My dryer was not drying in a timely manner. I called this company because I thought the dryer vent needed to be cleaned. When Justin(the service tech) told me I needed a "New" dryer vent and it would cost $300, I thought he was trying to "take advantage" and charge me a fortune for a simple repair. I had just had a new roof installed less that a month ago and the dryer vent was supposedly replaced with a "new" one at that time. Justin took photos of the vent on the roof and showed me the improper installation. The vent was not connected to the pipe in the attic . He also showed me how the vent was "crushed,' had a large amount of lint accumulated on it, and was not in "new" condition as I was told by the roofing company. Justin found that a USED dryer vent was improperly installed causing lint to accumulate in the gap of the disconnected pipe and not vent outside. There was no way my dryer could properly work with a disconnected pipe and a "crushed" dryer vent. Justin spoke to my Roofing Company while he was at my house and explained his observations. I had a new Dryer vent installed as well as the line cleaned. I am so GRATEFUL that I called this company!! Justin was honest, extremely patient and made the necessary repairs. He vacuumed the lint from the existing dryer line from both the dryer receptacle and from the attic. He even hand wiped the floor around my dryer, which I was not expecting, leaving my laundry room spotless! My roofing company agreed to pay the $300 vent charge and I paid the $154 cleaning charge. I also had the pipe in the attic and vent relocated, for a straighter vantage to my dryer, eliminating excessive twists and turns($100). I am extremely pleased with the professionalism of this company and would highly recommend them!!

This entire experience with HomeSafe was fabulous. I have a hard time being available during the week and the scheduling staff was able to re arrange their appointments to meet my need. The technician called 15 minutes prior to the appointment and arrived on time. Jarrett was professional, thorough and completely up front. He fully explained all the available options and explained how I could choose the most economical solution to my problem. He cleaned my vent, changed a transition hose and put everything back in its place. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend this vendor to others.

Went very well, my vent system was not up to code. I figured as much as my realtor had warned me. I scheduled HomeSafe to come to my home just to clean the dryer ductwork. However the technician quickly pointed out my other issues..which I knew existed. He politely explained the detriments that these issues posed to my home and my dryer system. I authorized him to complete all the needed work. Although the visit cost alot more than I had initially planned on ....it was well worth it. The technician was very very knowledgeable and although extra services were sold...they were services that were all necessary.

Thank you so much for coming out to clean our dryer vent. Justin was very professional and went over all our options. We ended up having our vent cleaned, a new vent hood installed, and purchased 6 dryer balls. Justin also mentioned they also service cook top vents so we will be calling to schedule that appointment in the future.

Justin was very helpful and he knew exactly what needed to be done. Although the price was painful, having it all done correctly gives me invaluable peace of mind in knowing my family and I, as well as our beloved home (that's a victim of a horrible builder), is safe.
Description of Work: The Technician, Justin, inspected and cleaned my dryer vent and transition hose' repaired the duct, and replaced the termination hood. He confirmed the materials used by the builder were actually intended for bathroom ventilation, not a dryer, so he had to do some work just to make it safe.

We requested HomeSafe to clean our dryer vent from the roof rather than from the laundry room. They advised us that this method is not the best way to do it; nevertheless, they agreed to do it as requested, which we appreciated. After completion of the work, the technician said that he was able to get the cleaning brush through the entire length of the vent and that the vent was now clean. The dryer is operating well, and we are very pleased. The cost was more than we had anticipated due to the very long vent (24 ft.) and a charge of $129 to remove the vent cover on the roof and then reinstall it. This company has by far the most informative website of all the dryer-vent-cleaning websites that we visited.

Very thorough and professional. The before and after photos were very helpful.
When I contacted their office to inquire about their services, I was immediately impressed after talking to Sue who answered all my questions. Sue emailed me information about this Dryer Wall Vent unit, told me its cost ($89) and explained about their cleaning services and they would determine if I needed this - I was pretty sure I did not need this but I would leave this up to the professionals. We set up an appointment and Jason, as promised called before showing up, and was on time. On inspection of my dryer vent he agreed it did not need to be cleaned. He did suggest changing out the metal hose ($29) from the dryer to the wall in the laundry room with a MUCH shorter hose, which was more efficient and rated for higher heats. He did a flow test before and after and this increased the flow by 10%. Installation of the exterior wall dryer vent was straightforward and quick and Jason made sure to test the operation several times before leaving. My suggestion to others is when they offer other services on their visit is to ask them to explain - and they will as in my case. Jason explained the reason for the replacement of the dryer hose and then demonstrated the improvement with the flow test. Jason was knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions and I appreciated that.
Description of Work: I contacted HomeSafe Dryer Vent Cleaning based on noticing my neighbor had his exterior wall dryer vent replaced recently. Our homes are 34 years old and I knew my dryer vent was nearing end of life. My neighbor was pleased with this company and gave them a good recommendation. The new unit lies flush against the house and uses a magnet to keep the flap shut.

Perils of the Vertical Roof Terminating Clothes Dryer Vent The houses I lived in prior to 2007 all had your typical clothes dryer installation of which was vented directly through an outside wall. I could periodically inspect the hose and the louvered dryer vent hood on the outside, and proceed to clean or replace as necessary. When I looked at buying a new house on 2007, I noticed the laundry room was not next to an outside wall. I asked the builder how it was vented, and he proceeded to tell me it was a vertical steel pipe that went through the roof. Instantly, all these questions popped into my mind. What a bad idea. I went up in the attic and looked this shiny 4? diameter metal tube in shock and dismay. We bought the house anyway and I recently got the vent system professionally cleaned, so I wanted to share this with everyone. I put this off for too long. If you have one of these, don?t fall victim as one of the 15,000 clothes dryer related fires in the USA each year. The lint collection it not only combustible, it ruins the efficiency of your clothes dryer, wasting a lot of electricity. Gravity It?s doesn't take a genius to comprehend how the vertical dryer vent pipe is a problem. The filter in the dryer can only catch a portion of the lint. I've been told it catches about 70% of the lint. So the rest of the lint exits the dryer. Imagine a flow of lint going up a vertical pipe (22 feet long in my case). Boom?the dryer shuts off. The lint suspended in the pipe now drops down to the bottom by gravity. The hard right angle that transitions the horizontal hose to the vertical pipe collects this lint. If you think subsequent dryer operations will blow it all back out, guess again. The lint is moist and winds up caking and building up like cement. Here?s what my 90° bend looked like. Condensation Another peril of this system is condensation. The exhaust of the clothes dryer contains partly steam. As this steam gets blown up the pipe, the part of the pipe in the attic is cold in the winter. This lowers the temperature of the steam and turns it to moisture. The moisture makes ?caking? of the lint to the pipe internal walls even worse. Notice how the inside of the vent pipe near the bottom is not coated so heavily, and how the part near the roof is more thickly coated with lint buildup. Termination Cap The lint is supposed to exit the sides of this cap, but as you can imagine, a considerable amount will get collected and stuck the top. It appears in my case, the buildup was so big, it became unseated from the top cap. Now, every time the dryer was operating, it would be tossing that big chunk of lint around. This results in a lot of back-flow pressure and long drying times. As a member of Angie?s list, I found HomeSafe Dryer Vent Cleaning as a top choice. Jacob came out and did a fantastic job. He is also very professional. You get a full set of before and after pictures. He didn't seem to mind me asking him with a lot of questions. LintAlert System Jacob from HomeSafe Vent Cleaning recommended a device called the LintAlert. It appears to be a simple pressure sensor that is connected to the dryer hose through a length of tubing. With the vent cleaned, the LintAlert is calibrated for your system to provide a zero reading. As buildup increases, the blockage indicator shows it on an LED array. You can imagine the guess work of when to schedule your next cleaning. There are so many variables. How often do you use your dryer? How cold is your attic and for how long? Could a bird nest or other obstruction be restricting flow? This device will give a real time indication. I?m comforted to have this device now. Fast forward to 2015 The Lint Alert began illuminating the up to the last two red LEDs a few months ago, so I knew it was time. They came back out cleaned it again, and now I know what the pipe looks like when the Lint Alert is maxed out.

My husband and I purchased our first home together a few short months ago. Since he's from Boston, MA, and I've only rented apartments, we've had (and still will have) so much to learn about opening and properly maintaining a home. Prior to moving, our washer and dryer both worked well without any issues. Once we moved in, we noticed that the dryer was taking an outrageously long time to dry out clothes. We weren't sure if something was damaged or josseled in the move, but nothing else was damaged by our movers and it didn't have any visible damage. Prior to spending several hundred dollars on a new dryer, we thought we would get the dryer vent checked to make sure it wasn't plugged. I found Home Safe Dryer Vent Cleaning through Google and verified their credibility through Angie's List prior to calling for an estimate. I called & emailed a total of 3 companies on a Friday morning. I received a call back from Home Safe within the hour and the professional and cheerful gentleman offered to arrange his schedule to come by for a free estimate same day. He not only called 20 minutes prior to arriving, but was spot on exactly at the house by the time he originally quoted in the morning. (That's already better than any other vendor we've dealt with in our new home) The inspector was so knowledgable, but also very thorough. He looked at the actual dryer cent connection to the wall in my laundry room, got up in the attic, and even on top of the roof - this was all included in the FREE estimate (I can't even get a free estimate / diagnostic on my car and I drive it to them!) Upon inspection, we found out that our "dryer vent" wasn't even intended to be a dryer vent! It was standard attic ventilation that had been retrofit to also include the dryer exhaust. The issue with that was two fold. 1- the escape hatch for the air was not allowing for dust or partials to be released, but was intended as air flow only. 2- the attic ventilation was exceptionally close to the plumbing pipe (I'm sure I might have that mixed up, but just know it was close to a pipe that has moisture). Needless to say, the house shouldn't have passed inspection on this item as it violates building code. We were presented with two options at this point. We could clean the vent and leave everything as is, or we could move the dryer vent to a separate / dedicated line as it should have been initially. When j was first told of the severity of the issues on the roof, I was picturing dollar signs racking up. The estimate was much less than I anticipated. I was thinking $1500, but the work was a fraction of that cost. The estimate was done on a Friday, and I had a detailed proposal including a scope of work by Monday morning. The team also arranged to have the work done for us by Monday evening due to the upcoming holiday! There is literally nothing I could find to complain about from start to finish, and nothing j would have done better if it were my own business. Great team they have there! Not only was the team knowledgeable, but they were courteous and eager to please. I would recommend this business to all my friends and family. I hope you'll try them out!

The owner himself came to do the repairs on a saturday at the recommendation of our appliance repairman (who felt that the dryer was turning off the heat due to possibly blocked vents). When he arrived, he checked the airflow and said it was already pretty good and he didn't think it would fix my issue with the dryer and asked if I still wanted him to proceed. This was quite nice! Most people would just do the work anyways! I said to go ahead since I just wanted to make sure everything was in perfect working order as I plan to stay in the house a while and want my dryer to also last a long time and function better. His work was very extensive and he even painted the new outside vent cover to better match my house. The new vent duct behind my dryer was replaced with a sturdier and shorter one which allowed the dryer to be pushed closer to the wall and give me more room in the laundry room so that was a bonus. After cleaning, the air flow improved. Unfortunately the dryer still wasn't heating (as HomeSafe had predicted) - but the applicance repairman was able to come back on Tuesday and replaced the coil and it works perfectly. Overall I'm very impressed with the company and the friendliness of the owner and his staff. I would highly recommend them.

I called HomeSafe on a Friday afternoon when I noticed a burning/smoke smell when I started drying a load of laundry. In hindsight, the dryer had also been taking 1-2 cycles to fully dry clothes, so it had probaby been getting less and less efficient over time, but I didn't think much of it until the burning smell. They were able to schedule an appointment for first thing Saturday morning; Clay called on his way to let us know when he was about 15 minutes away, arriving at 8:30 for our 8:00-10:00 appointment window. Our laundry room is on the first floor on an exterior wall, so the vent is relatively short (vents through the exterior wall immediately behind the dryer). The vent cleaning was $129 and seemed very thorough, using various tools and a vacuum to clean out the vent, as well as the lint buildup in the dryer itself (beyond the lint trap - an additional $29). Clay noted that our vent hose and exterior vent cover were not up to current code and were contributing to the lint problem and creating a potential fire hazard (we had a plastic, not metal, hose, and the exterior vent cover had a screen on it that was clogged up with lint). We agreed to replace both, which ran an additional $29 for the hose and $89 for the vent cover. The total charge was $276 + tax, so right at $300 all in. In total, the vent cleaning and the replacement of parts took about an hour and 15 minutes. Clay was very professional and our laundry room was left spotless. Clay took air flow readings before and after the cleaning; I don't remember the exact numbers but it was quite a dramatic difference (like 8 to 35). We were very pleased and would definitely recommend them! This company only does dryer vent cleaning (no air duct cleaning, dryer repair, etc) so they are very specialized - this is all they do.

During the September visit for dryer vent inspection, the tech inadvertently damaged the vent on the roof, which allowed the area to leak during heavy rain. We did not notice since it hadn't rained heavily until May 2014. In May, I observed water dripping through the ceiling in the shower. We contacted Jacob at HomeSafe about the problem and he sent two techs to check it out. I observed them as they inspected the problem both inside the attic and on the roof. They contacted Jacob to discuss a solution which resulted in their decision to install a new and much better vent than the original. They also reworked the pipe in the attic to connect to the new vent. The techs sealed everything very well and even matched the shingles on the roof. In addition, Jacob dispatched Dan Golden of Drywall Repair Service, Granbury, Texas to repair the sheetrock above the shower. The 2 foot square area looks like new. We understand that things can happen and that the important thing is how a company responds to an issue. We were very impressed with how Jacob handled the entire situation. At no time were we asked to spend additional money - all the work was at Jacob's expense. The promptness, thoroughness and professionalism by all involved resulted in a superior resolution.
Description of Work: HomeSafe Dryer vent came to our house to address an issue that was caused from an original visit in September 2013.
