Description of Work: Thompson's Basement Waterproofing installed a waterproofing system where they made a trench around the inside of the basement walls, drilled holes into the bottom blocks, inserted a drain pipe that leads to a sump pump, and then cemented everything back up.

Wonderful experience!
Description of Work: We called Thompson's after finding them on Angie's list. We filled out an email request on their website and literally within minutes a very friendly lady called me to set up an initial estimate. We were told that Brett would be at our house between 6-8pm, he showed up promptly at 6pm. He was professional and knowledgeable. After an hour of eliminating possible causes of the leaking in the basement we started to discuss setting up another appointment as he would have to dig deeper to find the cause. He then took some more time and did find the issue of the leak. He said he was not going to charge us for the help and did not make us feel pressured at all. My husband did give him a little something for his trouble because we were sure most companies would have charged us the full amount for finding the issue. We were very happy with this company and we would definitely recommend them.

Description of Work: A salesman came to our home promptly on time and reviewed the problems with our basement. Water on floor, mold, and dampness. He had credentials, proof of licenses and recommendations. Based on everything their team came out on time and waterproofed the problem area, removed the mold professionally, installed a sump pump as well as a dehumidifier. The warranty will extend to the next owner should we sell. It has been a full year and we have had no problems in our basement for which we are very grateful. I am very hard to please and I would use them again.

Thompson's Basement Waterproofing was very professional. They did work on our second home while we were not there and they were able to handle this very well. They did a good job and cleaned up very well after the job was over.

Went great, overall. This was the 3rd company we called in for an estimate, so we'd heard other sales pitches already. The Thompson salesman seemed much more knowledgeable than the others and did not try any scare tactics or high-pressure sales tactics, which we appreciated. Also, the estimate was the lowest out of three, so we went for it. The workmen were punctual, polite, and worked h****** this job. During the job, the workmen found that part of our flooding issue was due to broken pipes around the basement window wells (which they explained thoroughly and showed us) so we agreed on a price for that job and had that completed as well. Even after that added expense, the total was still far less than the other estimates we had received, so it was still a great deal.
Description of Work: Installed a whole waterproofing system in our large, partially finished basement. Drywall and carpeting had to be removed. The system includes a trench dug around perimeter of basement, relief holes drilled in cindeblock, trench filled with stones and piping material, and two wells dug and pumps installed.

I called on a Tuesday, on Wednesday the estimator came. He seemed to really know about basements, water, and mold. We agreed to his suggestions and asked for an estimate. Not knowing how much something like this should cost we thought his price was reasonable. He told us that since right after Christmas is a slow time for them, he would take $500 off the price if they could come tomorrow. I envisioned teams of men in haz-mat suits. Two nice young men arrived at 8 the next morning. The first thing they did was tape heavy paper from a roll onto the kitchen floor, from the back door to the basement door. There was a lot of going back and forth. They need to jack hammer the floor, for the pit, and then lots of trips with buckets of stones, etc. I could see the need for the paper, it ended up being very muddy. They were done by noon. I was taken down to the basement to be shown what they had done. They had also cleaned the mud off the floor and the steps. They hooked up the dehumidifier and put the drain hose down into the sump pit through a hole in the lid. Then I was told that I should not plug it in for one week as the concrete needed time to dry. It now has been running for two weeks. I can tell the biggest difference. Especially in the absence of that "musty" smell that mold brings. My husband has been having trouble with lung and breathing issues. I believe that the basement mold has been a factor with that. I am confident that our mold problem has been taken care of.
Description of Work: Sprayed the walls and ceilings to kill the existing mold. Before doing that plastic was draped over items stored in the (unfinished) basement. The broken sump pump was replaced and the sump pit was bought into code. We were given the option on the pit. We were told that we were grandfathered and nothing needed to be done to it until we sold the house. We elected to do it all now. That involved making our pit wider, not as deep, and a closed lid put on it. Lastly they delivered and installed a commercial grade dehumidifier.

I contacted the company and an estimator came to my house to examine my problem. He was early by 5 minutes which was fine by me as I don't like to wait. He explained in detail how their company handles wet basements and what he suggested for my problem. It called for a full perimeter drain and sump pump, along with my decision to add the anti-microbial membrane from ceiling to floor for added piece of mind. I received a call about a month later asking if I was still interested and that they were running a January sale. Their head inspector Addam came out and was able to knock a substantial amount off of my estimate. The workers were due at my house around 830ish but did not arrive until 10am due a snow fall. No big deal as they got to work immediately after reviewing the estimate with the foreman. 8 hrs later, my system was done and the men were on their way home. The workmanship appears good and the system hasn't had to come into play due to the cold spell. When all of the snow melts, we'll see.
Description of Work: It called for a full perimeter drain and sump pump, along with a lateral drain under the basement slab to assist with water drainage. An anti-microbial membrane was addedat my request from ceiling to floor to protect against any water infiltration through the walls.

The sales representative delivered exactly on his prescribed services. Job was completed in one day (albiet 12 hour day). Arrived on-site at 7:30am and left with truckload of removed concrete at 7:30pm. Drains went around oil tank and furnace with drain holes included. The project supervisor kept the job on taget and insured everything was completed to specifications. He did a great job under trying conditions (time & unanticipated conditions). The final product exceeded expectations. I waited for a big rain to publish this assessment. The system worked perfectly. Both sump pumps were pushing water out the low side of the house during the big rains. I could both hear the water running in the drains in the basement and see it flow outside. After many years of pushing water to drains during these type events, I now have a completely dry basement. What a relief!! Thanks, Thompson's for a great job at a great price.
Description of Work: Full waterproffing of 144 lin. ft. basement including two sump pumps. Jackhamer below foundation folowed by French drain installation under basement foundation including stone layer and PVC pipe (two holes under lower side with stocking type cover to eliminate silt) and weep holes in bottom blocks.

We had interviewed several other waterproofing companies and the representative sent out by Thompson was the most professional. He was able to answer all of our questions and was very honest. He explained the process thoroughly and detailed out everything that would be done. He was extremely courteous as well. The price that he offered us was very reasonable compared to other estimates that we received. On the day of the installation, Thompson sent out 2 very young techs who were also extremely professional. They were on time and very respectful of our work schedules. They also explained to us the entire process and were very willing to answer any questions. They would consult with us before making any "major" decisions (i.e. where to install the sump pump, location of the external drain pipe, etc...). In total, it took them about 6 hours to complete the job. Since the installation, we have had at least 2 major rain storms and no water leakage. We would strongly recommend Thompson's Waterproofing.
Description of Work: This company performed an installation of a "waterproofing" system along the back wall in our basement. They installed a pressure relief system with a sump pump.

We have a creek that runs the entire width of our property which overflows with regularity. The basement was waterproof twice and the water problem continued. Thompson's explained why the previous attempts failed and made a proposal with a lifetime gurantee. Though apprehensive we signed a contract and are so glad that we did. The workmen knew that it would be a very dirty job so the did everything possible to minimize the mess. Our carpets were protected and care given to everything. They were very professional and considerate. A lot of people in our area had water in their basement but we did not have a drop.
Description of Work: The solution to our basement waterproofing involved removing the previous installed drain pipes and the concrete covering them around the perimeter of the basement. They removed the debris bucket by bucket to their truck. The peimeter was dug down to the footings, removed all that debris bucket by bucket. Then drilled holes in the concret block to drain any water that was in the walls. They put stone on the footing-installed large piping with holes- covering the holes so that the pipes would not clog. Covered all of it with stone and concrete leaving a track open to drain any water into 2 sump pumps.

Despite the trauma of losing the finished basement and a lot of furniture, it was a great overall experience. They worked very hard to make sure that we could save things that were important to us, and they spent a lot of time there even though they thought originally that it was a much smaller job. The workmen were very responsible, responsive, warm and polite. They cleaned up everything afterwards. I was extremely impressed with the whole thing, from beginning until end. The only thing I wish was that when the inspector came out at the beginning and told us that the dehumidifier costs 1700, he would have said that that is 300 dollars over the cost of the item, and that it is their own profit margin and their costs for being responsible for the dehumidifier. If he had said it at the beginning, I wouldn't have been so shocked when I saw I was being charged so much more than the cost. Otherwise - I would definitely go back to this company.
Description of Work: They gutted our mold filled basement, including removing and wiping down all the furniture and items that had mold on them and saving what could be saved. After gutting the basement, they sprayed it down and brought in an expensive dehumidifier (included in the above price).

My daughter had work done but I wanted to get a great price so I shopped and sure enough Thompsons saved me quite abit of money. They were a little late for the appointment but from there everything went good. My son has a lot of allergies so it was important for me to have not only the water stopped from coming in but to have the mold removed as well. I must say, a few weeks after the installation I did get some water in. I immediately called the office and they sent their General Manager out the same day. I have had no water since and my son's breathing has improved dramatically. I am a retired person and a widow, I was afraid of being taken advantage of but Greg, the inspector was so kind and understanding, He took his time and explained everything and even repeated it to my son when he got home. It's great to see that Family owned and operated businesses are still around. The customer service is unbeatable.

From the first call to the final installation it was fabulous. Everyone was extremely friendly and patient with all my questions. After everything was completed you couldn't even tell they had been here and did all the work that they did because they cleaned up so well. What a pleasant experience especially considering how severe the problem in my basement was. I spoke to other companies but none were as knowlegable or friendly.
Description of Work: We had a wall that was starting to crack with water seeping through. Not only did they get a crew out to us the next day to avoid problems from rain that was coming but they did an awesome job. Repaired the cracks and put in a drain system with a sump pump. Removed all the mold from our basement and prevented it from returning.
