Description of Work: My review reflects mixed feelings, but I want to give the provider the benefit of the doubt. Therefore the grading is inconsistent. | |I ordered an air conditioning maintenance special from the List. We're new to the area and are trying to find providers that we can establish a trustworthy relationship with as we had at our former home. It hasn't been easy, even using the List. So Mechanical Doctor has been the third HVAC provider we sourced. We always use A rated firms with multiple reviews to insure the least chance of disappointment. This time was not different. Our previous providers were either pricy or didn't leave us fully confident and therefore the search. | |Mechanical Doctor wasn't the cheapest, but from talking with the owner, I felt he was knowledgeable and trustworthy enough to stand behind his service. The customer service in contact and availability was spot on. The problem came when the tech who showed up,said immediately I needed a new thermostat since the existing one was not appropriate and wouldn't provide proper functioning. After installation, he came back inside and told us that the A/C condenser was frozen. So now our expected service cost jumped 400%. I asked why he felt that we still needed the new thermostat if the motor was frozen, of course the thermostat wouldn't start the unit. He stuck to his belief that the former thermostat was the wrong type for our system. Ok, we paid our bill and sought relief for the hottest summer in many years. | |Earlier this week, we turned on the heat since we've acclimated to the Carolina climate our blood has thinned. We set the thermostat at 68 and woke to 59 in the house. The furnace was not kicking in. I called MD and talked again to the owner. He sent his top tech - Kevin - out right after the call. Kevin checked the furnace and the new thermostat. Surprise the former tech, who put the stat in, hooked it up for a heat pump configuration, exactly why he said our former stat was inappropriate. we don't have a heat pump. | |So why write a positive review? Because Mechanical Doctor stood behind their service. Immediate contact, the representative - Kevin - left me comfortable with his knowledge and his apology for the mistake caused by their former rep. I received a credit for our trouble, and our home is comfortable again. Everyone can have a mistake, both in hiring and execution. The previous tech, who caused the blunder, left the company after other customers also complained. So I won't let the issues of an individual ruin what an entrepreneur has otherwise seemed to positively try to build. The other great reviews seem to indicate unfortunately that I was due for a challenge. But MD made it right. I'll give them another chance, it could be the beginning of a great relationship.

Description of Work: The date of service was February 9, 2015 and the cost of service was approximately $150. A little expensive but overall excellent service.

Description of Work: They came out for the winter checkup on my furnace. On time, very efficient. I'll see them again in the spring

Description of Work: Justin did an over and above super gas log service. He removed and cleaned |the log set and pilot assembly. Tested wall switch, thermocoupler and thermopile. Also checked for carbon monoxcide and replenished ember. Would not think of using any other company for future needs.

Description of Work: Service contract for fall and spring. On call for any issues in the interim 7 days a week as first priority customer. Very professional. Installed my system so had valuable history.

Description of Work: I purchased the annual maintenance pkg for $149.00. The October visit was for fall maintenance. Unfortunately Kevin found an expensive capacitor that required replacement. I am very confident that Mechanical Doctor professionals are experts in heating/cooling systems.
