I was lucky to be able to catch Mike and his team when they had a delay in another project. This meant that they could get to work on my job (which took just over 3 days) right away and this was critical for my timeline. Mike and his crew arrived on-site before I did, and were completely professional the entire time I was around. The quality of their workmanship was excellent. I suspect it would have taken something like thrice as long for me to do a job half as nice as they did. While I do like to do as much of my own work as I can, drywalling and taping is a skill that takes practice and makes a huge difference in the quality of the final product. I was happy to find someone who did such a high quality job. Lastly, they cleaned up after themselves very well. When I came in to settle up, one of Mike's crew was even wiping down my 6' ladder!

Everything went well from initial contact to the finished job.

After contacting McClelland Home Maintenance through Angie's List, a representative from the provider came to my home to do an estimate for a kitchen backsplash in late April. After reviewing the work to be performed, I was promised an estimate the following week. One month later, I still haven't heard back from them. This was a complete waste of my time. On a positive note, on the phone and in person, the people I spoke to were professional. It's unfortunate that they did not follow through with their commitment.

We were definitely pleased with the job McClelland's Home Maintenance did for us. They arrived promptly every morning at 8am (the job took 3 days) and worked until 3pm. They worked quietly and quickly and completed the work in a very timely manner. When they were ready to lay the ceramic tile John (one of the crew members) laid the tile out in a few different patterns so I could see the options. They also took care of a few extra things that were not in our original agreement. We felt that their price was fair and also appreciated that they were able to fit us in to their full schedule. I would definitely recommend Mike and his crew.

Terrific. Considering the time of year (winter), it went great. Mike and his team were punctual and courteous. Mike did a great job coordinating his subs and took immediate action when things did not go as planned. Moreover, he worked closely with us and our designer, ensuring a smooth remodeling process. Very fair quote that he delivered on at the end. Would use him again.

Mike McClelland was very prompt in responding to my request for a quote for the job. I received three quotes and chose Mike because of the good reviews he received on Angie's List and his fair price quote. I was not disappointed!! The project was completed very timely and he and his crew were always prompt, courteous and professional. Communication was good throughout the job and we always discussed issues as they arouse... there were no surprises along the way. After the project was complete and we had already paid in full we noticed a few issues that needed addressing with the doors. I called Mike and he came back out to fix the problems with no hassle or additional charge. We are very pleased with the work done and would recommend McClelland Home Maintenance to anyone with a project big or small!!

Great! The flooring installed in the attic is a heavy composite board and the flooring feels very sturdy and was neatly done. Mike even installed a bit more flooring which is greatly appreciated. We gave him a pretty small opening to get up into the attic and we do not have attic steps into that opening. No complaints came from him or his crew about this and I am sure it made things a bit tougher. They cleaned up nicely, were on time, and were done quickly!

They did an excellent job including cleaning up the work area after the installation.

We had a pipe burst in our kitchen, which resulted in the removal of our kitchen floor, garage insulation, and garage ceiling. (The garage is directly below the kitchen.) Since this was covered by our homeowner's insurance, we initially worked with a restoration company the insurers had recommended. After this other company completed demolition of our kitchen and garage, they were MIA when we repeatedly asked for them to come back and do the repairs. Taking matters into our own hands, we contacted McClelland Home Maintenance. Best... decision... ever. It was a Monday that I called them to request an estimate. They came to our house on Wednesday to review the areas where we needed repair. Wednesday night I had an estimate in my inbox. We approved the estimate Thursday, and they were at our house ready to go first thing on the following Monday. Repairs took 3 1/2 consecutive days, and every morning, they were at our front door promptly at 7:55am prepared to get to work. The whole crew was extremely professional, courteous, surprisingly quiet, and always consulted me on the few times complications arose. Each day before they left (again, promptly at 3:00pm) they'd review with me what all was completed that day and what was on the agenda tomorrow. The quality of the work was also stellar. The garage ceiling is now flawless, the new baseboards made a world of difference, and the kitchen floor turned out even better than we expected. (See the attached pictures of our kitchen floor after the demo and prior to the repair, and the new floor that was installed.) Overall, we're extremely pleased with the work they did, and definitely would recommend them to friends. And once we save up some money for new baseboards in the rest of the house, they'll be getting another call from us. ;)

Mike and his crew are amazing. They had performed a bathroom ceiling repair - fan/light install for me last year which went very smoothly and I had a list of new projects that was building up. Mike gave me quotes for each item, worked through alternatives and completed work in a cost-effective and timely fashion, without using poor weather as an excuse. Mike is by far the best contractor I have ever worked with and will always be my first call in the future.

The workers were all very polite/courteous and went about their work quietly and efficiently.

Mike and his team were very professional, showed up on time and cleaned up well. They did a great job. I did have to call Mike back to come fix a few things, but he responded right away and came quickly. I would definitely recommend him.

In the past, we've used McClelland Home Maintenance for yearly gutter cleaning, foundation repair, updates, porch repair and replacement, and a lot of expert advice. For the most recent visit, Mike showed us things he found wrong with a house we were thinking about buying. It's a very old home, in poor condition, and he was invaluable in giving us a very realistic idea of what it would cost to get it all up to code. We went by the home inspection results and then Mike helped us figure out which repairs were critical and which could be done eventually. He saved us from getting in over our head and spending more than we'd be comfortable doing. He never uses any high-pressure sales tactics. Mike and his workers are honest, reliable, knowledgeable and polite. In the past, I used to contact many different contractors to get multiple bids on projects, but Mike has won out so many times that I know he's going to do the best job and at a cost that is more than fair. I'll definitely use them again in the future, and I highly recommend Mike to others.

Mike's staff responded to my phone message the same day and we had a scheduled appointment in a timely fashion. Mike and his team showed up on time and were very professional. All the work was completed within 2 hours and was done to our complete satisfaction. We would definitely hire Mike and his team again.

I contacted McCelland Home Maintenance because of it's A rating on Angie's list and I'm glad I did. Mike and crew did a great job installing all 4 doors. The guys are polite and respectful of my property. They arrived on time and worked all day in the cold until the job was completed. They insulated around the frame. The doors are tight and no cold air is leaking in. Family, friends and neighbors have all commented on how great the new doors look. I would definitely hire again. In fact I'm making a list of other home improvements and will be calling for a estimate.

The scope of work was understood, however, the finished project was clearly unacceptable.The counter depth is 1/2" off on one end. So incredibly upsetting, spending my hard earned money on a contractor who had an 'A' rating from Angie's List.

Mike came over to the house and looked over the job so he could give me an estimate. Once I received the estimate via email, I booked Mike for Friday September 27th. Mike and crew showed up on time and started to work. Tarps were put down on the floor and they taped/plastic off the rooms to try and keep the drywall dust down. Once they were done everything was cleaned up and they moved my furniture back for me. I would definitely use Mike again for any other problems I have at the house and would recommend him. Trish

The job was the removal of a large spa tub to be replaced with a standard-size tub set into a deck accessed by a raised platform floor. I was impressed when Mike came, took precise (to 1/8?) measurements, discussed with me how the trim would be done, where an access panel for the tub could be placed, and even some ideas for a (future) remodel of the shower. I showed him the tiles I was salvaging from the original tub surround, and we discussed how the tiles, though bullnosed, could be repurposed for the new floor. He said he wasn?t comfortable doing the plumbing himself, but worked with a plumber with whom he put me in touch. He gave me a bid for the job which I thought included removing the spa, setting the new tub and the plumbing work. Shortly after I accepted Mike?s bid he informed me that I needed to go to Angie?s list to find a plumber myself, one that was willing to remove and set the tub. This added 3 more weeks onto the project and doubled its cost. Once I had chosen a plumber, I gave them Mike?s contact information and gave Mike their?s with the hope that they would coordinate their efforts. The plumbers removed the tub and I did the demo work removing the spa framing. Mike came back the following day to build the new deck, reusing the materials from the old deck, which took less than a morning. The next day when the plumbers returned to install the tub, they noticed that the deck was not level and they could not continue. Mike could not be reached. Mike came the next day, apologized, and levelled the deck. The plumbers returned the following day and set the tub. They then realised that the deck was too thick where the fixtures needed to go. Again, they could not continue their work. Mike returned the following day to thin out the deck. He proceeded to tile the tub surround and deck, even though there was no front wall to the deck, which had to be left open for the plumbers. After all was done and I had some time to look at the finished product I was dismayed. The floor tiles did not match up with the original floor; the grout lines were thicker and uneven. He also put in chipped tiles even though there were extra tiles. Nothing could be done about this now. However, the drywall on the deck front was markedly bowed and did not meet flush with the top of the deck where the tile had been left overhanging. The gaps had been filled with caulk, but were very noticible especially when painted. I had Mike come back and fix it, but it was still not as nice as I would have liked. I expected a crisp corner, but this was not possible because the tiling had been done beforehand. All in all I was not happy with the experience and am less than fully satisfied with the outcome. The drywall work is on the enclosure wall is very nice. However, I?m still scraping caulk from the tiles, and trying not to notice the uneven grout lines in the floor tile. No trim work was done and the trim that Mike had replaced had to be redone (by me) because it did not match up and was, again, patched with gobs of caulk. There was no access panel put in for the plumbing. I did not have Mike do the work on the vanity tops, and he removed the itemized cost from the contract. However, it cost me over $100 more to have the plumbers make an extra trip. I hesitated to write this review for over a month because Mike and his crew were very nice gentlemen. Mike had hurt his back just before the work started, so maybe he was off his game. I think they tried to rush the tail end of the job to make up for lost time, and didn?t pay as much attention to doing quality work as I was led to believe they were capable of from previous reviews and Mike?s initial visit. Better communication between Mike and the plumbers may have averted the delays and extra costs.

I would recommend him to everyone.

Although primarily billed as a handyman/home maintenance company, Mike and his crew very capably handled our large-scale home renovation project. When I left a message to request an estimate, Mike's assistant promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment. Mike spent an entire hour understanding the scope of our project and taking detailed measurements and notes to properly estimate the job. We received a detailed written quote within a week, which included itemization of material and labor costs/scope for each of our projects, and were able to realize some savings by scheduling the basement and bedroom projects simultaneously, per Mike's suggestion. Mike arranged his schedule to accommodate our job (as it required 6 days to complete), and was communicative in confirming the schedule and job requirements in the days leading up to the work. Throughout the job, Mike was very responsive to our questions/requests, working with us to get our insulation strategy (e.g., R value, moisture control) and the placement of recessed lights, switches, etc., just right. He and his crew conducted themselves politely and professionally. We were able to trust them in our home while we were away for work, and they left the site clean each night. All work was of high quality. In particular, the drywall was finished so smoothly that we are able to use one of the basement walls as the projection screen for our home theater without seeing any blemishes. Mike even went out of his way to repair a siding issue for us at no additional charge when we asked him about it. Overall, we are very satisfied with the results and would definitely hire McClelland Home Maintenance again for our home improvement projects - large or small.

Mike and his help John and Sean did everything on the list of items that needed fixed and had it done in approximately 3-3.5 hours. They were very professional and knowledgeable, very impressed with how efficiently they worked to get everything complete.

They did a very good job overall. We had a bit of a rocky start as the carpenter initially framed the closet his way and not according to my design. Mr. Mike McCelland was very cooperative and we got the project back on track. The room was a challenge because the two outside walls were crooked, not all of the framing stubs were flush or spaced evenly apart. They managed to overcome the issues, and the end result is excellent. Mr. McClelland also patched a hole in the wall of a hallway and did not charge me extra. I knew it was not part of the original contract and did tell him to add it on. My only complaints are 1) I would have preferred they asked me more often how I wanted things done and 2) they weren't in such a hurry. I understand speed is essential for contractors to make money, but (I feel) Mr. McClelland scheduled himself too tight and was too rushed to get to the next job. They needed a fourth day to complete my job and were not happy about it. (Which I understand - he based his estimate on labor for 3 days and materials. I just didn't like the rushing.) Back to my first complaint, the room was MY project. It took me 2 summers to gut it and prepare it for drywall. Since building a closet with bi-fold doors and installing drywall is beyond my skill level, I had to hire a contractor. I've re-done a few things and wish I could have made some different choices on others, but in the end it will work. Mr. McClelland is an excellent drywall finisher. My walls are very smooth. All of the carpenter work was done with precision. So overall they ARE a good choice.

Mike is a great handyman, very helpful and responsive. He is a skilled professional and was flexible with what we needed. Mike took care of everything we wanted done promptly with no issues. We were very happy with Mike's work and would easily hire him again. Of all the quotes I received for this work Mike's was the most reasonable. Great work for a great price.

Excellent quality work and very professional group. They fixed a broken door frame and tiled my powder room floor. They also took care of all the demo and cleaning up afterward. They showed up on time when scheduled and I was given a detailed estimate before the job began. I would absolutely use these guys again for other repairs/improvements to my home. Highly recommended!
