Perry Masonry

I called Ed Perry for possible chimney pointing. He stopped by next day as promised. He explained that my brick, installed in early 50's, was deteriorating because it was manufactured with 6 to 8 holes inside. The holes fill up with water if the chimney cap is damaged, freeze in the winter, then pop/split from the expanding ice. If he were to point the bricks, nothing but appearances would be improved. When winter comes the cycle would continue... What I need, Ed explained, is to have the chimney dismantled to the roof line and rebuilt. This is not his specialty, but he knows reputable bricklayers who can do a good job. I will pursue this in the spring. This man spent almost 45 minutes of his time with me, explaining options, recommending improvements to other areas of my house and giving me the benefit of his 35 plus years in the contracting business. I offered to pay him for his time and he declined. Based on what I experienced, I recommend Perry Masonry to you.

Ed was timely in his appointment and estimate. He was upfront about when he could do the work (4-5 weeks) and I wasn't in any immediate hurry. He basically fit my job in when he had an opening between jobs. I was fine with this. He gave me a couple of days notice that he'd be coming. He arrived and completed the job in a satisfactory manner.

I asked for an estimate to repair some stone around the front door of my house. Ed came out to look at it -- I didn't even have to be home. He called me on my cell right away to let me know he couldn't help me. But he also told me what kind of company I should contact. He was really friendly and professional on the phone and I'd call him again if I needed masonry work done.

Ed was the easiest to get in touch with because he had an answering service. He called me back promptly and gave me an estimate. He was able to arrange the to have the work done within two weeks although we were not in a hurry. He was here for a total of 8 days and worked very efficiently. He cleaned up each day and did an excellent job of controlling the dust. He was truly a craftsman and took obvious pride in his work!

I called Ed and he returned my call within 48 hours. He made arrangements and met with me to give me an estimate. He was prompt and very helpful in giving me suggestions on achieving the desired results on both projects. He was very knowledgeable. We agreed that he would do both projects. He informed me that it would be 4-5 weeks before he could schedule my work which I agreed to. He was able to get me in before that with both projects. I am very happy with the workmanship and professionalism that he and his co-worker provided.

Ed Perry came out within a week to give an estimate. It took several weeks for him to return to do the work, but he told us that would be the case. Once he returned, he and another man did all the work in three days. They did an excellent job on the brick replacement/repointing, and painted over the new bricks and mortar at no extra charge. They also parged the lower two rows of our sandstone block foundation that was crumbling. They did a good job matching the color of the blocks above (which I did not want parged to retain the character), so that the parging is inconspicuous. The price ended up being higher than estimated because of additional areas they found that needed repointing. They did not leave until the work was completed and did a great job cleaning up. Ed was a real pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend him.

Although I didn't have a chance to meet Mr. Perry, I did speak with him several times on the phone. He was always polite and professional and kept me posted as to when he would be able to do the job (spring is a busy time). He repointed my chimney, resolving the water problem (so far so good) and it looks good too. He even appeased my neighbors with their bizarre request for him to let them know he working on my house! The area was spotless afterward, the only evidence that he was there was his work on the chimney. My only regret is that I didn't get to actually meet him.

Ed is professional. He's straightforward, prompt and he and his employee do excellent work. I was pleased enough with his first job that I called him back to do my interior basement work.

Ed was very responsive and timely with his estimate. The project began on the day promised. His associate was friendly and professional. Ed was very willing to explain the work in progress. He kept me well informed during the entire process. I am a stickler for the details so anything I felt needed addressed Ed made right immediately...although there was very little to be critical of. I am extremely pleased with the work performed. Ed wouldn't take payment until the work was reviewed and to my satisfaction. Excellent work ethic.

Chimneys were repaired per agreement. Cleaning to be done in 6 months after cement cured. The repair took 1 day with two men working. I felt the work was done very well and look forward to the final cleaning and flue covering.

Mr. Perry was very responsive and professional. He even came to look at my house on a Sunday afternoon. He determined that I only needed spot pointing and some chimney repair which saved me a considerable amount of money! The work performed looks great and they kept the job site very clean. Mr. Perry actually called me in the evening to give me a progress report since he knew that I worked during the day when this work was being done. I would not hesitate to recommend Perry Masonry. Ed and Rick are the best!

We lucked out to get them within the week we contacted them and Ed's right-hand man did all the work in two days, matching the mortar extremely well. He was very pleasant and courteous, and cleaned up well. We had three quotes for the same work, the other two were more than twice what we paid and I was very pleased. They deserve the excellent rating they have on the list.

Estimate was prompt and competitive. It took a really really long time to get a return phone call to book the work, but summer is the busy season for this type of outdoor work, so it's kind of understandable, if annoying. Once we had a date, Ed and a helper performed the work efficiently and with care. They cleaned up afterwards and even cleaned and reinstalled a gutter that was causing one of the masonry problems. Very considerate on site.

Ed Perry and his assistant were prompt, professional and extremely courteous. They did a top-notch job on the re-pointing and were able to match our existing mortar color almost exactly. They were very clean and thorough, and even went out of their way to patch up a few other problem areas on our brickwork. I am very, very pleased with their work and service and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend to anyone.

Ed was extremely professional and straightforward. His estimate was one of several, and the most expensive of them all. However, it was very clear from meeting him, that he was extremely experienced, dedicated, and still actually interested in what he did for a living and was proud of his craft. Several of the other names from this site approached the estimate and job with barely a hint of interest. Ed and his crew were timely, clean, polite, and went above and beyond the job. Well worth his price, which I have to grade as excellent, since you get every cent worth.

Very professional & honest, & seemed to care about the work. He was clean & on time. He had strong opinions on repointing our chimney which apparently need more extensive work, so he did not take on aspects of that job.

The chimney repair required a lot of attention. The existing crown was completely deteriorated. The chimney was being held together by the steel bands that held the old antenna. The work looks great. They did an outstanding job of matching the varying colors of the existing mortar. They were thorough, neat and polite. I think that the price is quite reasonable considering the amount of work done

Ed was unable to do the work right away but kept me informed. When he scheduled the work, he came on the appointed day. He was very courteous and conscientious, and I recommend him highly.

ED PERRY WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO FIT US IN HIS SCHEDULE. HE AND HIS TEAM WERE PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL.

I APPRECIATED ED'S HONESTY. HE CAME OVER TO LOOK AT OUR CHIMNEY (WHICH SEEMS TO BE CAUSING A WATER PROBLEM IN THE HOUSE), BUT HE SAID HE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE SAID HE COULD CERTAINLY TRY A FEW THINGS, BUT BECAUSE HE WOULD BE PROCEEDING ON A TRIAL AND ERROR BASIS AND COULD MAKE NO GUARANTEES THAT HE COULD ACTUALLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM, HE THOUGHT IT BEST TO PASS ON THE WORK. HE RECOMMENDED THAT I CALL SOMEONE ELSE, GAVE ME A NAME AND NUMBER, AND WISHED ME LUCK!

IT TOOK QUITE A WHILE TO SCHEDULE THEM TO COME, BUT ONCE SCHEDULED THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND DID A GOOD JOB.

VERY GOOD. ED WAS REALLY NICE. HE CAME OVER TO DO THE ESTIMATE, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE SIMILAR IN PRICE TO ANOTHER COMPANY (AND LESS COSTLY THAN A QUOTE FROM A THIRD COMPANY), SO I FELT THAT HE WAS BEING STRAIGHT WITH ME. I THOUGHT THE WORK PERFORMED WAS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, AND THAT ED AND HIS CREW WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND FIXING UP PROBLEMS NOT ONLY THE HOUSE AND FOUNDATION, BUT SOME OF THE SIDEWALK AROUND THE FOUNDATION. THEY WERE NEAT AND CLEAN, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. IN REGARDS TO THE GARAGE, HE MATCHED THE COLOR OF THE STONE PERFECTLY. YOU CANNOT TELL WHERE HE REPAIRED THE UGLY CEMENT JOB.

MR. PERRY RETURNED OUR CALL WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME AND CAME OUT TO INSPECT OUR CHIMNEY AS SOON AS HE HAD TIME. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND AND FRANK ABOUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND WHEN HE COULD DO IT.
