Neal is a really nice person, and always communicated with us. We appreciated his knowledge, professionalism and his top-notch plans to accomplish our structural project of our home remodel. He gave us options to choose to accomplish our plans. If ever neccessary we will definately use him again! We were very impressed with his very detailed plans and could not have progressed without them.

Neal was very easy to work with. He took the information and drew up clear, consise, easy to understand plan and explained what I needed to do to properly pour concrete footings.

Neal worked quickly to help me plan for a support wall removal after a water damage incident. He was great with communication and letting me know my options. The drawings were completed faster than I was expecting as well.

Neal was great and was able to come out to our house expeditiously and worked around our schedules. He provided us with everything we needed to know and gave us great suggestions regarding what we were looking to do with our remodel. We're very happy and thankful.

This man seemed very professional, but I was somewhat dissatisfied with two things; 1) he told me after the inspection he would recommend businesses to do any or all repairs. I clarified this would include interior damage caused by the potential structural damage and he agreed. This was not the case. I felt like this was part of the service I paid for, since it was agreed upon prior to me contracting him. When I brought this to his attention, he stated he would not recommend anyone, and that I should check with the BBB for contractors to do the work. This just was not acceptable; however, I had already paid him in full, so there's little I could do. 2) he recommend a beam be removed under my sink area. This beam had recently been installed by another structural engineer hired by my association. I had two other companies agree that the beam should be placed there to prevent sagging under my kitchen counters. I inquired about this beam and asked if he was sure it should be removed. He did not care to elaborate, but only suggested that it be removed. You would think a detailed explanation would be possible, as this man is not inexpensive. Anyway, he seemed very detailed, and he was polite, but I would have hoped he would have fulfilled the terms he agreed upon prior to receiving payment. If I had to hire another structural engineer, I would not hire him again for this reason.

Neal was very practical, did not try to upsell us at all. He educated us on the issue we called about (cracked rafters) so that we understood our home better. Then he explained the type of tradesman we needed and gave us the specs for the tradesman to follow. Then came back to inspect the work and certify our roof as being in good shape should we ever go to sell the house. Overall, a very good experience.

Neil was great to work with. He even dealt with my lack of savvy on emails,I know I had to drive him crazy.

I was so happy to find Neal at R4 Engineering. He was so knowledgeable and helpful. I just moved into a beautiful, grand, historic 100 year old home in East Nashville. But there are real floor issues from the house settling over time. I was concerned about proceeding with a renovation of this magnitude, until I knew what the extent and cost of repair could entail.
