Matt Mertz Plumbing Trenchless Sewer Repair Expert

At first, I was not convinced that we'd made the right decision (but stick with the story!). Day 1: The employee that came out initially looked at the leaking faucet, took it somewhat apart to identify parts, and was non-committal on whether it would be better to try to order a replacement cartridge, drive around trying to find one (on the clock on a Saturday) or replace the entire faucet altogether. Ultimately we scheduled for a later day, and had the cartridge ordered. Day 2: the cartridge was put in when my wife was home. I came home later and was unhappy with the fit and finish: a metal ring was loose and the faucet itself was able to be turned. Yet, it wasn't leaking. We had paid $180. The next week, while the shower was on, water began streaming into my first floor closet and basement from below the tub. We turned off the faucet, and panicked. It seemed like the work that was done made things worse somehow, or at least this was a very unfortunate coincidence. We talked to Matt Mertz on the phone and he started with an apology and offer to send someone out the next day. 3rd trip: Hunter came again, and this time he cut an access panel in the closet behind the tub to diagnose the issue. Apparently the faucet would blow water out of the back when the shower plug was pulled up. It was $40 to replace the faucet, and though there was no indication that his prior work might have caused this new problem, NO LABOR WAS CHARGED. This trip took much longer than the last one, and involved dry-wall cutting. Now I understand why Matt Mertz Plumbing has a sterling reputation, and I will comfortably call on them again. End result: faucet replaced, and put together well. Cost: $220.

Water leaking from ceiling in powder room. Called Matt Mertz Plumbing to see when they could look at it. Office called back in a few minutes and said someone was in our area and would be able to be there soon. Plumber arrived in about 10 minutes, diagnosed the section of leaky pipe and replaced it. From start to finish - only about 40 minutes, and a reasonable price. It is so rare that handling an emergency goes so smoothly - especially on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Our sincere thanks to Hunter for being so prompt, efficient, and courteous. He is an asset to the company. I was so pleased with Matt Mertz Plumbing, I would highly recommend them and definitely call them again.

Matt put a video camera down my sewer under my basement and informed me that I did not need to have my pipes replaced. I was told by another plumber that the work needed to be done. Matt also checked the work I just had done and told me that his price would have been much lower than what I had paid the previous plumber to do. I am truly sorry that I did not call Matt first. He was very professional, helpful and honest!

No arrival, cancelled appts and no return calls......that show it went overall. The companies response is inaccurate. Yes, I was called and informed about the emergency.As I said these things happen. I was not asked what else would work for me as to schedule, i was instead told that "Matt" would call me back that afternoon as soon as the emergency was settled. I waited for a call back and after a week or so, I posted my experience. I had no intention of saying anything beyond what happened, But since they felt it necessary to blame ME instead of taking responsibility for their actions I felt it necessary to respond. I am sure they do good work for people as their reviews support, just not for me.

He is the best plumber that we have ever worked with. We needed our sewer drain dug up and redone. We had got quotes ranging from $5000 and we had to be without water for three days but he did in less than $5000. He had the water back off and on in a one day period like we used water in the morning and then when we came back home at night he had it back on. He was great. We would recommend him to anybody.

Called on a Friday, they set the appt for Monday between 10AM and Noon. They were here at 10:30 (and called 1/2 before letting me know when they would arrive) and finished by 12:30, including the garbage disposal replacement.

He came out and used a large snake and tried to open the blockage. He knew he would have to go in and see what was going on which would have been a very large and expensive project, and he advised us to call our burrow first, to make sure that when the main line was redone, several years ago, we were reattached properly. As it turned out, we were not, so the sewer line was reconnected as it should have been, at no cost to us.

Both of the drains have been clogged up for months, and I finally contacted someone based on the reviews for Matt Mertz Plumbing. I was able to get an appt in 1 day. They were fast, courteous and now my drains drain perfectly!

Tuesday May 8, 2012 we had about 4 inches of water in our basement. I called Matt Mertz around 10 am and he had a truck there by 2 pm, which I thought was remarkable. They identified the problem as a broken trap to my sewer line, which I did not like hearing! Matt gave me a very reasonable estimate, but better yet he could start the two-day job the next day. They complete the job as promised in the time frame for the price quoted. They helped make an awful situations much better. As part of the work, they had to get access to the front garden to fix a fresh air vent. My wife and I are particular about our garden and don't like folks trampling through it. But the plumbers were very respectful and did a great job.

The latest time we used Matt we called him and he was over the next day looking thru dirt to find a line in our lower lot at work. He found it quickly and what I was most surprised was for all the work he did it w only 150$. Great job as usual!

Our renters from our rental property called and said they had raw sewage in the basement. Matt Mertz Plumbing was wonderful! Jim was prompt, courteous, and extremely efficient. He snaked out the drain and even helped clean up the sewage! I would absolutely recommend them again, and feel comfortable in saying 'we have a plumber!' Clearly, there was a line missing in that old song: 'Mama's, don't let your babies grow up and flush tampons!'

They came quickly. They were prompt and efficient. The invoice was reasonable.

Hunter from Matt Mertz Plumbing showed up when expected and surveyed the work to be done. My toilet had a broken flange and was rocking, possibly causing leaking into the subflooring. Hunter explained what the problem was and what needed to be done. He began the work but, unfortunately, some of the needed equipment was not with him in the work truck. He cleaned the area, left everything in a condition where work could be continued, replaced a broken shut-off valve that he had noticed when doing the prep, and scheduled with the home office to send someone out the next morning to finish the job. Jesse showed up the next morning and replaced the broken flange. My bathroom looked as though no plumbing work had been done at all! Total amount of time was approx. 3 hours. I felt the cost was very reasonable. I will work with this company again.

Matt and his crew were life-savers! We had a clogged sewer line and had called another company for help. When that company found we had used an over-the-counter drain cleaner to try and solve the problem ourselves, they refused to even come out to give us an estimate. Finding Matt on Angie's List, we called and he came out promptly. His crew was on-time, efficient, friendly and extremely professional. They kept us informed during every step of the repair process. It turned out that we needed to replace the main sewer line (our home is 62 years old and the old terracotta pipe had definitely seen better days). In the course of replacing the sewer line, Matt's crew also discovered a leak and rust spots in our old gas line. They ended up replacing both lines and did a great job cleaning up when they were done . . . even recommending a landscaper to come in and rebuild a stone wall that had to be torn down in order to repair the lines. We would not hesitate to call Matt again and have already recommended him to several friends.

Matt was very professional. He had the problem fixed in no time and for a lot less than I expected. Low cost with great service.

I called Mertz on Thursday and spoke to Lisa in the front office. Lisa, who is incredibly friendly and professional, offered to have someone out the same day, however, she made someone available on Saturday, which was at my request and convenience. Hunter (the plumber) showed up on time and immediately put on shoe covers before coming into my house. He had the problem (which took me about 3 hours to create) fixed in about 20 minutes. He fixed my stopper and cleared up a pretty massive clog. He also cleaned up and left my bathroom cleaner than it was before he arrived. I would highly recommend this company to everyone. The staff is friendly, polite and professional about every aspect of the business. I will be honest, I am a first time home - owner so I'm not entirely sure about pricing averages, but I think they were excellent there as well. I paid $110.00 and was expecting to pay over $200.

I called Matt Mertz Plumbing because of all the great reviews on Angie's List. I called at approximately 12:00 noon and spoke with Lisa, who quickly took all of my information and a description of my problem. She then advised me that she would check to see when a plumber would be available and call me back with an estimated time of arrival. Lisa called me back in about 15 minutes and advised me that a plumber could be at my house between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. Jesse, the plumber, arrived at my house at 2:00 pm and immediately went to work diagnosing and correcting my problem. He worked on the problem for approximately 1/2 hour. Both Lisa and Jesse conducted themselves in a professional and courteous manner and it was a pleasure doing business with them. Based on my experience, I would use Matt Mertz Plumbing again and I would recommend them to others.

He was excellent. He did a great job. You would not even know he was here. He has to come back and do a follow up. I will use him in the future.

We're selling a townhouse and some items came up in the home inspection report that needed to be serviced by a certified plumber. I called Matt Mertz Plumbing on a Friday and they were able to have a plumber there on Monday even though we weren't under a time crunch. Lisa, who took my call, is extremely polite and knowledgeable. Hunter worked very hard to install a new dryer vent in a very small space and cleaned up everything afterwards. I'll use Matt Mertz Plumbing again when I have any plumbing problems in our new single family home.

He was able fix right away. Faucet works properly now.

This was a good experience from start to finish. When I set up the appointment, the woman at Matt Mertz Plumbing was helpful, friendly, and asked the right questions to make sure the plumber brought the correct tools to the job. She gave me a two-hour window when someone would arrive and the plumber called to tell me he was on his way within 15 minutes of the start of the window. The plumbers arrived within 10 minutes of calling ahead. They wore shoe covers in my home, which was much appreciated. They were able to correct the problem with my water pressure very simply and quickly. Of course, my tub faucet wasn't leaking while they were there, but they checked it out anyway and couldn't find a problem. They were quick, professional, and knowledgable. I will definitely use them again!

I phoned Matt Mertz Plumbing on 03/20/12 requesting the needed repair. They wanted to schedule the work to be done in two days. But when I told them the pipe was leaking they offered to come that day. They came as promised and fixed the plumbing to my satisfaction.

He was prompt, courteous, timely & neat in his work. Very pleased & will recommend to others.

First, I had 2 other "well known" plumbing companies come over and give an estimate before I called Mertz. Neither one of the "rooter type" companies were able to explain why the leak happened, and both immediately said it would be thousands of dollars to fix, and started talking about digging up my basement, excavating my yard, and replacing the whole line out to the curb without even looking at the problem in depth or trying to explain anything. This didn't make any sense to me, even though I'm not a professional plumber, (I'm just a regular DIY guy) but even I thought they were trying to rip me off. I had two quotes, one was for $7,500 and involved destroying my basement and yard, and the other was $1,200 for the exact same service I got from Mertz. I took pictures of the water leak and emailed them to the Mertz & Co., and was called back pretty quickly with an over the phone estimate after being incredibly disheartened by the big corporate plumbers. I was told their hourly rate, and just my looking at the pics they were able to diagnose the problem and recommend a fix. After seeing the pics they explained the likely problem without any BS or crazy estimates, and they did exactly what they told me they would do, nothing more. They are obviously very experienced and knowledgable. The valve was just old and corroded, they dug up less than a 1ft square of the basement to get to the pipes underneath, took the old valve off and replaced it with a new one. Simple screw off then screw on, replace with a new valve and redo the concrete floor. He was in and out in under 2 hours and left it looking cleaner and more modern than the state it was in when they arrived. I was so happy with the service. The problem is fixed completely, there's nothing wrong with the lines under my house, all I needed was a new inlet and valve. The other rooter companies recommended doing so much unnecessary work. Call Mertz and don't get ripped off! I will definitely use them again if I have any other issues. He was highly professional, knowledgeable, clean, showed up on time, and started working immediately. Work was done quickly and efficiently with no mess. This is what plumbing service should be! What was originally a $1200-7500 estimate turned out to be a NO BS and less than 2 hour fix for $150. A+!!

Excellent. Just joined A-List this a.m. Called the company. They made appt. for two hrs later. They were early (and called and asked if that was cool.) Bill was great-- thorough, communicative, flexible. Feel very happy with service. (And they came to our rescue from awful service on Monday from other company, with botched job.)
