The positives: The carpentry work was excellent, cost was fair, fence looks wonderful, and the clean up they did was slow but completed. The negatives: These are minor things but I feel they need to be mentioned. We were given a time estimate that did not match up to the actual time it took to get the fence torn down and a new one built. This became a hardship for us as we had no secure area for our dog for 7 days. We had been told it was a 3-4 day job, but only one man was sent to tear down the old and build the new. With the exception of the last day he worked, he stayed less than 4 hours at a time. This meant work was spread across a 7 day period with most days of work being minimal. The majority of the work was all done on the day of completion, and at that point a second worker was there to assist with gate installation for the last hour or so. Communication with the customer is so important. There was only one call made to us during the duration of the work. It was about the expected day of fence tear down, giving us only a half hour or so to prepare. Had they explained to us that they were short staffed or that it might be a 3-4 day job that would span 7 days, I think we would have been more understanding and less frustrated with our time without a secure area in our backyard. When I called one day to ask when the worker would be back (since he did not show up daily in succession), the office worker didn't know when he would be returning and offered to call back when she did know. She never called back. They have room for improvement in terms of their communication with the customer. I would also recommend not paying them to do the haul away of an old fence, because it's possible they won't remove the debris from your property for several days (ours sat for 6 days), and individuals in the community may come and take the debris you were contracted to pay the company to remove. Also, if your city's large trash pick up removes it before the company does, they may not be willing to fully refund you the extra amount you were contracted to pay for the haul away service. (On our quote it was $100 more to haul off our property than just moving the debris to the curb). I confronted them about this and was told after we had signed the contract they would only give us $80 of that $100 back if the city took it before they took it off our property. Overall we were very pleased with their service, but they do need to make some improvements in their customer communication and let the customer know up front that it may take them longer to complete the work and that it may take them several days to haul any debris away.
Description of Work: We needed an 125' of old, 6' wood privacy fence torn down and a new one built with 2 5' walk gates.
