John and his crew have always done excellent work on the lawn and landscaping. I look forward to having him provide lawn service again next spring, as well as some additional landscaping.

Linder Lawn was great to work with from initial contact to the completion of the job. They were punctual, provided different options for the work, and explained the pros and cons of each option. The work was done when promised and in the time frame quoted. They performed quality work replacing a retaining wall and cleaned up well after themselves. No damage was caused to the area close to and around the worksite. This would seem to be a given but it stands out to me when contractors are dealing with older houses and their tight spaces. Linder Lawn also followed up with me afterwards to be sure that I was satisfied with the job. Overall, it was a very good experience and I hope to use them again in the future.

Linder Lawn was a pleasure to work with. They were professional, and perhaps most importantly, very responsive to any questions/ concerns I raised. They always arrived when they said they would and did great work in a timely manner. I had a small issue pop up post job and they quickly remedied the problem and checked in a few times to make sure I satisfied. It says a lot that they were as responsive after the job was paid for as they were before. I highly recommend.

We needed to have a railroad tie retaining wall replaced that was destroyed after a vehicle accident in our yard. The wall was the top wall of a series of three that dropped down from a driveway into our back yard. We had Linder Lawn come out to give us an estimate. From the estimate to the end of the job, I appreciated their professionalism and responsiveness. John and Amanda were great at answering my questions and very quick to respond to messages throughout the whole process. The crew was there when they said they would be and got to work as soon as they got there. I was impressed with their dedication not only to get the job done quickly but correctly every step of the way. We replaced all three retaining walls with a blend of bricks that really compliment our house that John suggested (I am glad I listened to him). They even leveled out our yard where we used to have a pool with some of the extra dirt. I am very happy with the results and would definitely recommend Linder Lawn & Landscape Design.

We met with both John and Amanda. When John started removing our old fence he noticed that our wood retaining wall was rotting from the inside out so we had him replace the wall with cement blocks and a french drain. He did a wonderful job on both the fence and the wall.

Linder responded quickly to my inquiry and made an appointment to visit.  Amanda was terrific and explained everything in detail about how they would do what I wanted done.   She said she would e-mail an estimate in a few days.  Once I received the estimate, which I felt was extremely reasonable, I decided not to have the work done at this time.  However, if and when I decide to continue with the project, I will contact Linder for the work.

They came out twice for the work because it was a large project. I met both of the owners. Amanda came out first for the estimate and then John came by to ensure all of our needs were being met. On the first visit, they got out the bulk of the area. Then on the second pass, I was able to put in posts where the fence would outline so that they could clear the rest of the area. They made the path very clear for the installation of a fence. I felt that they were asking a fair price for what the work was and they clearly explained everything to us. They are very responsive and easy to communicate with, especially through email. They were able to meet my time constraint as well. They were very prompt and able to complete the job shortly after they provided the estimate.  They were fantastic with everything.

It was a large job that we hired them for. It worked out just fine and they did a very nice job. Their prices are very competitive. We had a deadline where we needed the work done by for a family event and they were able to meet it. They were very nice to deal with as well were timely. I would recommend them to others.

"On our Angie’s List profile page we have a service area map available for each member to view. During our peak season (roughly the second half of April through the end of October), our business is contained to this service area. During the off season, we have a little more flexibility with the distance that we are able to travel, however we do have a minimum charge for these jobs as our costs (fuel, employees, insurance, vehicle wear and tear, equipment, etc.) must be covered. In order to cover our costs plus the additional travel time, our prices would not be competitive compared to other contractors in closer proximity to the customer."

Linder Brothers were great to work with. They responded promptly and were able to schedule a time to come out to our property in a timely fashion. Their estimate was the most reasonable one we received; unfortunately we needed to postpone our landscaping work and did not hire them for the job at this time. Would definitely recommend to others!

All went well and the staff that did the work were friendly and professional. It is difficult to find a vendor who is responsive but that is not a problem with this company.as they say "we call you back"

Amanda came out and met my husband and I so we could explain the project after first discussing over email.  She was punctual, professional, and friendly.  We explained what we were looking for and different ideas for design.  She said she would give us several quotes including and omitting different ideas since we said cost was a concern.  Our interaction with her was brief, and we had to go for another appointment while she measured.  She said she would get back to us in a week or so with the quotes since it was a busy time of the year.  I emailed a week later, and she apologized for the delay and got us our quote promptly.  We liked the designs and the materials that would be used, but the price was a bit more than we were willing to spend, so we went with another provider.

I know the design aspect is subjective, but that is why I was looking for a landscape designer.  I wanted input from the company to see what they thought was best.  When the representative from Linder showed up, she didn't understand this.  She only wanted to hear exactly what I wanted to have done.  I explained what I was expecting from them prior to her arrival.  When I told her that I was expecting them to put together a plan of action, she started to become upset and said that there would be a million different plans that could be put together so that isn't an option.  Knowing that she wasn't capable of design, I then scaled back my request to be just get an estimate for bed cleanup and weed removal.  I was asking her to walk around the yard to discuss the plants, but she wasn't willing.  She continued to press for exact details on what I wanted and her attitudinal became became confrontational.  At that point, I asked her to leave because the services they provide don't match my needs.  Perhaps this was my fault for not properly describing my needs.  I had already had a couple other companies come out to do the same thing and there wasn't a problem.
Response from Rolling Hills Landscapes, Inc.
"Prior to my arrival, the customer simply stated that he was looking for ideas for his landscape. Once I had arrived at his property, he began by showing me the front yard. I tried to ask some questions to see what preferences he might have regarding plants, what he had in mind for a rough budget, etc. however he was unable or unwilling to provide any information. The only information that he offered was that his wife did not like the bushes on either side of the front steps and he said that if he knew what to do, he would not have called me. I was not asking for him to lay out anything in detail. I just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page so that I could put together a design/plan that would fit his preferences and lifestyle. For example, he has many healthy, yet crowded evergreens in the front mulch bed. The options for this particular area would be to significantly cut back each bush to separate them, thin out the bed by removing some of the bushes, or wipe out the bed and start over with new plants. If the customer said that he hated all of the plants, then I could certainly make a plan that included installation of new plants. If that was not a priority or within the budget, then I would not want to push for someone to do something that they do not want to do. The customer also stated that I was unwilling to take a look at the rest of his property, which is not true. As we walked around to the side yard, I was presenting him with another example of some of his options, but he promptly told me to leave. As with any customer, Linder Lawn will provide general ideas as part of a free estimate. For a detailed design or plan, there is a fee that is ultimately applied to the total cost of the project should a customer choose to have us execute the plan. When I explained this to the customer, he said that he was not looking for a detailed plan. He also said that he was expecting that we would go back and forth with ideas, however as I previously stated, he was not forthcoming with any ideas."

Amanda Linder and I communicated mostly through email, which was very convenient for me and my work schedule.   She came out for an estimate and was very professional and helpful in creating a design for our new landscape beds.   She provided an estimate within a week and we decided to use their services.   She drew a diagram of where she felt the new shrubs should grow and provided a document of pictures of evergreens for me to choose from.   Since I also wanted perennials, she made some suggestions about what types of plants would look good in the area we were working with.
When the work began, it was done mostly by one of their employees, Damone, who was very hard-working and friendly.   He had to work around another contractor doing stucco at the house at the same time and was very professional and courteous.  He worked for parts of 4 days to complete the work.   He was extremely polite and thoughtful, even asking me if I would like the remainder of the topsoil in pots for my garden.   He put it in the pots himself and even carried them up to my garden for me.
Every job has a few snags, but Linder Lawn was very professional in how they handled these things.   For example, Amanda and I had a mis-communication about the colors of perennials that they were to plant and as soon as she realized that I was not satisfied, she came out to the house again herself to talk to me about it.   We developed a new plan and she was happy to buy new plants that were in the type and color that I preferred.   She always communicated with me quickly and professionally and made sure I was completely satisfied with their work.    When 3 of the new perennials died after a few weeks, she diagnosed the problem (the area turned out to be partial shade instead of full sun like we thought) and she replaced them at no charge.
I could not be more satisfied with the service, attitude, and professionalism of Linder Lawn and I would recommend them to anyone who is in the need of landscape service.    Thanks again for all of your hard work!

"Wonderful customer to work with-very pleasant and understanding. I am glad that we were able to take a look at the plant selection together before we installed plants that were not what the customer had envisioned. She was looking for a variety of colors and I tend to choose colors in the same family when choosing plants. It was something that I should have asked before purchasing the plants and served as an important reminder for me that every detail counts. If the customer is not happy with the end result, then we as service providers have not done our job."

Despite telling me he would go the next day and check the work and then get back to me, this representative neither visited the site nor supplied an estimate.  I would NEVER call this company again.
