Perry Masonry

We contacted Perry Masonry in the late fall at which time it was too late in the season. He called us at the first warm up in February and came out very soon to complete the job. Showed up when he said they would and completed the work within about 6 hours. They did not require much other than me going around the house with them to confirm what they thought needed fixed. They also needed into the basement to have access to water since our hose was not hooked up outside. They did an excellent job in filling the cracks and matching the mortar color. They also replace 2 bricks that had fallen from the vent in the attic. Very pleasant to deal with. Honest and trustworthy. I would definitely recommend them to others and have them fix future brick issues of our own. It didn't bother me, but it may bother others that they took down a hanging pot fixture and did not mention that they were going to do so. Also did not replace it, but I didn't really care. They left the area clean; however, their ladders scratched the stain on our deck. Those are not particular complaints that I have, but just want others to be awareif it would be an concern for them.

They were a pleasure to work with -- estimate was very reasonable and less than other estimates we received, and they finished the work in two (very hot!) days. The house looks great and the mortar they used matches the original darker mortar very well.

Our chimney had been leaking into our kitchen. He came out quickly to give us an estimate. He explained what he thought the problem was and how he would fix it. He gave us an estimate and told us it might be 4 or 5 weeks until he got us on the schedule. He gave us a call on a Friday and came out Monday. It took two days just like he said it would. He and his associate were polite, fast, and professional. they explained everything they were doing as they did it. They cleaned up after themselves. They were great and a few thousand less than the other estimates.

Ed is extrememly good to work with. He promptly called me after I e-mailed him through Angie's List and then he went to my house to prepare an estimate. The first time he visited, he called me and said there was too much snow on the ground, but that we would be back after the weather improved. He followed through and gave me a very detailed estimate over the phone. After I hired him, it took about a month for him to be able to perform the work. All of the pointing took him about two days and he called me at the end of each day to tell me what he found and what he did. He also came back to my house another day to show me all of the work he completed. I would highly recommend Ed - he's very responsive and does a fantastic job.

I appreciated Mr. Perry being honest with me after taking the time to check my home. There are many contractors out there who would have taken advantage of the situation. I would certainly recommend him to others.

Our house is very old and it was a particularly challenging job. The style of stone that we have in our house and the work that they needed to do was more challenging than the standard brick house. They did a beautiful job and it did fit perfectly with everything else around the house. They were prompt and they charged us a fair price. The only negative thing was that they left something on the grass and it killed some of the grass. I would use them again in future if need be.

Found Ed Perry through Angie's list. I thought it might be hard to get him here, since he is so highly rated on the list, but he was very good to call back and very easy to talk to and work with. I have two chimneys that needed to be repointed or reset and several other areas that needed attention on the house exterior. Ed came out and we walked around the property and I pointed out the problem areas. He could not do the chimneys but referred me to another person for that work. He quoted me a price for the other areas of work and it was at least half the amount of other estimates I received. He told me the work would be only about 1/2 day's work and he'd work it in when there was a job that ended early or at a time when they had 1/2 day to fill. I only had to wait about 2 weeks before he called to say he could come out the next day. (Another company would not be able to get to me for 3 months.) When he arrived, we walked around the house again, confirming what would be done, and I had a chance to point out another area that may need some repointing. Ed also pointed out a few more areas he'd take care of. They did spot pointing on areas where the mortar was missing along the side of the house and where a utility meter was removed. He repaired the cement on both sides of the porch where the porch meets the house and sealed a few areas where old brickwork had been done and along the ground where the cement was cracked. He caulked an area where brick and board were not meeting and gaps were showing. He reset a few bricks that had pushed in. He matched the mortar color nicely and all areas were left neat and clean after they left. He was very easy to talk to and I felt he listened to my concerns and addressed all repairs thoroughly and professionally.

Called Ed Perry to complete an estimate on repairs to my flagstone patio, standstone stairs and rock retaining wall. Ed said that he does not complete that type of work, but made suggestions for the type of questions to ask potential professionals who might complete the work. He sounded pleasant and professional over the phone, and I was pleased that he took the time to return my call and offered advice.

Great job. Very reasonable price, friendly and professional. Workmanship was great.

He came out to review the work that needed done and he was very thorough. They were very neat and they did an excellent job.

I called him and he's supposed to do chimney's. He told me I needed a brick layer. I thought he should be able to do that. He sent a brick layer he knew out and I couldn't understand why he couldn't do it himself.

He was responsive and informative. I appreciated his detailed assessment and referral.

The owner came and gave me an estimate. He was extremely honest. He told me that the chimney was functioning perfectly, and the fix would just be cosmpetic. He also stated he could not do the flashing but suggested 3 roofers in my area that could do the work.

He was the lowest of the estimates I received. He seemed to do good work, and so far I have had no problems.

My wife and I are purchasing our first home. My home inspector mentioned spalling bricks around the chimney and window sills in his report, so I called a few masonry contractors to find out how much this would cost to repair. Ed was the only contractor to return my call. He is prompt, very pleasant, and seems quite knowledgeable about what he does. I intend to use him for the repairs if we purchase this house. (A word of advice: if you're home inspector mentions spalling bricks, get someone to give you a rough estimate. My home inspector was off by several hundred dollars.)

He is wonderful. You cannot tell the difference in where he did the repair work. He blends in the bricks beautifully. I would recommend him to everyone.

By the time that my call was returned we found another company to do the work. I will not be using this company.

Ed took my information and came out to look at my house. I didn't even have to be home. He left me a message that he couldn't do the work because he didn't have enough manpower, but asked me to call back so he could talk to me about the details. Ed told me specifically why my job was complicated and gave me a list of questions to ask other contractors. He was extremely informative even though he wasn't going to be doing the work.

He was very timely. He called me back promptly. His price was very fair. Him and his co-worker were very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them.

Ed was very professional. He was able to fit the work into his schedule earlier than he originally anticipated. He gave us an estimate of $450 to $500 and the final price was $475. Work was done efficiently and cleanly. Very satisfied with the work done.

Ed and partner did the work in three days. They also replaced a badly damaged block on the side of the house.

Ed returned my call and showed up as he promised. Although my job was too far gone for pointing, he was able to spend time with me, give me his professional opinion and recommend someone. He was courteous, professional and although he knew he was not going to be doing the work, this did not stop him from sharing some ideas with me to save me money and time. If I have a need for pointing or chimney work in the future, I will definitely give him a call.

Not finished. Since Mr. Perry is not doing the work, this question is irrelevant for our rating.

They came in on time and did very good work. They were very clean and very pleasant to work with. There isn't anything bad I would want to say about them because the experience was very satisfactory.

I called Perry Masonry in search of an estimate. The funny thing is, I got the estimate and had the work done without ever meeting Perry in person. He called me back with the estimate, did the work while I was at work and billed me. He was professional over the phone and the whole job went off without a hitch.
