Matt Mertz Plumbing Trenchless Sewer Repair Expert

Our water was shut off by the water department due to a leak located somewhere along our water line. We left a message with Matt Mertz around midnight and he returned our call first thing the next morning. He explained that we needed to contact a company that would locate where in the line the leak occurred and said to call him back. We called him when the leak was located and he said he could be there in a few hours. His crew arrived earlier than expected. They were nothing short of amazing. His crew was professional , polite, friendly, diligent and hard working. They dug, reached the line, repaired and checked that all was working as it should at times in the pouring rain. They explained exactly what was done and what had happened. We were surprised by the reasonable cost for this large job. I have recommended Matt Mertz to a few people already and will continue to do so as well as call him for all our plumbing needs.

The provider was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. We had a very bad previous experience with Gillece plumbing, so it was satisfying to have a true professional come to our home to assess our needs and solve the problem. It is obvious by the work ethic of the professionals involved and the demeanor of the office personnel that this is a company which prides itself on quality. I would highly recommend them.

Arrival day was given but not time. Was suppose to call before coming. Had to wait till 6pm till the plumber arrived. Didnt like this part. Everything else from there was great ! Quick and efficient repair. Happy with results. Use it for all plumbing issues now.

Plumber was professional and completed the work in a timely manner. We were not satisfied with the initial fix of the shower faucet, as it was too loose and did not maintain its position. When we called about this, they sent someone out the same day to fix the problem, and credited the cost of the previous unsatisfactory work toward this second visit, which did fix the problem. We were very happy with the final work results. When we had a problem, they acted quickly and without argument to resolve the issue.

Great! Took several visits but they did a good job.

I called on Saturday about a new water heater, left a message. Lisa returned my call within the hour, said Matt would call me on Sunday. Matt called me on Sunday, but I wasn't able to answer. I called back a few minutes after his call, but wasn't able to get in touch. I called back again on Monday morning and left a message at 7:30 AM. Between 7:30 AM and 9 AM (when Matt called back) I moved forward with another company to do the needed work. When Matt called at 9 AM, I told him that since we weren't able to sync up, I went with someone else. I think the interaction up to this point was totally normal. My calls were returned when they said they would be and in a timely manner, we just weren't able to get in touch and I happened to go with someone else in the meantime. I've used Matt and team before without any issues. When Matt called at 9 AM I told him that I went in another direction he got very defensive about returning my calls, saying things like well you didn't answer on Sunday, and I was with my kids on Saturday. I was a bit confused as to what was happening at this point, and said so. Matt got angrier after that, I told him I didn't understand why he was so upset or why he was acting in the manner he was, at which point he hung up on me. Matt and team returned my calls in a timely manner, it just didn't work out this time. I didn't appreciate the interaction after Matt was informed of the decision, but I'm sure I just caught him on a bad day.

When a heavy rainfall caused my downspouts to back up and leave water in my basement, I shot a video of the problem and then e-mailed it to Matt. The next afternoon, he came by the house at the promised time, used his camera-snake to go down the downspout to diagnose the problem and, within minutes, unclogged a drain pipe buried underground about 50 feet from my house. He was quick, courteous and, above all, knowledgeable. Matt is by far the best contractor I have used in the area. I only wish he could handle my computer problems, my electrical, my driveway, etc.

I called and made an appointment for the morning. I received a phone call right when I was expecting it and we discussed what I needed - tank size and particulars. Two men arrived 30 minutes later and got started immediately, providing a very reasonable quote, explaining exactly what needed to be done. The work was done within one hour and was exactly as quoted. Both me were very friendly. Try removed the old water heater and left the room exactly as it was when they arrived. I am very pleased with this work and will use them again.

First time using Mertz plumbing. They were able to schedule me in quickly and were punctual in arriving at the time they stated. The plumber "Jack" was professional and knowledgeable about the problem. He was able to fix the problem and explained the reason for the problem. Would use them again if any other problems arose. Price was to going rate for plumbing services, except they don't charge for travel time as some other plumbers in the area do.

It went swimmingly. In under two hours, I was once again able to use my shower and bathroom sink...much to the relief of my friends and family.

down the stairs to the garage door and the next thing I know I am skating all over my TILE FLOOR that is in the workbench area - as they coiled the garden hose from using it to assist them in the video of the drain pipe - apparently his assistant did not have the brain capacity to DRAIN THE HOSE FIRST in the laundry tub so lo and behold there was a LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER on the tile floor and I am trying my hardest to regain my balance to no avail - and BAM - down I went yet again - all thanks to Matt Mertz and his QUALITY WORK! I laid there for nearly 2 hrs until someone heard me through the garage door - MRI's, Xrays, etc - forced to STAY IN PGH as I was unable to fly back home to Las Vegas for 6-8 more weeks - it was a nightmare. Matt Mertz REFUSED to work with me and provide me with his insurance information, etc - but I have NOT forgotten about it and will pursue. But in the meantime, while healing I called another plumbing company and literally watched the camera this time as he checked the pipes and learned that where Matt Mertz told me I need HUNDREDS of feet of PVC pipe -in fact I Already HAD - so his quote for this astronomical amount was BOGUS - he would have jackhammered up three living area rooms in the finished basement, then through a large workbench area and the garage area all the way to the exterior of the house and to the new vent on the driveway - well I hired the OTHER company and the job was done with 1.5 days vs. over a week and what Matt Mertz, himself, told me was OLD PIPING in fact was PVC Pipe. So as far as professionalism, his lack of action (Cleaning up after a job site - he and his partner FAILED MISERABLY) and then when only less than 5 minutes away from my house when he was notified that he left the site with the garage door unlatched (which they unlatched) -they SHOULD HAVE returned; and who uses a garden hose inside a home and does NOT DRAIN the hose in a laundry tub OR carry it outside with both opening upright so that they do NT leave a MASSIVE puddle on the homeowners flooring? Then.... when the homeowner/employer (as he was hired to do a job - flush drain and run a camera) - and the homeowner is hurt because of 100% his lack of action/clean up - etc - he REFUSES to supply the homeowner with his insurance information so that they can bill the PROPER person as my accidents were 100% his FAULT and due to HIS NEGLIGENCE. I would not recommend him and his crew to ANYONE! Beware - even the other plumber that was at the house found other "issues" that Matt had FAILED to detect but Matt was going to create this MASSIVE project at my house at an astronomical price that was NOT NEEDED at all - so truthworthy - not a chance! BEWARE and think twice before considering hiring Matt Mertz. This could happen to you, permanent damage to my spine, lack of working with me to "correct" his mistakes, etc - NIGHTMARE. A lawyer will get involved and Matt Mertz' and the situation will be corrected as it should have been done - if he had ONLY turned around and put the house back the way he found it when he arrived at the job site when I called him within 3-5 minutes of him leaving my house. Anyone that leaves a job site like that and permits a homeowner to get injured should be ashamed of themselves and then NOT to work with them to assist them in anyway possible - I don't find that person to have moral, values and any integrity and I would NOT want him in my house nor any of my friends ever again.

In November of 2013, we began having plumbing issues with the showers draining very very slowly. We lived with it for a few months until I accidentally flooded the basement bathroom. We contacted Matt Mertz Plumbing and they came out and snaked the drain. It was so backed up, they weren't able to see much but could tell that it was likely a broken terra cotta pipe. Since it was such a huge job, we went through our Homeowner's Insurance. They came back out and began work. They gave us a timeline of 3 days and were finished on day 3! They had to dig up a huge portion of the basement, replaced all of the pipe and even rerouted some of the pipes for easier access in the future. Since we had to have our flooring replaced, someone came back a few weeks later to replace the toilet for us, no problem. I highly recommend them. They were professional, courteous and most importantly prompt!

Matt Mertz Plumbing we found them using Angie's list. They were excellent. They did a very professional job, very quick, neat, they kept the place clean. Did what they said they were going to do and I was very, very happy with the results.

I chose this company considering potentially many jobs that should be done in the house I recently bought. I looked through Angie's list reviews carefully and trusted it. Also because I own a house for the first time and never had to deal with a plumber before, Lisa has been always very responsive and kind to talk to. However, when a guy from this company (Jeff) came to look into our garage drain today, it actually ruined my day. A few hours ago, I was happily working with my contractors and also guys came for other jobs in the house. This plumbing guy came in, I showed him the drain, explained it is suspected that it backs up when it rains. It's a fine day today and it was not backing up today although I ran my toilet couple times to see. First he said "it's $99 with the coupon." so I said "oh, it's $90. I checked that coupon this morning and said that in my email to Lisa too." It's not a problem if I need to pay $9 more or not, however he was acting as if I was lying to save $9. I was nicely telling him that I will show him my coupon on my computer. However, he was pushing me over and over saying "I do this all the time. It's $99." Again it's ok he believes that however he has no right to treat me like a liar and to be rude. It started like this, I was already feeling quite bad and still just hoping him to fix this problem and leave. He brought his snake. I asked him about the free camera inspection in the coupon. He was again rudely responded as if I'm asking something I don't deserve. The truth is that he didn't have one. He ran his snake for a few seconds and said the pipe is broken so there is nothing he can do about. I asked him how much it would cost to fix it. He said couple thousands dollars? then a bit later said probably around $2000. I was expecting him to give me a detailed estimation and was talking with other guys for other jobs. He brought me a slip for paying $90. There was nothing fixed and all I got was a completely bad experience ruining my day and I was paying $90 for that. And I asked him why he was not giving me an estimation. Finally he called his boss and brought me a real estimation which was actually only $985 according to his boss. If I had a good experience, I would not hesitate for a second to order this job however I'm not going to ask this company to do this job after this experience. It's too bad that I'm not good at describing attitudes in writing. I had to cry after he left... I hope that explains. That guys was clearly not caring, nor respecting me and my house. It was a great contrast with my experience with my contractors and also Coit guys came in at the same time. They were caring this job as if it's their house. I emailed what happened to Lisa and she called me and apologized. I appreciate what she did. However unfortunately I don't think I'll work with or recommend this company to anyone....

Matt, Lisa, Mike and Conor are fantastic. The whole team is service oriented and serious about creating customers for life. From the initial call, to the initial estimate, to the work that was performed on multiple days, they provided service that met our expectations. They were all extremely patient in answering our many concerns. They were very careful with our home as they completed the work and left everything neat and clean when they left. They even offered to haul away the debris from the pipes removed from the pump room, however, we kept them sine we had a construction waste dumpster to place them in. We look forward to working with them again!

Matt's professional experience and the talents of his crew saved the day! A project for french drains around an addition built by the former owners turned into major excavating. Matt recognized the source of the water problems and knew exactly how to correct mistakes made by the other contractors. To say he saved us thousands of dollars is not an exaggeration. My yard was completely regraded by Matt - better than before! The crew even cleaned the street (and are very patient with little grandchildren). I am extremely grateful for Matt's experience, his standard of excellence and his generosity. Matt is a man of honor and operates a company you can trust.

I walked down my basement stairs after being gone for a week and stepped into a 1/2 inch of water. I went to shut the main valve off and realized it was coming in from before the valve. I called the water company and had them send out someone to shut it off at the curb. While waiting for them to show I opened up Angie's List and started to call plumbers. I probably contacted 5-6 other plumbers before I talked to Matt Mertz Plumbing (MMP) and no one else could get out the same day to help, so I made an appointment for the next day with someone else. This obviously didn't sit so well with me cause I needed help now! I decided to keep calling people cause I really wanted someone to come out. MMP recognized that I wanted someone out immediately since I still had water coming in the basement and set up a call for that afternoon. The water company got here and got the water shut off, the guy asked what plumber I had coming out. When I told him MMP, he said I made a great choice (which obviously made me feel great). The guy from MMP got out to my house a few hours later. He quickly wrote up the estimate. Work could not start that day since it was already late in the afternoon, but just having them come out and talk to me, gave me tons of peace of mind (and that goes a loooong way when an investment like your home is in question). They got started promptly the next morning and were done by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. The big hole where they dug the water line up couldn't be back filled till the work was inspected by both the county and the water company. It got inspected the next day, the water got turned back on and they back filled the hole. While they were here I had them move a wash tub for me. There must have been miscommunication between myself and the guy who wrote the estimate because the water lines (that were originally copper) were replaced with Pex when they moved the sink. This didn't sit well with me (mechanically nor aesthetically) so I talked with Matt and he immediately rectified the issue by sending out someone to run new copper lines. The MMP employees that were here were always professional, polite and communicative. I am very impressed with the quality of their work. I will absolutely use MMP again for any plumbing needs and would recommend them to any friend/family member, they are a very upstanding company.

It took several appointments to do all the work that we required. Hunter was always on time and professional. We appreciate the work and will use them again in the future.

We had a drain clog (from an upstairs toilet) in our basement which caused it to overflow onto the finished hardwood floor. I searched Angie's List for plumbers in our area (I should note this was on a Sunday) and searched plumbers within 15miles with an "A" rating. After I called the first two businesses on the list (no answer) I was able to reach someone in the office of Matt Mertz Plumbing. I explained our situation and the woman told me Matt was out on a call but she would have him call me back within the hour. Matt called me back within 30minutes and came out with a coworker about an hour later to assess the problem. He returned the next day (15min. early!) to fix the problem. It took about an hour to find/fix the clog and install a new trap. Matt was very professional, reasonably priced and got the job done quickly and efficiently. We haven't had any problems since. We would definitely call him again if need be and would highly reccommed Matt Mertz Plumbing to others!

I had a stuffed drain in my wash basin next to my washing machine that I was not able to unclog myself with a store bought professional strength drain cleaner. I called several Plumbers who advertised as 24 hour same day service. Matt Mertz Plumbing was the only one who gave a very prompt response by phone. They arrived at my home within a half hour. The workers were prompt and efficient. They unclogged the drain and replaced the drain pipe at my request at a very reasonable rate for same day/weekend service. I am a very satisfied customer. I would recommend theirservice to my friends.

Matt came to our house within a day. He gave us an estimate~which was very reasonable. He showed up on-time everyday and walked us through the whole process. We have had no problems since having it fixed. We have recommended him to neighbors~ who are also happy with their results. One neighbor used him AFTER using another well-known plumber and investing $20,000 into something that did not fix the problem. Go to Matt first!

They picked up the new stuff, installed and cleaned up and were out in a few hours. They even took the old stuff away with them. Efficient and professional! Would definitely use them for future jobs.
