Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling

I did have a little trouble contacting the company at first; apparently several of their staff were on vacation. As compensation they gave me the special Angie's List $79 rate for one hour's services. Ed, the contractor, kept me well informed of his schedule, showed up right when I expected him, and did a thorough and conscientious job. I'm very happy with his work and will not hesitate to use Best Austin in the future.

The repairman was early which was great. He performed all tasks but he moved very quickly and I don't feel he gave his full attention to the task at hand. He replaced the water filter for my refrigerator, but didn't reset the filter button. He used the instruction manual I provided, but seemed to race through the task. His total stay was approximately 1.25 hours. I think overall the idea of a 2 hour handyman is good, but they should take their time and get acclimated to a new house with different tasks than the house they just finished or the one they are going to next. He was exhausting to watch. Good overall work results, but a different repairman next time will make the experience better.

They were okay. I will not use this service provider again.

Meagan was a great listener and was very efficient. She worked up a design and sent it to me promptly.

The design wasn’t as complete as I would have hoped. The design package did not include material selection or material selection rendering.

GREAtT. I purchased the handyman for the day. George came and did a fantastic job. He exceeded my expectations. He was efficient, personable and provided great quality.

He would have shown up ready to go to work and what he needed would not have been there, if I had not questioned him at length. His terms need to be more clear and he should more fully explain what his expectations are. I would have wasted the four hours getting materials. Okay, some guys might have known the score, but I did not and I was just lucky that I asked the right questions, before he came for his appointment.

Initially, some of the checklist items were done incorrectly and/or items installed in wrong suite. Upon review with provider, the mistakes were immediately corrected. "Handyman Johnny" was extremely professional and although I had tenants initially very upset about their missing checklist items, his attitude about making everything right was so exemplary, that he quickly diffused the situation. I will absolutely call them again.

It went very well. I would hire them again.

They are really good. I buy their big deals a lot. I always have them stay longer and do more things. They really get things done on my list. There is not much they can't do, they can do almost everything. I haven't had any issues on any work done by them.

He was unable to diagnose the problem, so we set a time for him to come out. He called me about five minutes before he was supposed to show and told me that his son was sick and we needed to reschedule. I have never heard from them again.

It went well. They called me when there was a slight delay in the arrival time. They took care - especially with a mirrored light switch cover that was glued on to a wall mirror. It would have been easy enough to pry or chip the light cover off with the mirror potentially breaking, but Mike took time and care and got it off successfully. He also found a dimmer light switch that would work with the mirrored light switch cover we had. A job well done.

The work was done well, but the service was excruciating. We had to reschedule multiple times. We would set the time and nobody would show up and no notice would be given. Our messages were not returned promptly. We dealt with different people all the time and they were not on the same page. A company worker needed to drive to another town to find matching bricks, for which they charged us 8 hrs of labor. We had to fight all the way to get a fair price. At the end, they said they had charged us a wrong rate by mistake and went down on the price and gave us a discount to finish up remaining work after our complaints about such outrages service. If you use this company, document hours and work they do and clarify all the charges up front.

Barret came out the day after I initially called to give me a quote on doing the work, and verbally told me the items that I would have to purchase myself. After receiving the bid, I called to schedule, and received a date from Dan that was earlier than Barret had guesstimated it could happen - yeah. However, I had to reschedule - which was not an issue for them, and turned out better for me in the end because of the installer that I got. Derek was the project lead and prior to the start of the job, came out to do a walk-through and review the materials that I had purchased - a little over a week later the work began. The Demo was done in half a day - and Derek ensured that everything was covered as much as possible to decrease the amount of dust that would be circulating throughout. Considering what he was doing, the individual doing the demo did a darn good job, with minimal chaos. The following day they began the installation of hardybacker, creation of the basin, beginning of waterproofing, in conjunction with replacing the sink faucets. After allowing time for the concrete to dry and application of waterproofing - the tile guy (Cuco) came on the following Monday. I had taken some photos and used a leveler to check the angles, and did have some concerns as to whether he would just be placing tiles on the walls/floor as it was; I made the decision to just observe what he did prior to me beginning to tell him how to do his job (something I personally detest). Once Cuco arrived (with several levelers of his own) he immediately got to taking photos himself, checking the angles - he then pointed out the same things I had noticed and informed me that he needed to get those fixed prior to starting the tiling - so he would not be tiling that day. All my concerns went out the window. (On a side note: Derek had intended to come by on the Sat before the tiler began, to take care of these things, however he was not able to make it - so I was not able to address it with him). Cuco walked through my design with me, made some suggestions - kept me informed on things he found that would require an adjustment due to the uneven design on the base layout of the area (this was from the builder). He was extremely meticulous and detailed, and did such an amazing job that it turned out far better than I had imagined. While Cuco was tiling, Derek was completing the sink faucets - had an issue with one of the parts that caused a delay, and installing the tub faucet. (The tub faucet was a piece of work because it had no access point except to take off the front facing. To eliminate the possibility of damage, Derek suggested that he create an access panel through the closet to install the faucet, and for ease of future access and/or repairs - I was completely on board with that idea (he created a sweet little picture frame that can be popped out and replaced as needed)). During the entirety of the project, Derek kept me in the loop on scheduling, and informed me of any issues that was found. In regards to the faucets - he gave me ample time to use/check for leaks prior to considering the task completed, or in the case of the tub; closing the access panel. He was a fountain of information on things, and continually reiterated how I was to, and what to do to, maintain the integrity of a tile shower. On his last day here - one of my outlets had gone out - Derek got out his tools and spent some time troubleshooting and fixing the issue for me. This was not a part of the project, and did not affect anything that was being done - but he did it because that's the kind of guy he is. We had some great conversations for the two weeks he was in my home - and I felt completely at ease with the three main guys who worked it. Would definitely use their service again if the need arises.

Greg was very punctual, polite and professional. He did a very nice job on my kitchen faucet. Afterwards, he tried very hard to fix a problem created when I installed the door lock myself. Even though the problem couldn't be fixed, I really appreciate his patience. He was very personable, answered many general questions about AC maintenance, weather stripping, etc. I would definitely try to get Greg again whenever I need handyman service.

It took a little while to get an appointment set up but once it was, everything went very smooth. We had 3 ceiling fans installed. Greg was prompt and efficient. We had a few other questions about future projects and he were very helpful with these additional questions and worked on getting us quotes for these projects. Greg spoke very highly of Austin Handyman & Remodeling and you can tell he really loves what he does. The fans looks great and it saved us a lot of time trying to do it ourselves.

Started out a bit bumpy when the handy man didn't show up. Upon calling the service they were extremely helpful. Turns out his son had to go to the hospital the night before. They arranged for someone else to come out that day. Super helpful and service was performed beyond expectations.

He did a terrific job. He showed up on time, tackled all the items on my list, and I have since used Best Austin Handyman again.

It went very well. Jaspel was the handyman and did a great job. He was on time and did a great job. He explained everything to me in detail. Jaspel is a nice guy as well - very friendly and keeps a clean area.

We had an over the range microwave that we paid a different contractor to vent to the outside of the house (it was just recirculating the air inside previously). The other contractor installed the venting improperly, causing the vent to essentially act like a constantly open door to the outside. You could feel the air streaming in when the microwave wasn't running. I called Austin's Best Handyman to have them come out and fix the venting properly. Charles came out and did an excellent job. He had to think on the fly and figure out a way to fix the issue. It wasn't an easy task since the previous contractor had installed it in a way that made it difficult to undo and install it correctly. Charles was extremely polite, courteous and clean. He even brought out a broom to clean up after himself when he was done. I will definitely be using them again the future and will request Charles.

It went great! Ed was here on time, worked nonstop and got all my work done. He went to Home Depot to get parts needed and did such a good job. I even called the company back and had them out for more work a week or so later. Just an outstanding experience. Ed was great both times. Highly recommend this company.

I had to reschedule a few times and they were very happy to accommodate my requests. On the day they came in they were on time, measured my bathroom, and a few weeks later I had my design. It was basically a way to visualize the finish remodel. I was very happy for $49 dollars. They did what it said they did.

Best Austin Handyman was fast and responsive, provided quality services. They have been working with me as property manager to deal with an extremely difficult tenant that 1) does not speak English 2) does not answer their phone before, during and after the service. But best Austin handyman was able to work thru all these and still provided me with excellent work and service. Thank you!

Unfortunately, this just didn't work out, and we're not sure why. We scheduled it (twice), they just didn't ever show up. We contacted them through Angie's List, and scheduled an appointment for 9 am on Friday, April 11th. They said they would call the day before to tell us how much caulk to buy. The day before, we did not get a call. We call them, no answer, and left a message. We did not receive a call back. We purchased some caulk anyway and waited for them to arrive at the scheduled time. They did not show up. We called, again no answer, and left a message. Our call was returned later that day. They apologized, and rescheduled for Thursday, April 17th at 9 am. The day before our rescheduled appointment, we called to confirm. No answer, left message, no call back (seeing a pattern here?). At the scheduled time, we waited for them to arrive. They did not show up, again. After waiting half an hour, we called a couple times - no answer. We didn't bother leaving a message this time - what's the point? So now we're back to square one, but two weeks later and having missed two mornings of work. This should have been a pretty simple, quick, and routine job.
