I called for service on my furnace that was not working and I never received a follow up call to set up the service appointment. Not very professional for an A rated company.

I will write back when the job is finished but Mike is very professional, did not try to sell me any thing I did not need, actually told me my old heating system was to big for my house. Sold me a smaller unit. Took plenty of time to check out the duct work and see where I was having the cold spots and why. Explained the technology of the energy efficient systems. I picked my own system, actually picking the more expensive one then he recommended. He was great about scheduling. I anticipate a smooth ride.

Philadelphia got the job done, I will use them again in the future.

They were good. They were very responsive and returned a second time to take care of an omitted need left out the first time. The owner was very attentive.

I called Mike explaining I had a leak in my AC unit and I needed him to take a look ASAP. He was right on top of it and came the next morning which was great. After a very brief look he said it needed to be replaced. Both the unit itself and the fan on the deck. He did some research and came up with an $8,800 quote for a new system. I called a competitor who came the next morning...noticed the leak was due to the drain pan - he replaced it and all is well. $65 charge. That's the short version...

We discussed options; he quickly found replacement parts and performed repairs next day. Unit is working more efficiently now. Thank you PG&E!

My mother who is 92 years old was without heat. My mother lives in Phila. and I live 3 hours away in Connecticut. I called Phila. Gas Electric just before 10 am and they responded and fixed the problem by 12:30 that afternoon. Great service, great job, very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. The price seemed reasonable and I even got a $30 discount because of Angie's List. I could not be more pleased! Thank you Phila Gas Electric and thank you Angie's list. It doesn't get any better than this!!!

Overall I am extremely pleased with the service. The pump seems to work, and Mike was quick and efficient (though of course it wasn't a very difficult job). He even mounted an electrical outlet on the furnace to power the pump and routed it to the on/off switch of the furnace. Two minor complaints: First, both times Mike came over, he was about an hour later than he said he was going to be, even though he had already called to confirm the time earlier that day. Second, I was charged an extra $200 for the electrical work. This work was not factored into the original estimate. The work itself is appreciated, since it's the technically "correct" way to do it, however, neither I nor my girlfriend (who was home while the work was being performed) was consulted prior to it being done. The $700 was a surprise for me when I got home, since the estimate was $485 plus tax.

On December 19th (the first snow storm of the 2009/2010 winter season) I woke up to a nonfunctioning gas heater. The service company that installed the heater came out and gave me an astronomical price for repairs and/or replacement while stating that they would not be able to do the repairs until Monday. I decided to place a call through Angie's Listing to Philadelphia Electric & Gas. Although we were having a serious snowstorm, Michael returned my call and walked me through several possibilities to see if he could get it working over the telephone. Michael came out first thing Monday morning and got me up and running. Michael never said to me that it would be X$ for him to come out. He tried to see that I got some sort of action out of my furnace for we were after all in the midst of a snowstorm when my heater died. Michael saved me over $400 from what was previously quoted, but above all his sincere concern about my well-being scored serious points for him to provide service for my HVAC from here on.

Mike was prompt, the work was fast, he gave me a lot of valuable information & was very polite.

They were located opposite to my house and the temperature was 18 degrees outside. They could come out for the quick action. They didn't do a lot of work but the guy that came out took his time to explain things as what he was doing and how to keep everything running properly. I had a problem with my chimney and they recommended a chimney inspector who came and checked it for free.

I called Philadelphia Gas and Electric at 10:30 am (two days before Christmas) and by 2:30 pm my house was warm again! Mike came right out, diagnosed the problem quickly, and made the repairs. Along the way I got an education in heating & thermostats, and a lot of advice about routine maintenance. I would call them again in a heartbeat.

Mike was very thorough in trying several fixes and when they didn't work explaining in detail why not and providing justification for a complete system replacement. He didn't try to upsell in fact advised against a more expensive more energy efficient unit because the costs didn't justify the level of added efficiency. The workers who came to install the system were on time, polite and professional. They did a good job although I deducted a little from the quality score because I felt the tin work could have been a little more precise with less tape sealing it up, and the thermostat was hung crooked. But the system works great and I would use them again.

Our heater stopped working on a cold day in January. A repair person (Mike) came out the same day. After replacing the broken part and going to restart the heater he noticed a build-up of soot within the heating system that would make the heater dangerous to operate--both an explosion hazard and a carbon monoxide risk. He strongly recommended that we not restart the heater and said that our options were either to have the system cleaned (which could be done the next day) or to replace the system altogether. He warned that cleaning the system would get soot all over the house. The heater was over 30 years old and inefficient so we opted to replace it. As Mike inspected our system more closely he realized that the heater could not be replaced without also replacing the air conditioner. We discussed the heater and air conditioner options available and made a choice. Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable. Replacement was scheduled for 3 days later. On the scheduled day the crew arrived on schedule and were very professional. The only thing left undone was the final hookup of the air conditioner, which had to wait until the weather was warmer. When a heat wave was predicted for April the company quickly responded to my requests to get the air hooked up before it got too hot. My only complaint is that Mike strongly recommended that we use a thermostat that he said was going to be much more useful than our previous one. The usual features of the thermostat (setting a temperature and a schedule) are straight-forward, but the "advanced" features, including knowing when to replace the air filter, are confusing and useless to us. Our previous thermostat was much easier to understand.

I would recommend this company to my family and friends.

This past summer when looking for someone to install a new A/C system in my house, I got a few estimates and chose Mike Toran based on his quote, the efficiency of the system and the promise that it would adequately cool my three-story house. Mike outlined three different options of how I could replace my non-functioning A/C and replace my 50-year-old furnace. I chose the most efficient option, which was also the most expensive. Mike was very thorough in examining my system and explaining how it would work. Once I decided on the system, Mike and his workers came by and installed the whole thing in one to two days. I felt like I could leave the workers there on their own and they cleaned up pretty well after themselves. On the whole I am rather happy with the system. The airconditioning worked very well this summer. I am giving the company high marks as Mike was very responsive and I really do like my air conditioner, however, there were a few surprises that came up. I felt that the size of the system (both the inside portion and the outside part) were underestimated when discussed. I was given measurements for the system but also expected that the system was going to be flush against the house. As anyone who owns a trinity knows, space is really important and I wish that size of the products was better explained. Also, upon paying for the project, I was told that for these two systems to run well, I would need to replace my hot water heater. I know really little about the interconnectedness of these systems, but was surprised to hear that I would need to spend yet another $1800 on another appliance. In the estimate, replacing the hot water heater was listed as an optional upgrade. That explains why I gave the price a "B." Still, I will use this company again for my heating and cooling needs. I got a very high tech system that has so far been inexpensive to run.

They were available on short notice. They were also able to diagnose the problem on the phone. They quality of their work was good.

Working with these guys was a great experience. They were the first company to return our call. They came out the next day, and had the parts on hand to do the repair.

Overall it was a great experience for me. It was my first Angie's list find and I am sure I will use them more. I take care of houses in areas that I am not familiar and the ease of using Angies List was great.

Very good experience overall. Mike was very helpful and responsive. Helped to diagnose the problem with the ac and helped to describe everything he was doing along the way. Even pointed out problem areas in the house that should be addressed I would have not known about otherwise.

Mike was very patient and spent 20 minutes and actually diagnosed the problem the first time I talked to him - over the phone! Came early the next morning with everything he needed and fixed the problem. He also made very useful suggestions about how to improve system -- will definitely look to this company to purchase our upgrade. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and honest -- he didn't try to sell us stuff we didn't need.

Won't call them again. Never got back to me to give me the estimate I requested.

I contacted Mike to obtain a quote to replace our 30+ year old AC, and he delivered a quote with 5 different options at different price points. We selected the unit we wanted, and he walked us through the installation, what they would do, described how they would remove the old system, remove and dispose the remaining coolant, and take it back to their site to salvage reusable metals. He then photographed the system, identified code issues and what they would do to fix them. We set a date for installation 3 weeks later. Mike and 2 installers showed up at 9:30 on the date scheduled and proceeded to do exactly as they described they would do. He had the same two workmen come who had installed a humidifier for us in the winter, because they were already familiar with the system. Mike was in and out, but the two installers worked hard, quietly and diligently. The old system was taken away and the new system was completely installed, tested and up and running by 4 the same day. They left the work site neat and tidy and were completely professional.

Philadelphia Gas Electric Heating & A/C installed the heater but had to come back because the pilot light had gone out. They came back and then they tried to talk me into purchasing a new water heater which I thought we didnt need.

Unbelievably fast, courteous and helpful. I called him on a Saturday morning and even though the parts stores were closed, he still wanted to come over and diagnose it. He also asked me the make and model over the phone and already had the part available. He was quite intelligent and a pleasure to converse with after the job was done. I learned a lot about my heating system which will enable me to make informed decisions when I need to purchase my next heater. I have found my heating/AC place for the future.
