Kollinger Auto Body was referred to us by our insurance company. We took our vehicle to them in early December and they indicated at that time that the repair work would take no more than 1 month. We got a rental car. Nearing the 1 month time period, Kollinger indicated that our vehicle was not finished. On our rental car, we had reached the limit on which our insurance would pay for its cost. Kollinger indicated that they would pay for our rental car until the work on our vehicle was finished by them. Over the next 3 months, we received varying accounts from Kollinger representatives as to when our vehicle would be completed. We also received varying accounts as to why it was taking so long (employee turnover, damaged replacement parts, they were working on several other cars, etc.) They finally finished our vehicle in April which was nearly 4 months later. Upon picking our vehicle, the tires were extremely low on air pressure and the Kollinger representative indicated that they had also needed to replace our battery (our vehicle is only 4 years old). The quality of the actual repair work that they did on our vehicle seems fine at this point.
"hello [Removed Member Name] , thank you for taking the time to complete the review. your feed back to us is important. when your policy max was reached on your rental vehicle coverage we contacted the rental car company and switch the billing from your policy to our account. we paid $1260.00 of rental while we completed the repair of your vehicle. the original battery was in the vehicle from the manufacturer. the vehicle was produced 01/2012. the battery has a 3 year warranty from the manufacture. your battery warranty expired 01/2015. the battery was replaced at no cost to you. the tire pressure should have been checked prior to returning the vehicle to you. I am sorry we overlooked the tire pressure. the repair time to complete your vehicle is not our normal level of performance. I will be mailing you a gift certificate for a complete detail for the vehicle of your choice. please give us the opportunity to prove to you that we are able to perform in a timely manor. we strive to continuously improve the level of service we provide. please accept my apology and contact me to set up the appointment for the complementary complete detail. sincerely, Bert Kollinger"
"hello [member name removed], sorry that we did not meet your expectations. please accept my appoligy. what could we do to make it up to you? thanks, bert"
The paint would not adhere properly to the new bumper that they provided and installed, and it took a few tries to get the paint to adhere.
And then it peeled off again, a few months later.
Was told that it was not their problem ... said we must have hit something .... no we did not.
So in spite of Nationwides's guarantee, it is still the same way, with the paint peeled off of a small section.
We used these folks for decades, starting in 1980 with excellent results .... but ever since Dad retired .... gone down hill from there.
This was not the first time we had problems with them either ... they had trouble with the stripe on our truck, so without letting us know ... the price increased to over $1000, the threashold for our insurance company to charge us with the accident ... so we had to pay three years of higher premiums ... it would have cost us less if we had paid for the stripe ourselves but we were never advised of the increase until it was too late to do anything. Not that we even needed that stripe on a 1989 truck anyway!
Second mess up was the deal breaker, for us.
"i am trying to find your file in our computer. what is the year, make and model of the vehicle we did repairs on? thank you, bert"
"Member, I am sorry to hear of your treatment. This is NOT the way we normally do business. You are right, we should have scheduled you in advance. Do you recall the staff member that was handling your repairs? They will not be in trouble, however, this is an opportunity for me to address their poor interaction with you so other clients will not have the same experience that you had. If you give us another opportunity to serve you please contact me directly at 412-889-3994. I will ensure you will be satisfied and I will also give you a discount or additional service at no cost to you. Sorry for your experience. Thank you, Al Kollinger, Owner."
"THANK YOU FOR THE KIND WORDS. WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS. AL KOLLINGER"
"THANK YOU FOR RECOMMENDING US. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS WITH THIS TYPE OF SERVICE."
