Matt Mertz Plumbing Trenchless Sewer Repair Expert

One of Matt's guys came to repair our overflow drain in the bathtub (the screws that hold the cover plate on had completely corroded and fell out). He was prompt and professional and I mentioned the toilet in the same bathroom was running occasionally and he offered to replace the hardware in the tank. He got both jobs done quickly and efficiently, and he offered to go to Lowe's to get a cover panel to patch up the hole (I declined, but appreciate the offer to patch it up).

I called Matt for work needed around my mom's house in October. One of his employees completed the job. He was very knowledgable, professional and on time. He did a great job and fixed the problems that two other plummers failed to do. He cleaned up after himself. My mom was so happy with his work that I called them back again for a water leakage in my house on a Friday in December. The lady that always answers the phone calls is very sweet and pleasent. She told me what to so to keep the water in contral until one of Matt's employees arrive. He came in the afternoon and once again did a nice job. We are going to use them this summer for more plumming projects.

I called Matt on Friday concerned that our pressure regulator was failing because our water heater was letting water out of the pressure relief valve, and Matt was able to come the next day (Saturday) to fix it. Once here he quickly diagnosed the issue as a failed expansion tank but monitored the regulator the whole time to make sure it was working properly. He cleaned up the water that was released from the tank and was done quickly. I also asked him about adding a tankless water heater for one bathroom in the house (we have a baby and need the hot water turned lower, but want steaming hot water for our master bathroom), and he recommended some other ideas which could save us a lot of money depending on what we are comfortable with. We will definitely be calling Matt for any of our future plumbing needs.

I called Matt as a second opinion on the condition of our downspout drain. The first person that inspected our drain recommended the entire drain be replaced because of separated pipes. Matt made sure I was able to see the video of the camera and explained everything. We could see the glue on the pipe joints and they looked great. Matt saved us thousands of dollars.

Matt came out on a weekend to assess the problems we were having and to contacted us later to give us an estimate. It was reassuring to have a professional look at our issues and answer our questions as we just moved into a new home. His guys arrived right on time and got straight to work. The work went well and the contracted job completed. The guys took all the debris away and cleaned up the area where the new tank was installed. The job went smooth and I couldn't not have asked for a more professional encounter.

On moving day, our shut off valve broke. We called 3 plumbers. All no answer, no return phone call. Matt Mertz Plumbing called right back, was there within 3 hours, The price was more than reasonable. The service was excellent. They responded to our call without knowing the nature of our dilemma. When my wife noticed water dripping from the top of our front hall closet, we thought it could end up being a big problem. We called Matt Mertz Plumbing since we dealt with him last year on a seperate isuue. The whole experience wensmoothly from start to finish. They responded in a timely fashion, and were very professional when they arrived. They found the problem quickly and had it repaired, all in a couple of hours, and this included going into the drywall in two locations. Unfortunately they are plumbers only, but they did give me a reference to get the drywall repaired. I would definitely refer them to anyone looking for a good plumber

I had my main drain clog and backup in the garage on Sunday morning. Matt and Chris came out a couple hours after I called and cleaned and inspected the drain. The price was good and they didn't charge any additional fee for working on Sunday because the sewage was backing into the garage. Excellent job.

We had the kitchen and bathroom remodeled in 2009, and the general contractor did not install the plumbing properly. We had issues with the bathtub and sink draining properly. The stack also has preexisting issues when we bought the house that were not caught in the inspection. They did a great job and their bid was the best price. They showed up early in the day and were finished before lunch time. They also recommended a great general contractor to repair the holes in the plaster walls. Will definitely use again in the future.

From beginning to end, working with Matt Mertz Plumbing was GREAT! Their initial response was timely, cost was appropriate, and their demeanor was friendly and professional. The installation of the waterline actually ended up costing less than the original estimate because once they came to do the work, it just didn't take as long as they thought. So instead of being dishonest and charging the original estimate, they only charged for the amount of time it took them to complete the job. I also liked that they were more than willing to explain what was done and how it was done. They cleaned up after themselves before leaving, and I will DEFINITELY recommend their services to others!

When I first called I spoke with a person and not a message. All details about the job and my phone number and address were also taken and I could tell the person on the other end of the phone was sincere about writing everything down to relay to Matt Mertz. I received a call back from Matt within the hour and we discussed at length what was the best solution and that they could deliver another water heater and install it the very next day. One plumber arrived in a large truck and installed the heater and expansion tank and hauled the old one away and left the area clean.

Excellent experience. They installed a new water line and pot filler above my stove. The did a great job with neatly drilling into my kitchen cabinets and mounting the faucet. They were able to patch the drywall as well. They wouldn't leave until I was satisfied with the job and the clean up. Very happy.

Matt and his team arrived on time and got right to work. They approached the task from both outside at the well head and inside the basement where the water line came through. They were able to pull the last section of old line out and did not have to excavate under the porch slab. Then they were able to pull the new line through and did not have to disturb or replace the power line to the pump. A great relief. It was a muddy mess, as all excavations are, but Matt and his team graded and cleaned up nicely

1. I was skeptical about the ability to replace the flexible/copper combination with just copper. Their was a lot of hard water corrosion at all the joints. The tech explained what he hope to be able to do, but also warned that the corrosion could present problems in removing the old hose. -- About 15 minutes later, he was done and the result was, Beautiful. Just Beautiful work, flawless and no leaks. ($125) 2. This drain was a lot harder to clear than one might think. I had tried Drano and Enzymes and PowerPlumber (2 cans!) and neither had any impact. These guys worked hard and made headway and it looked like it was clear but the clog ended up moving down pipe. They went into through the bathtub and cleared it from there. The point here is that they made sure the clog was really clear, didn't just accept that they cleared a large area of pipe. They really earned their pay. Outstanding and Thorough. ($125)

Not well as above. Overcharged for nothing. **UPDATE** Lisa was helpful and professional and I would consider hiring this company for plumbing work because they have a good reputation and went out of their way to find out what the problem was and resolve it. Thank you.

Excellent work, excellent people! Matt came out to give the estimate and then sent his crew to do the work. The estimate came in on target - not one additional dollar was charged! The crew made sure to protect the hardwood floors and cleaned up every speck of debris from the job. On the same day, we had scheduled work to be done at my daughter's house and everything went perfectly there also. We will both continue to use Matt Mertz plumbing. Great company!

I found Matt on Angie's List and called with one problem I needed him to address -- old leaking faucet in laundry tub. Matt asked me to take a picture of it and email it to him so he knew what to expect. He called me back in a day or two - as he said he would - and explained that he found a faucet that might work, but that the one I had was so old the replacement wouldn't be the same as the existing one. He asked me a few questions as to how the faucet was mounted. After just a few minutes on the phone, he realized that he could make it work. We scheduled a time the following week for him to come and do the job. (It was the following week because of my schedule, not his -- he was very accommodating.) Over the next couple of days, I began to find more things that I wanted him to address while he was here. Each time, I would simply email him -- in some cases I included a picture -- and each time i emailed him with an add-on, I got an email back from his office indicating that the additional work would not be a problem at all. On the appointed day, Hunter, one of the plumbers, called me about 10 minutes into the 2 hour window that they give for the appointment, and told me that he was on his way. When Hunter arrived, he had with him a list of all the items that I wanted to be addressed. We went around the house to show him where everything was and within minutes he was hard at work. (It's worth noting here that it was raining outside the day that Hunter came. We have brand new light colored carpet going up the steps and in the upstairs hallway leading to the bathroom. My wife would have killed me had the carpet gotten dirty. Hunter had boot covers that he put on every time he came in the front door so as not to track any mud into the house. Thanks, Hunter!) All of the items were taken care of without a hitch. Matt, Hunter and the person who responded to my emails (sorry... I don't remember her name) were all very professional and very nice. I knew exactly what to expect thanks to Matt, and everything was performed to high standards. Hunter was very nice -- even putting up with my 1 year old watching him work. When he was done, everything was cleaned up and all looked great. You'd never know anyone was there working.

It went very well and water tastes great and knowing that we don't need bottled water anymore and clean water for all including the dogs is great.

Called Matt this morning with a leak from an upstairs bathroom. Tech came before the promised time and identified and fixed the problem (bad toilet seal) quickly. Very good about not tracking in dirt or leaving a mess behind. I would definitely call them again.

2 workers came to replace the pressure regulator. They were professional, knowledgeable, and polite. They worked efficiently. It went quite smoothly. They even helped diagnose another plumbing problem that came to my attention since i first made the appointment. Wonderful experience overall. I highly recommend them.

Very rapid response on a Sunday evening. Work was done quickly and professionally. I would use Mike Mertz again for plumbing issues.

The trap was located in a brand new very expensive driveway that had just been completed 2 weeks prior to the sewer problem. The plumber came located the problem and was able to replace the trap without any damage to the new driveway. They came when they saidthey would and for at least 3 days they worked thru the rain to complete it.

We had our sewer backup and Matt had his men here first thing in the morning. They were very professional and were skilled with what they did. Very nice people to work with. Also, they did take the $25.00 from Angies List so the job only cost $125.00 not $150.00 One last note, my mother was the one who worked with them and she had asked they look at a toilet and an outside drain which was clogged. They gave her advice on both. We will be using them for services again. UPDATE: We did have them come back to look at an outdoor drain. They came the same day we called. They snaked it and found the pipe has broke. They were willing to come back and dig it up for us and replace the pipe. Again, right on time, very professional and knowledgable. Matt did not charge us for this visit since we will have them come back and take care of the original issue (a clogged up drain).

My basement sewer drain backed up on a Sunday night. Called a nationally known company to have omeone out to snake and clear the drain (Sunday - Steelers game - hard to find someone.) They were not able to open the sewer - it was completely blocked. They gave me an estimate to repair two drains ($7,500.) When I saw the number, I decided I wanted to have someone else check it out. I selected Matt Mertz plumbing because of the outstanding reviews on Angie's list. Called Mr. Mertz who agreed to come to my house first thing Monday (11/29/11) morning. Matt came on time; diagnosed the problem and explained it in clear terms (broken/misaligned house trap.) Matt checked the other company's estimate for repair of two drains and told me only one needed to be done. This alone saved me thousands of dollars. Matt wrote the estimate while at my home. Because the situation was an emergency and his bid was a few hundred dollars lower than the other company's for the one job that actually was necessary, I accepted the bid and he rearranged his jobs to begin the work the next day. He informed me the job would take two days and all the details of what to expect, including materials.He took care of contacting utilities and having the area marked for excavation. The work began the next day. That evening, he called to tell me things had gone according to plan on day 1 and to see if I had questions or concerns (I have never had another service provider check in with me like this. What great customer service.) A few minutes later, he called back and said he was going to make a small adjustment to the work completed that morning to improve the house trap position. He assured me this wouldn't change the estimate (it didn't.) Matt came back for day 2 and got to work. The work passed Allegheny Co Health Department inspection. When I arrived home, the excavated site was restored - he did a beautiful job restoring the area, including grading and replacement gravel for the driveway. I had expected it to look good - it exceeded my expectations. The sewer back up problem is completely fixed and I have no doubt that it is fixed permanently, based on this great experience all the way around. Matt's professionalism is exceptional - it just is pretty rare these days, but he definitely has it. I had almost forgotten what it is like to be treated with respect and great customer service. I can't recommend him highly enough. I am sure his business will thrive and I hope that it does - we need more business people like Matt Mertz.

He had me send pictures of the area and gave me an estimate over the phone. He was awesome. The dishwasher was outside and he single handedly did everything himself. We are going to use him again as we have some leaks.
