We had to have a workman out several times to adjust the system to work correctly; including installing a new entry panel twice. The sales rep and repair service were difficult to get a response to them; and when finally contacted did not have a person in our area on duty, so one had to be scheduled to come in from somewhere else. The first time that was scheduled the workman did not show up; when I called they apologized and sent someone else in a couple of days. That workman was critical of how things had been installed. We also discovered that they had not connected the heat and smoke alarm to the central monitoring system; but werei simply local alarm systems. That is fine for when we are at home, but what about when we might be on a trip or out of contact for a day; if a fire broke out there would have been not protection. This workman was the first one who informed us that the window alarms no longer were operational because the glass breaks and motion sensor "replaced' them. We were under the impression that the window alarms and sensors were both operational. I called about that and they said no it had been installed the new way and the installation warranty had expired. When an entry panel failed later that year and I called to have a workman sent out. I was promised contact within a few days. Weeks later I called again; and asked for someone to come out again. When I was again they had no workman in the area, they would have to contact someone to come out to do the work. I declared my intent to cancel the system altogether since it was inoperable in its present state, why should I have to pay for a service that did not service my needs. A workman did call and scheduled to come out in a couple of weeks. The work was done and he seemed competent at what he was doing, but expressed his dissatisfaction with the firm because of shoddy work and poor service. We changed our home phone number and wanted to add our cell phone contact numbers for the monitoring service. That was never done, even will multiple repeat calls. Later that year another firm took over the monitoring service and they took care of the contact number issue. We have had good service from the monitoring folks since; and have not had to have a serviceman in to fix anything lately. However, now we have sold our home and are moving out. Since the original contract was for 60 months, we cannot cancel the service; and if we transfer the service to our new home, we have to up for another 60 month contract there; otherwise it is pay in full now or over the time of the contract; even though we nor the new owners will be using the service. The new owners may take over the service contract and that is the only way we will not be responsible to pay in full. How can I recommend this service to the new owners when we have had such horrible service over these last two years? Why would I want to transfer the same horrible service to a new home? I may end up having to pay in full; over the next three years for a service we do not use. I learned a lesion in that one. However, I wanted to let my co-users of Angie's List know about the poor service we have had with this firm. I would not recommend them to anyone; rather I would strongly advise against using this service by anyone.
