Best Austin Handyman & Remodeling

I liked this company a lot. They were very willing to do everything on my list. It gave me a lot of peace of mind because I was having all of these things on my list to do, and I couldn’t do them by myself. I just called Best Austin Handyman. He came and did everything for me, and it was awesome.

George was absolutely wonderful. He did a fantastic job - in fact, it looked better when he was done than it did when we had it installed a few years ago. Would definitely call him out again. GREAT JOB!!!

George was fast and accurate. He got more done in two hours than I would have believed possible. He was friendly and personable. To top it all off - the price was good too.

I did not use. I needed help in a hurry but was unable to contact the contractor so I fixed it myself.

It was a real challenging job. He did a excellent job with all the pitfalls we ran into. We had the lights but he had to hang them and wire them in. He had to run to the local supply store and buy a couple electrical items to finish the work.

The gentleman was promptly here at 9am and quickly went to work figuring out what I needed done. He was very professional and even worked around some painters I had working in one of my main rooms. He also responded very well to me adding items to his list of "To Do's". I would definitely use them again in the future.

Even the deal was for door maintenance the said it was out of their scope of work. I am requesting a refund.

The person who performed the work (Jesse), in two stages, was prompt, professional, and thorough.

It went well. The work had to be split into two days, because scaffolding was needed to get up to my window and it wasn't available. My coupon was used to replace the wood on the balcony. I had to pay for 4 additional hours on day 2 (2 men for 2 hours). The new wood around the window is a little wider than the original wood used, but I can live with it. Only downfall, the paint brush and paint i paid for were taken when they finished the second part of the job. The paint wasn't cheap and I need it to paint various places on my house. George, that did the work was great to work with. He was very quick in responding texts and phone calls.

It was good. They sent 2 people out to do the job. I had no issues with scheduling.

Mike first came out and listened to what we wanted. He measured and proposed several different options based on what we wanted. The day of installation he arrived with the necessary materials and tools. He kept the working area tidy, and when we modified the design based on questions that arose, his helper quickly went to get the necessary materials. The job did end up taking a bit longer that we had planned for, requiring Mike and helper to stay until late in the evening. But they did so cheerfully and got the work done. We will definitely be using them again. Thank you Mike!

JUNE 1 PAID FOR SERVICE $249. JUNE 9 AN ESTIMATOR VISITED THE HOUSE. DESCRIPTION OF JOB GIVEN IN WRITTEN ESTIMATE(including trim) JUNE10 MADE APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIRMAN TO DO WORK - the earliest appt. available was July 3 JULY 3 REPAIRMAN ARRIVED after rehanging closet door, repairman stated that he could not repair hole in wall (caused by pipe leak because he was unaware that the job required dry wall and custom trim. I hired a plumber to repair the pipe behind the hole. Repairman stated that he would check on getting custom trim and get back to me. JULY 7 PLUMBER REPAIRED PIPE AT FIRST AVAILABLE WORK DAY. JULY 8 I CALLED REPAIRMAN TO INQUIRE ON CUSTOM TRIM, HE SAID HE STILL NEEDED TO VISIT FABRICATOR AS HE HADN'T BEEN GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS FROM HIS COMPANY. JULY10 REPAIRMAN STATED THAT FABRICATOR WOULD CHECK INTO MAKING TRIM. JULY 11 CALLED OFFICE TO INQUIRE ON STATUS OF THE JOB. I WAS TOLD THAT THE EARLEST AVAILABLE DATES TO FINISH THE WORK WOULD BE 7/24 & 7/25 AND WOULD REQUIRE TWO SEPARATE REPAIRMEN ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS. THE FIRST DAY, THE 24TH, WOULD BE DRY WALL AND THE 25TH THE TRIM. JULY 24 DRY WALL WAS COMPLETED JULY 25 FIRST REPAIRMAN CALLED AND STATED THAT THE FABRICATOR WAS READY TO MAKE THE TRIM BUT HADN'T DONE SO BECAUSE NO ONE HAD GIVEN THE OK. FABRICATOR STATED THAT THE EARLIEST TRIM WOULD BE READY WOULD BE JUL 29. JULY 30-REPAIRS COMPLETED JULY 31- AFTER PROMPTLY CLEARING UP AN INVOICE ERROR, BAH&R CLOSED THE CONTRACT OVERALL - THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT BAH&R DOES A GOOD JOB. THE BAD NEWS IS THAT BAH&R DOES A GOOD JOB. THE RESULT IS THAT YOU GET QUALITY WORK BUT IT MAY TAKE AWHILE BECAUSE THEY ARE IN DEMAND AND SOMEWHAT OVERKBOOKED.

I would give them a B- overall. The initial work they did was good but I've been trying to get them to touch up one area. Unfortunately, they've not got back to me. I'm hoping this will get them to finish the job. Call me back!

It took several calls to finally schedule the service - left message, call returned when I was unavailable, etc. But was finally able to get it on the calendar for the week after I called. I was told that Ed would be performing the services and would be there at 9 am on the day agreed upon. The afternoon before he was scheduled to show up, Ed called to confirm the start time and the list of services to be performed. Then the next morning, he was actually a couple of minutes early. He came in, did a walk through to review all of the projects to be performed, and started working. Things went so well that I actually was able to add a couple of things to the list. Overall, a great experience.

This was my first experience using Angie's List. I purchased a 3-Hour special plus one additional hour. It was a great experience and the work was well done. I definitely plan to use them in the future. Thank you so much!!!!

Better after getting work completed. Still do not like a voicemail system with no person to speak to about issues. Called 3 times during business hours with no response so much for 48 hour response time. Spoke with Contractor on two occasions claims to have to go thru whoever is booking the handyman and he would get them to call me back with still no response for the company. Company is working on correcting responsiveness to phone calls. Contractor knew how to complete the task and was great to work with. Overall after the communication issues the Handyman was the Best.

There was an over booking problem at first but Tyler called and said he would be doing the work. On Thursday morning an office person called and also explained that Tyler would be doing the work instead. There were no problems from the time Tyler began until he stopped. I had to go and get instructions due to the fact they weren't in the box, he hung pictures while I was gone for about 20 minutes. . He was kind hard working and cared about his work. It was perfect. No complaints here I would hire him and recommend him again to anyone. He was on time Thanks Tyler .

He was very good. I didn't pay any additional above the Big Deal. He was willing to do whatever we needed.

Contacted the company to wire my house for home theatre speakers. They connected me with their A/V specialist and explained that the rate was higher than typical handyman service, but I was assured he was an expert. That didn't turn out to be the case. The specialist arrived late with no supplies. He did complete the job, which was originally estimated at 4 hours, but ended taking 8 hours. I expressed my disappointment and Best Austin Handyman reduced the rate to their normal hourly rate. I would rate their customer service A+

It turned out pretty good. They got the job done in about 90 minutes. They sent one person out to do the job.

It turned out great. I had them come back a second time. I had two projects for them and we ran into some complications on the second one. They were very responsive when they came out. They did a great job overall. There was some additional charge above the Big Deal because he had to come back for the third time. It was my first time using them. They shimmed up my front door as the latch wasn’t connecting properly. He adjusted the weather stripping. The broken window took the longest. It was not their fault at all. It was the fault of the company that cut the glass for that. That was the only reason that there was a need for a follow up. They were very punctual and professional. They were courteous and kept me in the loop information wise. They gave me a call to let me know that they were on the way. There were no issues.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and I did not end up using them as I intended. I paid for it, but in the end I had my whole house repainted and redone by a local handyperson. So I had them just try to fix the latch on a fence and I don't think the guy who came out to do that could fix it so it was not a very good job. It probably was not his fault because I think they have different people for different things. I intended for them to provide four hours work on the siding and I should not have bought it, but I did, and I ended up actually ended up getting somebody else to do the siding.

He was very good. Very nice guys. I had to call back to tweak my door and they are coming back to fix it. They also did some plumbing work and installed a security bar in my bathroom. I would recommend them to others.

5/15/14 designer Helen, came to house & only took 2 measurements for a patio. I told her that I had 2 other projects I wanted estimates on, which she completely ignored. She told me they were swamped & it would be 2 weeks until she got to me. 7 weeks go by, no design & no communication. 7/7/14 I email the company; Project Manager Dan, emails back an apology & promises someone will call me that day to reschedule another designer. Still no contact from the company. At this point based upon the lack of communication & poor customer service, I just want a refund. UPDATE: On 7/15/14, I filed a complaint with Angie's List. No communication from Best Austin Handyman until 7/23/14 - when Abby called while I was at work & left the message, "I read your review. Yes, I can refund your money, but please call me 1st to discuss someone coming out for another site visit. My number is 512-676-0121". Since then I have called that number repeatedly at different times of the day/night, but only get the message, "Hi, this is Abby. Sorry I missed your call. If you leave me a message, I'll call you back as soon as I can". Followed by, 'The Mailbox is full & cannot accept any messages at this time.' TOOK MY MONEY - DIDN"T DO THE WORK - WON"T REFUND MY MONEY! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE & WORST COMMUNICATION! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Finally, we found a place that didn't mess us around. We had excellent service from start to finish. We called late on a Friday, got a return call on the Monday and an appointment was scheduled a week later. Ed called as promised before he arrived, he was even early!! He did a fantastic job in excellent time. We were not overcharged and will certainly use the Best Austin Handyman again. Thanks for such great service - it is hard to find these days.
