The crew was professional and left everything neat and clean. J Scott answered all of my questions and left me with an informative book explaining how to take care of my driveway after their services were completed.

They did a really nice job and they turned it around very quickly.

George responded to my email inquiry via angle's List. I sent a message one night and he called me the next morning. He came to my house and we discussed my issues, he made suggestions which I accepted. He gave me a fair price and I accepted it. They did the job a few days later. His crew showed up and went right to work. They were friendly, pleasant and competent. The job took about six hours and they crew was responsive to my concerns. It could not have been a better paving experience. We have had to rain days since and the water no longer comes in from the street. The water now runs away from the house as we had requested. His equipment seemed to be in excellent condition and the crew was hard working.

From the first phone call with their office, through getting the estimate, through scheduling and completion of the work, the team at J. Scott were easy to work with, fair, and lived up to what they had promised. Both we and our neighbors, who went in with us on the work, are extremely satisfied with the results.

Overall wonderful experience! John was great and his crew did a great job.

i found george scott, the paving contractor on angies list and saw that he was highly reccommended. i gave him a call and he responded right a way. we made an appointment for him to come out and look at the job that needed to be done. he came when he was scheduled to come over right on time. right away i could see that he was a real profesional by the way he introduced himself and went about looking over the job. he explained that he did just the driveway and that he knew of a cement contractor that would do the cement work. he gave me an estimate within about 15 minutes. he asked me how soon would i like it done. i said asap. i signed the contract 4/7/20012 and the whole job was complete by 4/13/2012. these two contractors were the easiest contractors i'v e dealt with in a long time. they both came when they were suppose to, did an outstanding job and i would never hesitate to hire either one of these profesionals again.

George responded quickly to the quote request, offered several options, and quoted competitively. His crew came as promised, worked in a professional manner, and cleaned up after the job. The finished result looks great. I highly recommend his service.

They brought in an extra 35 tons of fill dirt that I did not get charged for. They stuck with their quote. They were done in one day. I was very impressed to see the owner of the company out there getting dirty with his employees. I was very satisfied.

It was very good. I would give them the highest rating. It went very well.

George Scott has the patience of Job. He responded immediately to my request for a quotation, and explained everything when he visited. My travel schedule meant that I took a long time to make a decision, and still George fit the job into the autumn schedule. George kept me updated on the schedule, and arrived when promised. He was very patient while I obsessed over certain details! Not that I needed to worry-- thorough, excellent work appears to be the SOP for this company. Weather delayed completion of the paving, but with some luck and J SCOTT's willingness to work when most people take the day off (like the day after Thanksgiving), the repaving was completed quickly after the weather cleared. The crew was professional and friendly, and was conscientious about my property and that of my neighbors. I recommend J SCOTT if you need concrete or asphalt paving!

I got only one estimate for this job. My driveway was beaten up over the years and it needed work quickly and most pavers don’t do work after a certain time of the year because of moisture and temperature issues. I selected this person truly on the fact that all Angie’s List people were happy with him. The thing that blew me away was that it was a completely family run business. They have these humongous trucks and they are all organized. It looks like as a family they went together to some class because of the way they conduct business with the customer is exactly or almost the same as the other person would have said. If there is a certain demeanor it is very customer oriented. They have open questions as far as satisfaction goes during the process and after the process. I told them they missed a couple of spots and they came back and fixed it and showed me that they fixed it. They asked me if there was anything else and they know what they are doing in their business. The quality of the work seems good. The cost of the estimate seemed main stream pricing. The whole paving is some sort of a racket and I think part of it was a zip code issue. I thought he was a competitive person because he responded quickly and some people don’t respond. His price was within the market. I think he works by volumes and it is like if he gets enough of work then he would make a good amount of money. I had a driveway that was never done before and he came and did whatever was required. He said it would take a year to cure and you should do it by next year and then it would be good for several years.

I got their name from Angie's List and they did a superb job. They carefully prepared the surface and did a good job of laying down the asphalt. There happened to be some people on site for construction and they were impressed. They just prepared it well and did it well, and it held up well. I would give them the highest ratings on everything.

Everything was done in two and a half hours. We were impressed with the workers as well as the end result, our beautiful new driveway. Mr. Scott was honest and professional each time we spoke with him. He explained what would be best for our situation but let us chose how we wanted the job done. He called the day before the work was done to see if this is still what we wanted. We will definitely call on Mr. Scott's team for future work.

I cannot say enough positive things about dealing with J.Scott Paving Company. They have always been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Once I got the estimate for the job and faxed a signed copy back to them to begin work, they were on site just a few days later, exactly on time, to get the job done. They prepped the surface, used a weedwacker to cut back some grass near the edge of the asphalt, then used a leaf blower to remove every last bit of debris. After the hot oil was applied, we had to wait two days before using the drive for our cars. With the hot oil, the surface glistened just like the driveway did right after it was installed two years ago. My mail carrier saw the finished job and really was impressed. I gave him Scott's phone number because he wanted his drive to look the same! I explained to him (as it was explained to me) that hot oil won't show cracks like the latex or water based coatings do. I also remember that all the snow we had literally slid off the driveway (like Teflon) while shoveling it during the heavy snows last winter. I recommend Scott Paving 150%!

Overall a very positive experience. George Scott was extremely responsive on both phone and email. On the day the paving was scheduled it was raining fairly hard. George Scott sent me an email and left a phone message giving me a status update before I had eaten breakfast. The crew arrived at the time they indicated and went right to work. The quality of the work was excellent. Only disappointment was that both Angies List and their website indicated they took credit card for payment. Unfortunately they are no longer able to do that. Otherwise a very positive experience with J. Scott Paving.

The crew arrived at the time stated by Mr. Scott and began work the first day. He estimated a day and a half for both jobs and the crew met that timeframe. The workers moved quickly and did a lot of the digging for pipework by hand since there was not enough room to bring in even a small backhoe to assist with the digging. They were conscientious of items around the property including lights along the driveway and flower beds. The work site was cleaned up to my satisfaction. The workers were professional and I would not hesitate to hire J Scott again for work.

Because of crummy weather service was delayed. George provided heads-up and work was performed over a several day period, Mr. J Scott contacted me after work was performed and asked if I was satified with the job. Informed him that due to rain some touch-up on seal job was necessary. We scheduled and work was performed. Very service oriented family. Kudos.

John Scott, the owner, was very personable. He gave us a very good detailed estimate. The work was done when it was scheduled to be done. He was very good about saying that he would be available at a particular time and he was within a day or so, so that was fine. He did work within that way. He was great. I don't think I can say anything about the price since I have never done that before. I paid it so I guess that's good. I don't know if it is applicable or appropriate or not, but I just don't think I have enough expertise to say accurately one way or another.

He responded to me promptly. He met my every obligation related to the schedule. He gave me a very thorough write-up on what he was doing and why he was doing what he was doing. He and his team were here when he said they would be here, and they accomplished the task in the amount of time that he had indicated they would accomplish the task in. I had a modest followup problem, which he solved within a matter of about 24 hours from when I mentioned it to him. The only experience that I have had with paving has been with them, and it has been outstanding. I have nothing to compare their work to. They were a little more expensive than the other estimates that I received, but because of the thoroughness of what he indicated he was doing and the fact that he was doing some things that others had either not mentioned or not thought of, I felt it was worth the additional cost. I am satisfied with the quality of their work, and I have no complaints about their professionalism. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

They explained everything. They came back six months later to seal it as a part of the agreement which cost an additional $300. It went very well. They were very professional and they stood by their work. We are getting big puddles in our driveway now and we are not sure if it is because they did not grade it correctly. This is the only problem that we see now. We have been getting some heavy rains and we don't know if it is because of something that they did wrong or if it is because of the slope of the driveway. We would use them again as we were satisfied with them overall. We recently contacted them for a quote for a patio but they don't do patios.

They were very personable. The guy who owns the company is a really nice guy. I was flexible and he said he could schedule my job in between other bigger jobs and so I had to wait. I waited a few weeks and so they had a few days downtime between bigger jobs and they gave me a cheaper rate in order to do that. He was flexible and I was flexible so we worked it out. It was good.

J. Scott Paving installed a 2” asphalt surface over our old binder coating and we couldn’t be more pleased! I called for an estimate in the morning and John was out the same afternoon to provide the quote. After reviewing the quote, I had some questions (was the 2” pre or post compaction, and the mix they were proposing was different from what I was seeing from other bids). George called me back and we spent a good 20 minutes on the phone walking through the quote and the differences between the mixes (I actually had found some research on the internet before he called me back and what he told me was exactly what I had found on Penn-DOT’s site!) Oh, and it was 2” post compaction. While unusual, we agreed that they would try and give me a weeks lead time for the work which they did. On the day the work was completed, their crew came out, their foreman was very polite and professional and raised a concern about the driveway which John and I had discussed during the quote. As a result, John came out to the site and the three of us discussed how to handle a low pitched portion of the driveway. I knew this was an issue and they did their very best job to rectify the solution without ripping out the entire driveway and starting over. We only have minor ponding in the area, even after Hurricanes! My brother is a home builder and both he and my father were impressed with the quality of the final product especially given the price. I have already referred them to some business colleagues and my father will be using them for his complete driveway replacement next spring. Their quote was 35% lower than the next lowest!

J. Scott was one of two companies invited to estimate the cost of seal-coating a shared driveway. George Scott, a principal in the company, visited the site the day after I called, and left a typewritten, thorough report. He provided two options, with costs: A) seal-coating, which he did not recommend because of the deteriorated state of the driveway; and B) re-paving the driveway at, of course, a significantly, but seemingly fair, cost. I agreed with his assessment, but we were not prepared at this time to undertake a more expensive project. My neighbor and i agreed to seal-coat for one more year (to help keep the asphalt from deteriorating even more, maybe), and we will have the driveway re-paved next summer. J. Scott's price for seal-coating was somewhat higher than the other vendor's price, so we went with the lower bid. However, I anticipate hiring J. Scott for the repaving project based on their professionalism, promptness and honesty in their assessment. They were polite and professional on the phone when I called initially as well as when I called to tell them someone else was hired to do the seal-coating. I will invite the company to look again to see if the repaving cost has changed significantly, but I do intend to hire this company again based on my experience with them.

George Scott came out to look at our driveway the same day I called. His estimate was reasonable and included everything we needed to have our cracked, bumpy, disintegrating, hilly driveway redone. The work was done about 2 weeks later, in one afternoon. We were very pleased with the quality and professionalism of this company.

They were expensive and so I didn’t use them. I was searching for someone less expensive.
