Ace Wood Flooring have done unbelievable amounts of work for us, from installing tiles and laminates. They redid the wood floors in the new house we just moved into. Their work is impeccable.

"Much more difficult than described. Floor needed to be sanded first to see which pet stains would come out. Then we tested different stain colors to see which would be best and decided on an ebony stain. floors came out exceptional. Thank You"

They showed up on time with a crew ready to work. Our LR is large and the hallway is long -- both areas had OLD engineered wood floors that HAD to be removed. The DR had an old, worn carpet. the crew got right to work removing all the old flooring which was pretty bad and they removed the old carpet in DR. They cleaned up as they went which kept the dust and debris to a minimum.
They started laying the flooring later the same day and it was really gorgeous. They were courteous and very professional and even put up with my questions as they worked -- I was interested in how and why they did things the way they were doing it.
We thought it was going to be almost a whole week job due to the size of the rooms and hallway. They came the next day on time and by the end of the day it was about 85% finished!! The foreman, Jim was very meticulous in ensuring that everything was exactly to measurement.
They came on the 3rd day to put down quarter round and to totally clean up. The floors look absolutely fantastic. I wish I could attach some before and after pictures or even ones I took during the whole process.
I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great looking floor -- they are true craftsmen!

Very prompt estimate and job accomplished as promised. quality of work was excellent. Only negative was the could have done a better job putting up plastic over opening into the rest of the house. But in general a good experience .

They were fantastic! Troy and Jason came to assess the job. Gave us a quote right on the spot. Super friendly and professional. They started the job a few days later. Sealed off the rest of the house with plastic so the sand didn't get everywhere. They were done much sooner than I had anticipated! And the floors all look wonderful. A few days after completing the job someone from the office contacted me for payment. Popped a check in the mail. Easy breezy. Would hire them again in a heart beat.

We selected ACE because of all the great reviews on Angie's List. They lived up to our expectations and then some.
The work was much more labor intensive because they needed to undercut the ornate baseboard trim in dozens of areas, and then install the floor underneath it. They also had to remove the large front door and a pair of antique porch doors and then they had to shave the bottom of the doors slightly so they could close over the new floor height.
They never complained, they never hit us up for over charges, they never missed their promised dates, and the floors look spectacular.
As we continue to work on the house, we'll bring ACE back to do the same on the upstairs floors.
A small but nice note: Troy ( the owner) always answers calls and emails ? even on weekends.

Troy came to give us an estimate the day we called. We scheduled the work the next week and had to cancel because we were not ready. His workers came were very professional, clean (no dust at all), and efficient.

I am currently looking to have some work done on my hardwood floors and having recently joined Angie's list I decided to see who they recommended. Upon searching for hardwood contractors one of the first companies recommended was ACE. After reading one of their recent reviews that expressed a concern of theft by an employee I feel compelled to share my prior experience with ACE Wood Flooring.
Several years ago I contacted Troy and arranged for him to give me an estimate to refinish the hardwoods in a second floor bedroom. He gave me a fair quote and I contracted him to do the work. On the day the work was done a group of young men showed up and started the job as expected. The process was done in multiple stages during which time several crews went in an out of my house. At the time I had a brand new Nissan 350Z in my driveway. On multiple occasions throughout the day I noted several of the workers spending an inordinate amount of time looming around the car making me a little uneasy. Upon completion of the work, the floor looked ok and I was given an invoice as expected. Upon awaking and going out to the driveway the following day, I was stunned to find my car jacked up on milk crates with all 4 tires stolen.
At the time I had lived in the house for 9 years and had never experienced any acts of theft. I first filed a police report and then I called Troy to voice my concern. I explained to Troy that I had strong suspicions that my tires had been stolen by one or more of his employees. The temporal relationship of the crime and the fact that the criminals used milk crates that I had recently placed on the side of my house (suggesting it was someone who had recently been to my house and knew they were there...) made it very suspicious and likely that his workers were responsible. Given that the wheels, towing, and increase in insurance premium cost in excess of $5500, I suggested that Troy question his employees prior to my paying him the $250 owed for the work. Troy immediately stated, "If my workers did it, they didn't do it while working on the job so that's not my problem." He then went on to say, "It's fine if you don't want to pay, I'll just see you in court." The police agreed that the circumstances raised suspicion towards the ACE employees, however, I had no definitive proof and therefore the next day I drove to Troy's office and begrudgingly dropped off a check for $250.
While I had no complaints with the work, I felt given the circumstances it wasn't unreasonable for Troy, without admitting guilt, to at least offer to question the employees who had come to my house before becoming dismissive of my concerns and threatening to take me to court. While the work on my house may have been done several years ago, it would seem from a recent review that ACE may still suffer from the same problems of honesty and professionalism. Despite the work being good, I would never take another chance nor would I recommend them to someone else.

"Its hard enough these days to run a business. But when someone writes a review from 7 years ago that an Ace employee MIGHT have committed a crime. Although Ace cooperated with the authorities with names date of births etc.The homeowner felt compelled to state to Ace that one of the 3 staff members was a minority. This was offensive and ignorant and no longer open for discussion. After interviewing with the police. The detective found it improbable that the tires were stolen off the automobile. When one considers the masterbedroom window was next to the auto on this one level house and the owner had a dog. Police told Ace they found the homeowners story improbable considering the circumstances."

I called the number on a Sunday expecting to just leave my number for a return call later in the week. Troy returned my call that day. We set an appointment to come look at the job and give me a quote. I took a couple of weeks to get back to him, we booked the date for a week later. The crew arrived on time, were very professional. They explained again how the job would be performed, how long it would take, when I could walk on the floor, etc. The first day went exactly as it should have. Even after one day, the floor was incredible! I had such a dark and dirty area in front of the door that I was doubtful that it would come out so well. Day two, they performed the second coat, same routine. I arrived home very late that day, but noticed that there was a "holiday" down the center of the floor and a few rough spots on the perimeter of the hallway. I spoke with Troy the next day, he was there in 15 minutes to verify the areas, had his crew at the house in less than 1 hour to fix the issues. They did a great job, my floors literally have never looked this good. I am so pleased that I will be booking 2 more rooms this year! And quite possibly a third large room after that. Troy took no money up front, he did not hesitate to fix the spots, told me how to care for the floor in the future and was so professional throughout the experience. I have already recommended him to family and they have seen the floor and are all very impressed with the time (short) that it took, how little dust there was and how great it looks. I LOVE my floor now! Thanks Troy!!

"This entire story is 100% true. When Ace heard of the alleged incident the employee was suspended until a resolution was made.(as allowed by law). Ace did not want to accuse the not yet convicted employee of any wrong doing. Employee was told that upon successful resolution they could return to work. Around 6/1/2013 the employee contacted Ace. Stating they were pleading to misdemeanor theft on 6/10/2013. It is our understanding part of the sentence is restitution toward the victim. The former employee was then fired upon conviction. (As allowed by law) Gratefully these are the rules of our society. This former employee was subjected to the same mandatory background check as all employees are. After an extensive background check there was no reason to preclude this candidate. Ace will continue its due diligence in all its hiring practices protecting Ace as well as its customers. Ace annually completes a 1000 houses a year. Our goal is 100% satisfaction. Here at Ace we take this very serious. Thanks Ace"

I think you can tell from the last section , it has not gone well at all. I found Ace Flooring from Angie's List. I feel it is my responsibility to tell all of you out there "buyer beware". This company did not stand by its work, left the issue in my lap and was pretty hostile to boot. Definitely had attitude. I wish Angie's List let you post pictures. I have tons of pictures showing the separations throughout the house as well as nails!

"I find this review repulsive. The fact that this customer gave Ace Wood Flooring such a positive review in 2012. Then writes this review today is offensive. It is the opinion of Ace Wood Flooring that Angie's List should have not allowed this customer to post again. As told to this customer by the only certified flooring expert on scene her issue is a manufactures defect. Please note Lumber Liquidators the place that sold her the product DID NOT come out and inspect the product BUT ACE DID. By law all licensed contractors must warranty the quality of their construction for 2 years. I believe the kitchen cabinet guy who re-installed the customers wood floor took advantage of the under educated consumer. In closing this was a manufactures issue that another customer with the same product is currently working out a settlement with Lumber Liqidators. So in 6-8 months when the same thing goes wrong with this defective product will this customer write a retraction?? As a result Ace Wood Flooring will no longer install a 3rd. party material. Ace will only install a product that Ace provides."

Over all I'm happy with the results of the floors. They were able to start quickly and according to our schedule. They were prompt daily. Their prices were fair. We did have to have them buff out the kitchen and some other areas due to too much hair, brush bristles found. They fixed this with no problem or extra charge. The area they replaced in our LR came out wonderful and matched well. They did everything with professionalism.

Troy is very pleasant to deal with. No nonsense professional that got us a very reasonable quote, schedule, and expectations. Our closing date was fluctuating and Troy still made it the day after closing and knocked out the refinishing of our wood floors in three days. As for the work, I never expected such a result! The refinishing revealed deep rich colors and a shine I never thought possible. We had people over and a number of them are scheduling a job with Ace.
Any reasonable person will be happy with Ace. They know their business well, all the guys were respectful, and they left the place 100 times better than they found it.

We are very happy with the new flooring - it looks great, there is no squeaking any more, and everything is nice and tight. They had a challenge with the finish wrapping around the base of the stairs and made a template to bring back to the shop and custom build something over the weekend. They will be returning tomorrow to install that final piece.

The initial contact and discussion was very informative. The quote was slightly higher than other prices I recieved, however, I was impressed with the first contact as a reflection of the company. Everything went as scheduled. The workers arrived on time and wasted no time getting to work. The workers were very professional and curtious.With this company you get what pay for. Very satisfied.
