my roof trim following a storm over the weekend. He told me he was working another job but
that he would be free Friday AM . I took a picture of the damage and sent it to
him. We set up an early morning
connection. On Friday AM Isaac called me
to let me know he was on the way. He arrived as scheduled. Looked at the project and decided he could
repair the damage from the roof which actually saved him set up time and me
money. He immediately devised a plan to
attack the project and accomplished the job without incident. He was professional, personable and
skilled. I very much appreciated meeting
him and will absolutely hire him to do future fix it projects when the needs
arise. BTW he charged me half of his
original quote due to the fact he could access the job without complicated set
up. I rate him an A+. I am a satisfied customer and would recommend
him to friends for fix it needs. Kevin

During the course of his work though we came to the house twice and no one---not Isaac, nor any of his crew---were on site. This made us worry that he wouldn't be done in time, but being completely overwhelmed in our moving/closing process we let it go. We shouldn't have. It was short-sighted, and foolish.
One evening they took off for a wedding, which is understandable, but the next day he was bleary-eyed (he may not have slept at all!) when we saw him at our house the next day. It didn't seem like the best state to be in for labor intensive work like painting.
I was annoyed that he took a day or two extra to finish the job, but I was excited about the house, so when we shook hands and handed over the final check I told him, "Thanks, it looks good!"
Fast forward. We've been in our new home since October 1st, and the poor quality of work in some areas is really showing through: in some rooms the paint was taken to neither the ceiling nor the floor. Edges weren't straight. Holes were not patched. It seemed rather apparent by the time we started to work a little bit in the third bedroom that a second coat of paint was never applied. The kitchen has a series of patch-looking sections all along it--was something spackled but not sanded enough?
A white spot in an otherwise blue room--simply not painted...?
We started going about spackling and sanding and as we began to touch up with paint it became apparent that most of the cans were painted shut--I'm guessing the paint was completely cleaned from the rim and hence created a bond. Flathead screw driver to "pop" the lid didn't work; pliers to pull at the lid didn't work. It was incredibly frustrating.
We realize that people work hard and painting is not an easy job, but we do not feel like the time and dedication that should have been put into this job was put into it.
"I had no negative comments from these customers while working, and when the job was completed we parted on good terms. So I was surprised to find this negative review on Angie's List. If I had been contacted at any point after the job was completed I would have gladly come out and made any necessary changes. I actually still have before and after pictures of our work since it was such a drastic change! (Happy to share them if interested, contact info at end of response.) In the meantime, here's my perspective on this job for anyone that's interested in a more complete picture. I was contacted and told that they could not find a contractor to paint their house in time for them to move in. I made their job a priority due to their time constraints. The house had been lived in by heavy smokers for years and all surfaces were severely smoke stained and stank horribly. Ceilings, walls, and wood work were all washed, scraped, prepped, then sealed to keep the nicotine/smoke stains and smell from bleeding through the paint, then given two top coats. It was a lot of work and I had 8 days to do it. The existing carpet also had to be removed, part of which I did, so the baseboards could be painted, the rest was removed by the homeowners. Unfortunately, it turned out all the closets and much of the ceiling had multiple layers of wallpaper which had to be removed revealing additional cracks in need of repair. The substantial additional time required was not added to our contract, but it needed to be done. As for the two times when my crew and I were not at the job, all I can say is I worked 80+ hrs there that week. Maybe we were out getting lunch or dinner, or even a midnight snack because we were there a lot. I did also attend a friend's wedding one evening, though I was working straight up until I changed into my suit, and to make up for lost time I started at 4:30am the next morning. I did not take a single day off. That's probably why I was bleary eyed. My price for the job covered my costs, but I made 30% less per hour than I normally need to charge in order to pay my bills and keep my business operating. If I worked as much every week as I did for this job I would probably have keeled over by now. I have learned a lot from this experience. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 610-812-0218 or [email protected] I will be glad to send you before and after pictures of this job so you can judge for yourself."
