+ -1 moreGreat! It went fantastic and the car was probably there two days. There was a back bumper that had to be replaced and a back quarter panel on the car. We have been using them for about 10 years and whenever they give you an estimate on cost, it holds true, there is no surprises. When you come back it is even going to be more expensive. They explain very clearly what the problem is and what they are going to do to repair that problem and they get the car back in a pretty timely manner. So it works out real good.
Description of Work: We always use Acme Garage. The last time i was there they replaced a bumper.

Description of Work: Went very well. The truck had to have parts ordered so it took a few extra days. The service was excellent. I wish they would have communicated better.

+ -1 moreAcme Garage was an awesome experience. I called and was able to take my car in and pick it up the same day. All personnel were very friendly and professional. Although they only had to bleed my brakes and add brake fluid, they were not like many other automobile shops that say you need other work done or charge you an outrageous price for something that is netiher time consuming or difficult...in other words, they didn't take advantage of me because I'm a woman. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I took my car in for problems with the brakes.

+ -1 moreCustomer satisfaction is not a priority for this garage. At least...the cultivation of new customers is not a priority. I will never go back...nor will I recommend to others.
Description of Work: Acme is in my neighborhood and I had had good service from them in the past on a Ford and Chrysler. Therefore, I decided to bring my Jaguar into the shop for them to determine why my service engine light was on. A diagnosis was run and a temporary fix performed for $85/each service - totaling $170.00. The mechanic recommended approximately $800-900 worth of repair and did not inform me/nor get my approval on the fees associated with the diagnosis or temporary repair. FYI: The service engine light came back on 5 miles from the shop. When I took the car to another mechanic, he did not see any of the issues Acme 'found'. Further research is needed to find out why the light was coming on. I asked them to also look at my brakes while the car was in the shop. They indicated that the rear brakes needed to be replaced and rotors turned. I approved the work. My brakes have squealed ever since the repair - I took the car to another mechanic and they say that happens when people are not aware of how to properly install these items on Jaguars. I will have to pay to have the work redone on my brakes. I know that garages need to charge for diagnosing problems. However, with EVERY other mechanic I have gone to, if work is authorized (such as my authorizing the repair of my brakes), the estimate/diagnostic fee is applied to the work performed. The ONLY reason I authorized the brake repair is to compensate the garage for their time and effort diagnosing my service engine light. I did NOT authorize a temporary fix for an additional $85. Finally, the garage totaled my invoice incorrectly - $20 in the favor of Acme. I called, they flippantly indicated I was correct, and I could stop by the shop if I wanted to.

+ -1 moreThe truck first died when the timing chain broke. We fixed that ourselves. Thought that was all that was wrong with the truck. When we ran it, it ran terribly & we found out we had water in the oil. Knew right away the head gaskets were blown. Called around to several other companies on Angie's List and found ACME to be the most reasonable. Had the vehicle towed and they promised it within a week. When they sent the heads to see if they could be "shaved" they were told they were bad and could not be saved (saw all parts). The heads were replaced and the men took it for a test drive. Called us and we went to speakto them. They told us what they needed to do, how much it would cost and we let them repair the vehicle. (Mind you, this is an 84 Chevy truck). The let us go down and watch, they explained everything & stated they would not let the vehicle go to us "if it had problems." They warrant their work, were very pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable. We were very happy with their services and I will use them again! Don't expect a fancy waiting room as there is none. Do expect fair & honest men to work on your vehicle.
Description of Work: 2 new head gaskets; remove oil pan; replace oil parings; repair drain plug; oil change/filter; oil pan gasket, oil pressure switch; oil pump; oil pump screen; radiator & fan clutch.

+ -1 moreThe mechanic discovered the drive belt for the power steering was damaged and was hitting the side of the engine. He called me to let me know what he had found. I let him know that I had just had the belt replaced last week. He gave me the option to return to the original shop to have it replaced. I opted to let him replace it and I would deal with the original shop later. He replaced the belt in a very short time and called me to let me know the car was ready.
Description of Work: Loud noise in engine area. Mechanic replaced accessory drive belt.

+ -1 moreThey did a good job, and I am pleased with them. They are not reasonable. I paid them a lot of money and it could be reasonable. I did not shop around. They are located close by, and I trust them. I got them off Angie’s list. I have dealt with many mechanics, and I think that they are really reputable. I think they did their best. They always try to accommodate me when I want. They are willing to drive me home. I do not know if they are expensive, but I am okay with me. They are very friendly. The guy that owns the garage is not always there. He is a very nice pleasant man. They take their time to explain things to me and answer all my questions. Sometimes there is just one guy there. They are closed on Fridays and Saturdays and that could be a problem.
Description of Work: I use Acme Garage on a regular basis. I got back my car today. I took my car there, and they brought me back home. They replaced the shocks and changed the oil. They also replaced the transmission few months ago.

+ -1 moreCar would vibrate when brakes were applied. Curtis diagnoised and called me with an estimate. I called and made an appointment on friday and he made an appointment for the following Monday. I took the car in and got it back the following day. He fixed the problem in a timly manner at a fair price. Curtis's wife runs the office and in her own right is very professional. I liked working with both and would not hesitate in recommending them for any auto repairs.

+ -1 moreWell about a month ago I had the guys at Acme garage replace an alternator on my Honda accord. It has almost 200,000 miles on it, so I told them to also replace some of the belts and do whatever needed to be done to keep the car on the road for another 100,000 miles. They had the opportunity to suggest replacing things that didn't need replaced at that point but nothing like that happened. Some of the things I thought needed to be done they actually told me didn't need to be done yet. No up sell here. A few weeks later, I had an accident on the highway as I referred to above and had my car towed back to them for some major repair work. They worked with the insurance company and did great work. Along with the mechanic work, there was some paint work involved and I'm not sure who they had do the painting but you can't even tell that it was ever damaged. The new paint blends perfectly with the 10 year old paint. The car looks and runs great!
Description of Work: Semi-major repairs from hitting a curb almost head on going about 70 mph (long story and hard to explain but no alcohol or injuries were involved!)

He will get all of my future auto work. My husband is going to be taking his vehicle over there soon. I would recommend him.
