Jerry Potts Car Care Center

Our 20 year old Jeep Cherokee broke down and three different mechanics suggested scrapping it, or replace the engine. So we shopped for another used car and selected Jerry Potts Car Care for a pre-purchase inspection. Jerry’s team was so thorough that we asked them to take a look at our Jeep. Jerry was confident that he could fix it, and that the issue was not engine-related. He was right on both counts! Jerry is extremely skilled and experienced, his daughters are wonderful to work with and his team obviously knows what they’re doing. This review is written months after the repair and the Jeep is still going strong.

Great! How much do I depend on Jerry Potts? Well, I timed my trip from Tallahassee Florida to get my maintenance done. It is now December and I'm back - oil change and probably read break pads. In past they have done major repairs such as catalytic converter on my other cars. I've been using Jerry since 2001.

Excellent service and customer attention

I would highly recommend Jerry Potts! Honest and trustworthy. They evaluated the vehicle very quickly and were great about talking through the various repairs and what could be option and what really had to be done. They even talked with me about the balance of saving money by slower shipping of parts verses the speed of getting the car fixed and let me make those decisions. I'm so thankful I found them!

The repairs went very well. Most places would have replaced transmission rather than get a second opinion to replace a couple of valves which in turn saved me plenty of cash! Was kept informed throughout the repair process.

My wife took the car in they did and they were real cordial to her explain everything to her very well so I really like that, I don't want to say take advantage of her or anything but it's just hard for her to take the car in but they were really really good with it.

My brakes needed to be replaced. New to the area, I checked several places and decided on Jerry Potts Car Care. I waited and it only took about 3 hours to order in the parts, do the repairs, and send me on my way. The front desk staff was very nice and explained what was going on at each step. I expected to wait several days and spend a lot more. I was pleasantly surprised at the price and the quickness of the repair. I will be back again.

Timely courteous service and excellent job

They were great Mr. Potts made sure my truck was done on time had his tech work overtime to get my truck done they were very professional showed me all the parts and explained why they had to make all the repairs that they also showed me all the old parts that came out of the truck. Mr Potts kept me informed each day that he had my truck for repairs.

I was trying to get my car to pass the state emissions test and had to get the "Check Engine" light issue resolved. Jerry Potts was able to diagnose my car right away. Unfortunately, finding the replacement part was a problem - not Jerry Potts' fault. Once they got the part, things went smoothly. They told me how to drive the car for the next few days to get the computer on my car to "mature" the "Check Engine" fault which the emission test would read. I did have the "Check Engine" light come back on about a week later, but Jerry Potts took care of my car without any additional cost. This family-owned and run auto repair shop has my highest recommendation. They were professional and nice to deal with at each step of the process. I will definitely be taking my cars to them in the future.

I didn't have to wait long and they found and resolved the problem quickly and inexpensively. This was my second time to use them and I trust their work.

I love Jerry and his crew. They are professional and honest. His daughters run the counter and always have a smile for me when I come in, which I do frequently due to high mileage cars I own. I would not hesitate to take any vehicle to him regardless of complexity.

Extremely impressed with the professionalism of everyone here. My most recent visit, the mechanic took me to my truck and went over several items that could use attention in the future. I trust this shop with all my repairs.

Very professional, got to work on the car immediately

We did a temp fix because I was going out of town. There's currently a recall on that. They worked on the car for about 4-5 hours and correctly diagnosed the problem. The daughter of Jerry Potts runs the front office and she is very well informed -- she knows exactly what is going on!

Service was prompt (it was scheduled). A small issue was found and repaired for a minimal fee.

Jerry Pots Car Care Center did good. I was happy with them. He explained everything thoroughly to me up front. It's been a while since he did everything but the car is still working great. I have a high mileage car so changing the transmission fluid can be a pretty touchy thing. I could have gotten it done cheaper but his quality of service is great so it was worth it.

awesome! We really trust these guys. From the girls at the front desk to the to the technicians to the owner. It is so hard these days to find people who do great work that you can trust that don't charge an arm and a leg or try to get you to do more than you need to. Very prompt in returning calls and prices were fair. Paid them and took the car and it's working great. They will communicate with you on your level.

Jerry discussed the options whether to buy another vehicle, source the engine on my own and have him install it, or have him do the entire thing. He did not pressure me either way, even though I was quite indecisive and my decision took us past closing time. I liked him... and due to his reputation on Angie's List, AND due to the last 5 years of disappointing service with other mechanics, I opted to let him handle the complete job, replacing the engine with a remanufactured unit from his preferred source. It wasn't the cheapest option, but it was the easiest. He insisted that we bring it back to him for the first oil change after 500 to 700 miles, so he could look over the job again to check for anything that may have developed since the installation. I had it back for a few tweaks, which he covered under the warranty he offered and the engine exchange has worked out fine. There were a couple of inconsistencies during the process, but I never did discussed them with Jerry, choosing to let them slide and give the benefit of the doubt. If I had not grown up the son of a self-employed auto mechanic, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it. And I might just be a little bit picky. :) ---- I actually took the vehicle to Jerry today, for another problem. Seems the 1999 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee's have an issue with a "swishing sound" behind the dash, or, as my daughter says, "an ocean in the glovebox." One of Jerry's adult daughter's (who works behind the front desk) has a Grand Cherokee and had the same problem, and a customer next to me shared his identical experience with his former Cherokee. I expect Jerry will take care of this for me in the fairest possible way. With 5 used vehicles in the family, with 900,000 miles between them, I need ONE, solid, reliable, fair, trustworthy mechanic. So far, Jerry is my guy.
