Ron and his crew showed up to my house and started working promptly at 7am, immediately getting to work on the driveway retaining wall. The old one was falling apart from water damage. They rebuilt the wall beautifully and took care to address the drainage issue so that the new wall lasts much longer. They also moved a doorway in our basement about two feet to the right in a block wall to allow us to build a laundry closet. Our contractor was able to easily frame around the new wall. Extremely courteous crew, friendly and they cleaned up very well when they were finished. Couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Tore out old driveway retaining wall and built a new one. Also moved a doorway in the basement that was built into a block wall.

Ron Fisher was very prompt and professional. He came out to see the job (twice!), provided me detailed estimates, explained the work to be done, and found additional problems neither I nor my home inspector had found. I had three masons come out, and Ron was the cheapest and seemed to be the best. Unfortunately for Ron, I ended up moving. I can't review any of his work, since we didn't get that far.

My neighbor informed me that a small chimney (that I am unable to see from my yard or driveway) was leaning. I got bids from Fisher Masonry as well one other company and went with Fisher because he gave me a firm price as opposed to an estimate. He scheduled and completed the job within a week. Obviously I can't inspect the work up close but it certainly is straight and the mortar appears to have been repaired. I have used Ron Fisher before; he is prompt, polite, and professional.

I had several quotes on this project and Ron Fisher received the job because he was professional, responsive explained the problem and how he was going to fix it. He also had some used brick that he was able to use to match the existing. He provided a written proposal and was able to start the project in a very short time period. Once we agreed on a start date, Ron arrived on time for the work, were very neat, quiet, and cleaned up thoroughly after the work was done. I felt very comfortable having Fisher Masonry at my home and would not hesitate to call Ron again for any brick/masonry projects. He really cares about the work he is doing and he matched my chimney brick perfectly. I couldn't believe the difference in the look of my chimney/window sills! I am happy to have this project completed before winter but I am most pleased to be able to tell anyone looking for an outstanding mason that Ron Fisher is simply the best.
Description of Work: Fisher Masonry Contracting removed the cement cap and about 15 rows of brick at the top of the chimney and rebuilt it with matching brick; repointed and sealed up the chimney; and put new bird screening on top. They also cut out and replaced spalled brick and rebuilt window sills on two windows. Ron was able to provide used brick that matched perfectly.

I'm totally happy with all the work. They arrived on time for the work, were very neat, quiet, and cleaned up thoroughly after the work was done. I'm especially impressed and grateful for the extras they did for me at no additional expense. They had extra mortar and pointed a small chimney and the pillar on my porch where they noticed mortar was missing. They also let me know that the flashing around both chimneys was in good shape, but that I should contact a roofer to have some missing shingles replaced. I would definitely call them again in the future.
Description of Work: Pointed the chimneys, repaired the brick face on the fireplace, laid brick on the existing hearth to raise it and installed insulation above the fireplace to prevent heat escaping up the chimney. (At one time, it was a gas fireplace, but it's strictly decorative now.)

If I remember correctly, this is the fifth time we have used Ron for masonry repair. The first two times were chimney repairs (recapping and repointing) at two different homes, then a exterior repair where an a/c unit had been installed as well as cutting holes for concrete footers in our basement.. This latest repair session was repointing the bricks in various areas of the exterior walls our home, replacing and setting sandstone on our front stoop, installation of a glass block basement window, repair of a supporting wall for our deck and plugging the abandoned coal chute hole. His price is reasonable, he communicates the job schedule, he shows up on time, is very efficient and cleans up his work area. He is very professional in his approach and dealing with the homeowner. For those reasons, we will continue to call Ron first with any of our masonry needs.
Description of Work: Ron and his small crew did several different masonry repairs on our 80+ year old home.

I couldn't be happier. Apparently there's been water seeping between the brick wall supporting my deck and garage for years -- before I owned the house. I initially called another mason also on Angie's list (Ed Perry -- Perry Masonry) since he's a family friend and does excellent work. Ed looked at the job to be done and said it was more extensive than he normally handles so he recommended Ron Fisher. Ron came, scoped out the job, gave me a reasonable price and went and ordered the brick from a local brickyard, but let me know that the brick had to be ordered from South Carolina so he wasn't sure when the work could begin, depending on delivery. He also let me know that brick on my house is older and a non standard size so we weren't going to get a perfect match. A couple of weeks went by and when he called me he said the person at the brickyard had ordered the wrong brick which they admitted to him when he went to pick up my order. They told him they wouldn't order another shipment from So. Carolina until early next year. Undaunted, Ron walked around and uncovered some stock that he felt was the right color and size to match this job so he bought a supply and called me. He said he'd bring it to show me and if I didn't agree and didn't want to take it he would just keep what he already bought and paid for and use it for some future job. He came by the next day and I thought the match was fine so we scheduled the work. He basically gave me an approximate start date and the work started when the weather conditions were dry enough to allow the mortar to set. He showed up today with his crew, they set up scaffolding, he removed the old bricks which had actually been hollowed out with all the years of water seepage, he replaced the bad bricks and left me some stock in case other areas need to be done later. They cleaned up all the dust and debris and other than having a beautiful new wall, you wouldn't know work had been done here. Excellent work and it came in a little below his original estimate. PERFECT!

Replacing a double wide garage door lintel on 50 year old two story brick house is definitely not a DIY job and requires an expert mason since many things can go wrong. The original lintel was an 18 foot, 10-inch wide steel plate welded to the bottom of the I-beam that spanned the 16 foot wide garage door opening. The severely rusted steel plate would be cut off the I-beam and replaced by a 4 inch angle iron that would support the brick above. After contacting Ron through Angie?s List, we talked on the phone about what needed to be done. After he looked over the job, he called me later that week and clearly explained what needed to be done and gave me a quote over the phone. He also noted some other masonry issues that should fixed in the next year but then gave me a few pointers on how to do it myself. The quote was reasonable but I waited for the written quote before signing off on the work. When talking with Ron, it was very clear that he is the one doing the work and not a front sales guy. He was polite and personable over the phone. On the first day, Ron arrived with two other men to set up the scaffolding, brace the brick work above the rusted out lintel. My wife met him and his crew and said he was very personable. Later that day, I stopped by to see how things were going and also to have my first face to face meeting with Ron. He was up on the scaffold with a power grinder removing the old lintel. Although covered in dust, he took time to introduce himself and explain what he was doing. He would have the new lintel in place by the end of the day. As an extra touch, he painted the exposed parts of the old I-beam to make the job look better and keep it from rusting. When I came home later that evening, the job site was straightened up and made safe. The following day he would replace all of the bricks that were previously removed and repoint the masonry as needed. Arriving home that evening, I was greeted by craftsman-like masonry work and a clean worksite. Ron even repointed some of the masonry on the side of the house that had come loose. Like painting the old I-beam, the extra pointing was not in the original quote but in his sense of doing the job right. He came back on the third day to clean off the brick work with muriatic acid. The tinting of the new mortar was a very close match to the old mortar. Looked perfect to me even after a very close inspection.

No doubt about it, Ron and his crew are the BEST. My brick was hard to match in color and texture, but Ron was the only contractor to meet with me in person while doing an estimate, and then he stopped by again to show me the brick he got to closely match my existing brick, even prior to me hiring him. The work done by his company exceeded my expectations. The chimney looks great. He additionally recaulked the flashing. The job was done in one day. After completing the job he enclosed the chimney in plastic wrap since he was expecting rain that night, and had someone come over and remove it the next day. Since I now have found someone that can do good brick work, I will be hiring him again to do more brick work and my front porch and driveway wall.

Mr. Fisher answered my call and actually came out for an estimate that same day. He was very professional and courteous. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and told me that it may be a month before he could fit me in. That is about what I had expected. However, I received a phone call from Ron in about 10 days. He had a cancellation and was able to fit me in sooner. His team arrived very promptly in the morning and completed the job in one day. They matched the mortar on my house and did a wonderful job. It was great to have an actual bricklayer for this job since he did remove and even up many of the bricks on the front and side of the house. I was very impressed. The quality of the work is excellent and I highly recommend Ron and his team.

The job went very well. I contacted Ron Fisher and he came out to give me an estimate within a day or two of me calling him. He called me back with the estimate the next day and also provided me with a written estimate via email. We had had several other concrete repair companies come out to look at the job. Some wanted to try to do do the repair without replacing the concrete blocks which were crumbling, and others wanted to tear the entire porch down and replace the whole thing. Ron's proposal for repairing and replacing the concrete blocks, as well as sealing all of the cracks so that future water damage would be prevented seemed like the most reasonable proposal, and it was also the most cost effective. He came out the following week with his crew and they completed the entire job within a day. The quality of the work they did was excellent, and the porch looks great. I would not hesitate to use Fisher Masonry Contracting again for any future work, and I would highly recommend them to anybody who needs masonry work done.
Description of Work: Repaired the foundation of a back porch which was falling apart due to age and water damage. They removed the concrete blocks that had deteriorated and replaced them, and and sealed all cracks. Repaired concrete steps.
