Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling

I did have an appointment at 9:00 a.m. , however it was canceled by the company because their severice man was not available. During the Morning hours the appointment was rearranged two more times. The companies service man, Kyle, came around 2:00 p.m. Kyle was very polite and acurate when mounting the Rubbermaid bar (for hanging storage) exact at the location where I wanted it. Also securing the curtain rod with a new screw. I was very pleased with his work.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was great. I plan on hiring them again. They were fast, efficient, and honest. I am going to use them again. I just saved up everything I needed done and then I hire that group every 4 months and they do all my little things that I cannot do.

I purchased a coupon on Angie's List for 4 hours labor for Wood Rot restoration. The areas in need of repair were the wood threshold under an exterior door, the lower siding frame around 2 exterior windows, and the siding underneath one of these windows. My initial appointment was easy to schedule and the handyman showed up on time and called in advance. After assessing the situation, he determined I needed to replace the full door frame in order to address the wood rot on the threshold. When he returned to do the work a week later with the materials, he discovered one frame piece was cut incorrectly and the work needed to be rescheduled again. We then went through a series of 4 cancelled appointments over 1 month due to either weather or the handyman having a conflict. I was then contacted by Best Austin Handyman that the original handyman was no longer with them, and a nice apology. We started over with a new appointment and a new handyman for the following week. Handyman #2 showed up on time. Unfortunately he had a motorcycle and no car and Handyman #1 had not purchased the supplies Handyman #2 assessed were needed. Handyman #2 asked if I would be able to drive with him to purchase the supplies (I was not able). Handyman #2 was then able to get a third Handyman to come promptly who had a car. Handyman #2 and Handyman #3 worked together on the job. Handyman #3 appeared to be teaching Handyman #2. I was satisfied with the outcome of their work. They were neat, thorough, and polite. When the work was compete, the cost for material was reasonable, most of the cost was labor (14.5 hours) as I ended up being billed for both Handyman #2 and Handyman #3. Pros: Polite scheduling, nice apology from Best Austin Handyman for the lack of work completion for Handyman #1, good work performed by Handyman #2 and Handyman #2 Cons: A hassle spanning 1.5 from initial call for appointment before work was complete. I question whether the job required the work of 2 handymen or was a result of lack of transportation and/or experience. It appears that Best Austin Handyman has more demand than they have experienced contractors to perform.

The company responded quickly to my request and scheduled an appointment right away. The person who did the work was extremely considerate and friendly and did a wonderful job. Everything works perfectly. We will definitely contact them again if we have additional projects around the house.

Very well. The crew is excellent. Even came out to the house the day before to measure out how much baseboard to get and see the pattern. Highly recommend them.

I purchased a Big Deal for $129 for a wooden fence maintenance package. They were very nice, just very unorganized. I had to pay a lot more for the fence without them letting me know how much it was going to be. They let me know I would have to pay $180 for three posts, but then they charged me for additional things as well. They left behind some supplies and have not picked them up after numerous emails that I have sent.

I have given every other company I've reviewed an A, so I am not a complainer. They came out to install blinds and fix plumbing issues. They scared my tenant into unnecessary repairs, caused damage, and stranded me in the middle of a job with a confused 3rd-hand explanation and a promise to follow up by someone who actually knew what was happening, and no response at all after that. So - "Best" Austin Handyman finished part of the job and needed to order more materials -- i.e. custom blinds and a new door panel. They scared my tenant by telling him a back door was single-pained instead of double so then he decided he wanted that repair that I felt unnecessary and that he never would have cared about in the first place - but I just went ahead and did it rather than make a big deal out of it. They also said the plumbing issues (clogged sink and water line to refrigerator) needed a full-fledged plumber and they would get one out there. I went ahead with all repairs the recommended and scared my tenant into including the door, and so asked if they could provide the plumbers. They said yes. After weeks of asking they finally told me their plumbers were of low quality (they literally told me this - I believe "suck" was the word they used to describe their plumbers on staff) and I needed to get a plumbing company -- so I did - that worked out fine (if only this company were as professional as the plumbers were). There was some initial confusion (described below), which I will take blame for, but was never a big deal, I offered to pay for it, and eventually they told me the parts for the door and blinds to order from the home depot near to them, so I did. They were supposed to arrive late march so I scheduled the handyman for April 1 and arranged the parts for him to pick up. Everyone seemed happy and ready to go. I told the tenant Apr. 1 and he said that was fine. April 1 rolls around, nobody contacts the tenant so he asks me what happened. I send a text to the handyman asking what happened -- no response. The next day I get an email saying they they had too many scheduling issues with the tenant and refused to show up and complete the repairs (email pasted in below)!! Now I have to start back over with the parts they specifically had me order at some home depot next to them and instructions on what to do. I called and they said they cancelled on me because the tenant was rude to them when they tried to schedule. I said I was sympathetic if that happened but pointed out I had already scheduled it long ago, everything was fine and they had never even contacted either of us since then, so I was not sure how that could even have been possible! The girl was confused and promised to have the person she heard this from call me back. Of course, no call. I called back, no response. I called again the next week no response. I called again the next day, no response. I called back saying I planned on leaving a negative review of my experience but would like to hear their explanation first..... no response. This is the email they sent me: "We have experience too many communication issues with your tenant. I suspect that the source of that is your tenant is expecting us to do more work than you are willing to authorize. Under the circumstances we do not think that we can leave you as a satisfied customer and we are therefore not willing to go forward with your repairs." Considering I rubber stamped everything they suggested this was not the problem. I want to be fair so I am guessing some of this may have come from some confusion on how best to repair the door (repair v replace). They took time getting quotes for both, so I apologized for them taking their time on getting those quotes since they had to talk to both me and the tenant about it. I told the handyman I felt bad and even mentioned I would pay for that extra time from the confusion -- but this is the response I get - nothing. I have never had such a ridiculous experience and will never use them again. These are the same people that ruined my very expensive cabinets in the past, but I decided not to give them a bad rating before because they made it sound like the handymen were going to get in trouble for an honest mistake and I didn't want that because they were nice people and I didn't want them fired. I should have learned from that experience, but at least I can warn others.

I keep using Austin Handyman because they do a really good job for the money spent. They have done 2 repairs for me and both repairs I was satisfied with their making damage walls look smooth and clean for easy painting. They have there own equipment, I only had to provide some joint compound. I would use them again because they did the job right and exceeded my expectations.

The service was great. It was everything I wanted.

My call was promptly returned and the appointment was set up. The repairman arrived on time, finished the work and left the area clean. I was satisfied with the service I received.

Don was professional and knows his job. He was honest, very helpful and listened to all our requests. We will hire them again for handyman needs.

They had to come out a few times before starting the work but that was largely because they didnt have the ability to reach my roof with the ladders on their truck. The workmanship seems fine and they did show up when promised so the only real complaint I have is that before the work commenced, I asked for an estimate. The actual cost of the work was 50% more than the estimated cost and while because this was a relatively small job, the dollar amount was only $250, it still upsets me when the estimate and the actual cost are vastly different and there wasn't any change in the scope of work.

Our deck is almost 20 years old, and when they finished the job it looked almost new. They did a fabulous job. He came up with a solution to make it look even better, by painting opposed to staining it. The company is a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend them. Mike Terry is just wonderful.

This was an older residence that needed some attention. I explained what I wanted done, and the work was done timely and efficiently.

They were on time, did a good job, and finished in the allotted time.

We had a piece of siding fly off the second story of our home. The insulation was exposed and it needed to be fixed. Since it was high up with the house sitting on a slope it would have required an extra tall ladder. And even with that it was just a spot that was hard to get to. Austin Handyman came out assessed the damage and went to get the necessary material. He was even able to find a good color match to our existing paint so it looks great.

Replaced damaged cabinet. Help me find the leak so I could call a plumber. Then helped me find a new cabinet, picked up for me and installed it. He also filed other odd jobs around my home. Will definitely use them again.

They did the work in two visits. The service turned out well. They did everything I asked and I was pleased with the quality.

The man called ahead to understand what work we wanted done. I explained we wanted finishing work such as molding, texturing, and painting. However, when he arrived, he explained he was not experienced with finishing work. My husband had a list of things to do and some items he wanted completed first. The man did a little bit of everything but did not finish most jobs. He offered to say an additional hour for more money. My husband was so upset that he told the man to leave. We now have to hire someone to finish his work. The man was professional but he seemed scattered. He also used Bondo on the walls which is what they use for cars.

Removed 30 year old wallpaper from bathroom. Worked all day and did a great job!

The Job went very well. They were on time, on task and professional. The quality of workmanship also was very good. We will hire this Company again.

i called best austin handyman because i had the shower system and my contractor had backed out. barrett came out and looked over the job. gave me a bid. i accepted set up a date for install. the system had been delivered. derek arrived on time. set about inspecting the system found out 2 side panels were incorrect. so i had to go back to the distributor and tell them the problem derek also talked to the manufacturer and the distrubutor. so i went back and forth with the distrubutor. it took 22 days to get the right system.called derek he had me call best austin handyman . they scheduled derek out. derek, george and a little later luis came removed the vanity and old garden tub and surround. derek discovered there was no insulation on my outside walls. george and derek went and got the product they needed to complete the job. these three men removed, installed the new solid surface walk-in shower system. not to mention they continued to clean up after each phase so it would be tracked all over my house. they started at 9am and a little after 6pm they finished. excellent job in one day. none of the delays i experienced had anything to do with best austin handyman. i am thankful that derek had installed similar systems, knew what he was doing and wouldnt install til i got the correct panels.
