Excellent, work was complete and the door was once again in working order in under 30 minutes!

Technician arrived at scheduled time and began immediately. There was a short in the lightbulb socket as I suspected and the keypad had stopped working, despite a new battery. Since no parts are available on my 20 year old motor, he suggested that I replace it with a new one. The charge for the new motor included a new keypad and the additional garage door openers were $45 each. He had all of the parts and equipment needed to complete the job on his truck and was done within an hour. He showed me how to program the new keypad and helped me do that. He also told me how to program my husband's car to open the garage door. He really knew his stuff! He also told me that when I get ready to replace my other 2 garage door motors, the new keypad can be programmed to open the other doors as well.

I called to get an estimate and left a message. Neil returned my call within 30 min. He gave me an approximate estimate over the phone. I told him I would call back after I got more estimates. He was the best one. When I called back to make an appointment he was available within a couple of days. He said he would be at my house between 9:00 am and 9:30 am and would call prior to coming. He did exactly what he said he would. He called on his way and arrived approximately 9:10. He was very polite and got right to work. He put the strip on the door and tested it. He noticed that the door was not moving smoothly. He adjusted the rails and lubed all moving parts. He did not quit until it was performing correctly. He even replaced the light bulb in the garage that was burnt out. I did not have a spare bulb, he got one out of his truck. He also fixed the door opener that was attached to the wall, it was missing a screw and was hanging loose. After doing the work that I hired him to do and all of the additional work that he did to make sure the door was operating correctly he charged me less than the estimate of $125.00.

Contacted Neil Smith, owner of Affordable Garage Doors and was given a price about $500 lower than the big box stores for better quality products. I asked for his license and insurance information, which he promptly and gladly gave. I also asked for references, and out of deference to his customers, asked for a day's time to get their permission to be contacted. I got the references the next day and after contacting them and getting a great report, hired Affordable Garage Door Repair. Neil came when he said he would, brought all of his own tools (he did forget a socket, which I loaned him and he returned) and installed the doors quickly and efficiently. HE didn't ask for any upfront money at all and I paid him in full once the job was completed. The price was exactly what we discussed. Overall a great experience with a contractor...highly recommended.

I called on 11-25-09 in the afternoon ? the day before Thanksgiving. I scheduled him to come the day after Thanksgiving. He came on time, pleasant, cooperative, brought his own ladder, fixed the door mechanism in 10 min. I was not able to open & close the door manually. Now it works perfectly. I am very pleased, as I was not able to fix the problem myself and had tried for some time. I got more than my money?s worth with NO hassle!
