Mr. Perry's price was the lowest of three bids. He spotted several more areas of the house that needed pointing work than the other two bidders spotted or included in their bids despite their higher bid prices. Mr. Perry did all of the work he said he would plus additional pointing work that he discovered needed done while he was working on the job, all at no additional cost. The job was finished within three weeks of entering into the contract. The work was neat and complete and I verified that the mortar he used was the correct mortar for the type of bricks the house was constructed with and matched the old mortar perfectly. I have hired a number of contractors over the years and my experience with Mr. Perry was by far the most positive contractor experience I have had to date. My neighbor has a 1920's brick and mortar house identical to mine and hired Mr. Perry to brick-point her house and chimney after she saw the work he performed on my house.

It's obvious why this company gets A's. Dealing with Perry Pointing was a pleasant experience overall. My calls were returned promptly. Ed came out for an estimate while we were not home. I had hoped he would go up on the roof to inspect the one chimney that we knew needed to be capped but he did not. This was the only downside to the whole experience. The estimate was given verbally (no written estimate) but was accurate and exactly what we were charged. Ed said his guys would do the work on our house on a weekend and that he'd call when they could fit it in. He called within a week or two (he said up to four) to set it up for that weekend. The guys arrived promptly on Sunday morning (at 9, I believe, which was actually a relief - we don't like to get up too early!) and did a great job. They were very concerned that the new mortar match the rest of the house, which it does nicely. Some of it still needs to fade in the sun, but the parts that get hit by sun a lot look great. Ed stopped by to check on all the work and to explain the situation with the chimney. It cannot be capped in the way he usually does because of a variety of reasons - flue liner isn't long enough, the top few rows of brick are not structurally sound, etc. He referred us to another company for this work. Therefore, if you suspect you need more advanced chimney work, you may want to find another company. But for a normal cap, Perry Pointing would be fine. Everyone who I talked to, or who did work on our house, was friendly and personable. Questions were answered thoroughly, time was taken to explain the work (and the work that could not be done) in detail, and we were given a tour of the repairs at the end of the day. Great company - I definitely recommend them!

I highly recommend Ed Perry. He repaired and repointed my chimmeys earlier this year and I was impressed with the work he did at that time. I asked him for an estimate of repointing my house to be done later. I called him when I decided to have the work done. He was honest on a starting date as this has been a very hot summer and his work has been effected by the weather. I wasn't in a hurry and told him to call me when he could do the job. He was back to me in less than 3 weeks and began the job on Tuesday, August 14th. The job took 3 days to complete and my home looks like it was just built. He works with two other men and they worked very efficently. There is a lot of dust involved because they have to grind out the old morter before they can replace it. Each night before they left the area they worked on was clean and dust free. They were here for three days straight and I could have set my clock by their arrival.I would recommend Ed Perry to anyone that needs to have masonry work done. This is a reliable company to work.

He was prompt in returning my call regarding my needing service. Called back two times when I didn't (wow! don't see that happen much!). He performed the work above my expectations and left the work area clean.
Description of Work: I had numerous areas that required maintenance to the brick on our home. There were cracks and holes made to the masonry and mortar that required fixing. The work performed was done while I was away (with my permission) and I returned to find that each area we discussed that needed repair was fixed very nicely. You can hardly tell that there are any cracks to the brick as he filled them in and used a matching paint/color of the brick so that it is hardly noticeable that any work was done. Highly recommend his services.

Ed came and gave an estimate in late May, 20012, which was a fair price. He went over the whole exterior of my home and stated what the needed work was in addition to what I had on my paper. Ed called ahead prior to his start day and finished in one day. The work is beautiful and the clean up was very neat. I would recommend others to use Ed, although I do believe that a written contract prior to the agreed upon price/job would be helpful to clients. He stated that he would provide me with this after the job completion. The price remained what was in the initial verbal quote in May.

I called several people from the list of names on Angie's list. Ed Perry was the second contractor that returned my call the same day. I explained the problem and he came out within two days to give me an estimate. I had thought only one of my chimneys needed attention but Ed Perry said that both chimneys needed repointing. His estimate for both chimneys as well as repairing the chimney caps very reasonable. I waited until I had the other estimate which only covered one of the chimneys and was substantially more than Ed's. When I called Ed back to give him the job and explained that I would like to have the work done as soon as possible because I was having an appraisal done on my house within the a few weeks he scheduled the work to be done within two days. The only thing he said that would delay the work was the weather. He called me the night before as a reminded that he would be there the next morning at 9:00 A.M. Not only was his team here on time they completed the work within 5 hours. He explained exactly what had been done and I was able to see the difference, even from the street. He and his workers cleanned up completely, even to washing down the sidewalk beside my house. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will use his services again.

They weren't very impressed because it wasn't the typical size of the job that they do. He asked where I got his name and we said Angie's List, so he became worried and told me that they could do a small job too. Then he tried to convince me that I really didn't need to get anything done. He also tried to show me some type of product, but we called someone else who ended up doing the work just fine.

Ed said he would come and assess the job. He came on a timely basis and was very quick with his estimate and proposal. He indicated when he thought he could perform the work. He called when he had a cancellation and came to do the job. He also indicated due to rain it would be delayed so I was aware of the postponement. He came the next day and did a great job. The bid was competitive with other quotes.

Overall a very positive experience. We would recommend Perry's to anyone.
Description of Work: We originally thought the house needed pointing. We had three other estimates on the house, one more than tripled the amount Perry's quoted us. They said we needed extensive work done. Perry's came out and said minimal work needed done to the mortar and bricks and gave us a reasonable quote on the cleaning of the brick. The guys came and worked for two days. They did an excellent job and were very pleasant as well as professional.

Perry did a quick and straightforward job repointing the house. He arrived on time, got to work, and did a fantastic job patching up the pointing on the house. He spotted several problem areas that had not been caught previously, and repaired them. The house looks great now, and we feel much better regarding the insulation and weather proofing of the house.
Description of Work: Repointing the house to fill in all the significant gaps in the masonry of the house. The bricks under the windows were completely repointed into place, and significant gaps in the masonry outside the basement, first, and second floor.

I called two places at first. One guy never showed up for the estimate. The second gave me a ridiculous quote for what I thought was a small job. The next week I called two more companies based on angies list reviews. First guy couldn't make it out until the end of the week. Then I called Ed. Ed called me back right away and said he was in the neighborhood and could stop by the next day to give me an estimate. He called back as promised with the estimate. Very reasonable and about what I would expect. It was also one quarter of my first quote. He told me he could probably do it at the end of week because he was close. If not he said not until spring. He called me everyday to let me know the status. He canceled Thursday because it was supposed to rain and said Friday for sure. They showed up Friday right on time and in two hours they were done. Very professional, friendly and efficient. The finished job looks great. Blends right in. They also took the left over mortar and patched a few things. Ed seemed very down to earth. It felt like he was doing me a favor as opposed to a job. I was afraid because it was such a small task that it would be hard to find someone willing to come out for a small paycheck. I felt confident I was not be taken advantage of. Price and quality top notch. Hire this guy.

Ed Perry was responsive and returned my phone calls when two or three other brick contractors did not. He was honest about cost and tediousness of the job from the get go and was very good about explaining the process before and during the job. Even though one or two of his workers were smokers I didn't find one cigarette butt left on my property. Everyone on his team was polite and friendly. I hope to hire him again in the future for some re-pointing and other mortar touch-ups.
Description of Work: Ed Perry and his workers washed the brick exterior of our two-story house (with walk-out basement making it three-story in the back.)They did one wall a day and were very thorough with their work. They were good about masking the windows with plastic and also wrapping up our retractable awning and the bit of roof between our second and third stories. Our house looks much brighter/cleaner than it did and I was pleasantly suprised by the difference. -

I contacted Ed Perry back in Mid-May and told him that I needed chimney work as mortar was deteriorating on the chimneys of this 96-year old house. Ed came to the house within a couple of days and observed the 2 chimneys. He stated that the original bricks were covered by veneer which had deteriorated. I asked him what the most economical way of correcting the problem was and he advised that he could cement stucco them. I told him that my next door neighbors had done that and I liked the result. He quoted me a price of $850, but advised that he had a heavy workload and that it would be some time before he could get to me. I told him that I was in no hurry so that was not a problem. He contacted me about two weeks ago to let me know that my job would be coming up. He called two nights ago and asked if today would work and I gave him the ok. He called again last night and advised that they would be here at 9AM which is approximately the time they showed up. They began work immediately and finished the work by mid-afternoon including the installation of new rain caps. Appropriate clean-up was done. The chimneys look good. Ed was cordial throughout as was his crew and I found him very easy to work with. I would recommend him and would utilize his services again.

After having foundation piering done earlier this year to stabilize the house foundation, i began to look for a Masonry service to repair related cracks in the mortar around the house. Had called several companies, and they were not very responsive. Called Ed at Perry Masonry on 7/27/11 and he called back promptly, asked a lot of questions about the house and explained in detail the type of work he could do. He came out the next day to evaluate the house, even notified me of some areas that needed repair that i was not aware of, and gave me a very reasonable estimate. Due to previously scheduled work, Ed estimated that it would be 5 -6 weeks before he could do this work and estimated that it would take 1 day.. On August 7th he called to notify me that he could come the next day due to a cancellation. I was not available to be home that day, but Ed assured me that was not a problem. They completed all of the work as planned within the single day, including repairing cracks in mortar all around the house and repointing and recapping my chimney. They fixed areas i hadn't even seen due to shrubbery hiding the cracks. They also removed 2 hornets nests they found near a window and the chimney. They cleaned up very well, were very professional - even ensuring that they closed all fence gates around the yard as i have dogs and had requested that they be careful of gates. After the work was complete, Ed called me to ensure that i was happy with the work, and explained all that they had done. They did an excellent job, and this was one of the easiest contractor experiences i've ever had! Ed did all of the work and there was no inconvenience or issues that i needed to be concerned about. I will certainly hire them again if needed and will highly recommend Ed to all friends and family,
