I had to work there because that was the closest outlet for cutting my piece of wood." He then bent down and picked up a scrap of wood from my flower bed but didn't even try to clean up the rest of his mess. When he left I found a pile of drywall mud in my driveway that he had spilled out of the bag. This whole ordeal took three hours (since he spent one hour at the store). The drywall patch still needed work to cover the exposed tape and now I need to clean my flower bed and my driveway. Since I had the phone number of the handyman's boss, I texted him photos of the drywall repair, the trash in my flower bed, and the pile of spilled drywall mud in my driveway. I waited one day for a response, but there has been none. The man identified as the boss blamed the woman in the office for telling me that the handyman would have materials for a drywall patch with him and blamed the handyman for not calling me ahead of time to discuss the materials I needed to have on hand for him. The handyman said he didn't get the call to go to my house until late the day before my appointment, so he couldn't call me. He said he couldn't cover the drywall tape because his tool was too big and he had to make a mess in my flower bed because it was close to the electrical outlet, so it was logical his mess would be there. Lots of excuses. When I texted the boss the photos of the work and the mess, I asked him if he could fix the it but he chose not to respond to me. Very disappointing and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

About 3 weeks before the appointment I contacted best handyman so someone could come out and give me a bid and measure the window so I could order the replacement. I had difficulty because the person I was talking to did not seem to understand that measuring the window, so I could order the right one was necessary. John was scheduled to come out but did not show because of a mix up on their end. He rescheduled and did make it out but would only tell me it would take approximately 10 hours. This is a bathroom window so tile work would be involved. I contacted best handyman after my window arrived and an appointment was scheduled. Because tile had to be cut it would be a messy job so he assured me everything would be covered. I realized later the bathtub was not covered but he said it was not a problem because the dust was only drywall and would not damage the tub. I was charged for 5 hours because I only wanted the window replaced. Replacing the tile would be handled later. I asked what the hourly rate was and was told he did not know because they call in the time and they are told what to charge. I find this very unprofessional. I could not get a bid and never received an invoice or my hourly rate. Shame on me for not getting additional bids. I will in the future but not from Austin bests handyman, and if he had covered everything like he said he would I would not have a chip in my bathtub that was not there before.

Barrett, the owner, worked with me on pricing to meet my budget. The got back to me with an estimate within hours of coming out to the house, and Barrett called me to make sure I didn't have any questions that next morning. The communication was excellent and extremely fast! Then his crew came out to get started a few days later, and Mike was excellent! He was extremely knowledgeable about everything, ran the crew flawlessly, and worked right along side them the entire time. Everyone on the crew did an amazing job, they were ALWAYS on time, if not early, every morning!!! They worked until dark everyday to get the job done as quickly as possible. They were all perfectionists. I do not have a single complaint about the entire job. They were awesome, and I will always use Best Austin Handymen for all future projects! Thank you Barrett, Mike, and the rest of the crew!!!

Provider provided a nice sketch. He then made some edits per my request. Since that time (a few months ago), we have exchanged emails but have never concluded on a final plan. Luckily, I am in no rush, so this isn't an issue for me. I'm generally pleased with what work was done on the plan.

John was timely and completed everything quickly and professionally. Exceeded expectations.

Barrett and the crew were very professional from start to finish. They showed up on time and even worked on Sunday when they couldn't work on the weekday due to bad weather. Mike, Charlie, John the roofer, and the whole crew were awesome and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. The results were just what we expected and then some.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out very well. They were very good about talking about the job before they got started, and they finished much faster than I thought.

They were very responsive. I called them and they called me right back. I was able to schedule the work for the day after I purchased it. There was some miss communication but they came back right away to address it. They did everything I asked them to do. They were everything you would want out of a service provider.

The tasks were small but very different. Mike was prepared for them all and moved from one to the next in an efficient manner.

I called around 9:30AM and someone was able to be at my place by 11:30. This was great because the door would not lock, and I had to go out of town the next day. The door was fixed within 30 minutes. This was a small job, but incredibly helpful and something that I was unable to do myself. I used an Angie's List coupon and the whole affair was better priced than the other offers I received from handyman companies.

Arrived late than the original scheduled time, but did call in advance. Work completed within the time frame, but not as good as I would imagine. But not terrible either.
