"On our Angie’s List profile page we have a service area map available for each member to view. During our peak season (roughly the second half of April through the end of October), our business is contained to this service area. During the off season, we have a little more flexibility with the distance that we are able to travel, however we do have a minimum charge for these jobs as our costs (fuel, employees, insurance, vehicle wear and tear, equipment, etc.) must be covered. In order to cover our costs plus the additional travel time, our prices would not be competitive compared to other contractors in closer proximity to the customer."
"Prior to my arrival, the customer simply stated that he was looking for ideas for his landscape. Once I had arrived at his property, he began by showing me the front yard. I tried to ask some questions to see what preferences he might have regarding plants, what he had in mind for a rough budget, etc. however he was unable or unwilling to provide any information. The only information that he offered was that his wife did not like the bushes on either side of the front steps and he said that if he knew what to do, he would not have called me. I was not asking for him to lay out anything in detail. I just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page so that I could put together a design/plan that would fit his preferences and lifestyle. For example, he has many healthy, yet crowded evergreens in the front mulch bed. The options for this particular area would be to significantly cut back each bush to separate them, thin out the bed by removing some of the bushes, or wipe out the bed and start over with new plants. If the customer said that he hated all of the plants, then I could certainly make a plan that included installation of new plants. If that was not a priority or within the budget, then I would not want to push for someone to do something that they do not want to do. The customer also stated that I was unwilling to take a look at the rest of his property, which is not true. As we walked around to the side yard, I was presenting him with another example of some of his options, but he promptly told me to leave. As with any customer, Linder Lawn will provide general ideas as part of a free estimate. For a detailed design or plan, there is a fee that is ultimately applied to the total cost of the project should a customer choose to have us execute the plan. When I explained this to the customer, he said that he was not looking for a detailed plan. He also said that he was expecting that we would go back and forth with ideas, however as I previously stated, he was not forthcoming with any ideas."
"It was a pleasure to provide these services! We also enjoyed the experience and are pleased to see that the groundcover has been doing well under the customer's care."
When the work began, it was done mostly by one of their employees, Damone, who was very hard-working and friendly. He had to work around another contractor doing stucco at the house at the same time and was very professional and courteous. He worked for parts of 4 days to complete the work. He was extremely polite and thoughtful, even asking me if I would like the remainder of the topsoil in pots for my garden. He put it in the pots himself and even carried them up to my garden for me.
Every job has a few snags, but Linder Lawn was very professional in how they handled these things. For example, Amanda and I had a mis-communication about the colors of perennials that they were to plant and as soon as she realized that I was not satisfied, she came out to the house again herself to talk to me about it. We developed a new plan and she was happy to buy new plants that were in the type and color that I preferred. She always communicated with me quickly and professionally and made sure I was completely satisfied with their work. When 3 of the new perennials died after a few weeks, she diagnosed the problem (the area turned out to be partial shade instead of full sun like we thought) and she replaced them at no charge.
I could not be more satisfied with the service, attitude, and professionalism of Linder Lawn and I would recommend them to anyone who is in the need of landscape service. Thanks again for all of your hard work!
"Wonderful customer to work with-very pleasant and understanding. I am glad that we were able to take a look at the plant selection together before we installed plants that were not what the customer had envisioned. She was looking for a variety of colors and I tend to choose colors in the same family when choosing plants. It was something that I should have asked before purchasing the plants and served as an important reminder for me that every detail counts. If the customer is not happy with the end result, then we as service providers have not done our job."
"I have searched through our records and have not come across this customer's name or information. Customer contact is typically handled by Amanda and she coordinates estimates as well."
