I've used Generation 3 Electric Inc several times. If it's something they think I don't really need then they'll tell me and if it's something they're concerned about they'll tell me. They come really quickly, the prices are good, they are efficient, and honest. I can't recommend Generation 3 Electric Inc highly enough.
Description of Work: A transformer on the street blew so Generation 3 Electric Inc came in to tell me which appliances were shot and needed to be replaced and which ones I could salvage.

I called three electricians to bid out this project. Generation 3 was by far the most responsive and professional though also the most expensive. They set up a time to provide an estimate within a day or two of me calling. Within 24 hours of that I received a detailed estimate for the work I needed completed. There was a mistake, however, on the estimate, in my favor. I called to ask some clarifying questions and to notify Gen 3 of the mistake. They answered my questions (mostly about hardware) but wouldn't give me details on how much they charge for labor since they were quoting me a flat rate for the entire package of work. And they fixed the mistake on the estimate which resulted in about a $100 higher price. No discount given to me for pointing out their mistake. It took me a few weeks to choose hardware but when I finally called Gen 3 to schedule the work, they were very accommodating and scheduled the work on the exact date that was most convenient for me. In addition they picked up my hardware from the lighting store where I ordered it and brought it with them on the day of the install. The install was pretty good. Three very professional gentlemen showed up right on time. They put down floor coverings near the front door, moved everything that needed to be moved (including clearing off countertops), covered up my counters and began working. I was gone for the first 2 hours they were working but returned home and received a complete explanation of what they were doing and the progress being made. They worked pretty much non-stop from 8 am till about 4. One hiccup was that they had forgotten some of the hardware for one of my fixtures in a van that was no longer near my house. So they had to return the next day to finish the job. They did, however, and it's all great. Gen 3 is great. You get exactly what you expect. They are timely and responsive and very professional. They are expensive. You will definitely find better pricing, but if you don't want to chase people down to get them to work for you (something I never understand), Gen 3 is your team. I would definitely use them again.

I called Generation 3 to request an estimate for rewiring my entire house - replace knob & tube, upgrade service panel, etc. I was informed that they charge $150.00 just to inspect knob & tube. The person who answered the phone was very confused and unprofessional, for example, asking if I had the Angie's List coupon, and then realizing that offer had already expired. None of the 7 other electricians who I called tried to charge to come to my home and provide an estimate. Needless to say, I did not schedule a visit with them.

Thank you for your feedback. I can understand why you feel this way. GEN3 specializes in helping homeowners come up with customized plans to update obsolete wiring within their timeframe and budget. To do a thorough knob and tube inspection takes time so that we understand our customer’s long term needs. For inspections like old knob and tube wiring, we only send out our most senior staff because they are able to untangle years of confusing electrical work and provide the best possible information and solution for the homeowner. Even if you chose another contractor for the actual repair, I believe you would have been satisfied with our knob and tube inspection report and noticed the difference compared to another electrician’s inspection for free. Regarding the Home Inspection Report Card under our Angie’s List Storefront, the $149 offer is still available until May 31st. Sorry for the confusion. Best of luck on all your home projects.

I highly recommend them for all electrical work. Very friendly, fast and professional. I see their vans around the neighborhood and on the highway, so they seem to do quite a bit of work in my area.
Description of Work: We have used them on 2 separate occasions. First time was to have recessed lighting installed throughout our downstairs. They were fast and professional. They emailed me a quote from their iPad before leaving my house. We got the work scheduled within 2 weeks and they were done in less then a day. The house was left in the same condition they found it (they cleaned up dust etc from floors). We had a problem with the bulbs burning out VERY quickly (like within 3 weeks), so they came back and installed a grounding system. We also had a few more lights installed and our electric panel rewired.

When we went to (Member name removed) house the rewire job was extensive. What we did is do a core rewire and ran a couple of completely new circuits to get things running. Now she can get other things done at her pace. The core rewire solved the main problems.

There were two men that came so one could be down in the basement flipping breakers while the other one walked around to confirm which breakers connected to which switches. They worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally - even put little disposable shoe covers on when they came in the house. Great work.

my home is old built in 1956 so all the outlets were not up to code and couldn't handle high energy appliances such as space heaters, fans etc i had generation 3 come to my home to install several outlets including a 220 line for my new dryer and a separate outlets to support a high end air conditioner. the crew came to my house at the time specified and just went to work, the holes they needed to drill to provide new wiring were professionally sealed up. they cleaned up all debris. i have heard horror stories about some electricians providing shoddy workmanship, price gauging this was not the case with generation 3 i was very impressed.
Description of Work: I started using generation 3 electric last year due to an angie's list coupon. I am so glad I did. the electricians are courteous professional, punctual and efficient they explained things in detail before performing any work and the estimates are on the money they do not use scare tactics or try to upsell services. I purchased a coupon from angies list for another electrician to install a new outlets for an air conditioner and dryer. I totally threw it away i mean why take a chance with someone else when i have done business with a good reputable company like generation 3 electric. i think ive spent a total of 2,000 from last year to present for various work done to my home. it was money well spent as i am truly happy with the work done

Unfortunately, they did not perform the service per the ad, which was to label my circuit breaker. During the service, they reviewed it for safety issues and ran out of time to label the box (I guess i understand). Really wished they would have labelled the circuit breaker as I now need to do that myself. There was a ton of follow up service needed and they noted I would receive an estimate. Still haven't received an estimate to date. Come to think of it, i dont even know what they really did other than check the wire gauges on my circuit breaker and give me recommendations on what to update or fix...and no estimate (although noted otherwise). Im sure they will do great work in the end, but by not performing the advertised service and the lack of follow up forces me give the above grading. Maybe there was a miscommunication, but im still in the dark (pun intended).

(Member name removed) has made a valid point; we did not provide him the service he was looking for. The owner of the company went there in 2-22-2012 to perform the original inspection and panel labeling. It was not completed because of safety concerns stemming uncompleted construction and other tripping hazards. A second trip was scheduled at no additional charge on 1-19-2013. The home was still not in a state where the work could be performed safely. Home inspection and panel labeling offered on the Angie’s list are intended to be used completed homes. We would be happy to refund any money paid for services not rendered or come back after the home is cleaned for an inspection. We cannot safely turn power off and on to label the panel until after open construction wiring is completed.

When I called Third Generation Contracting did come out and give the estimate, but when I called back and asked them about energy conservation lights they never gave me any feedback. Giving me the estimate was fine, but then not hearing back from them seems like they didn't care for my business. When they came they seemed professional. I don't see the point of using a company who when you say you want work done and a few questions answered don't get back to you.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Third Generation Contracting and when I called them back they never got back to me. It was a quote for external security lights.

The workman arrived and we first reviewed the information he had been given from the estimator's visit to confirm the actual work and locations of the outlets I wanted. He did exactly as I wanted with no problems and after he tested the new outlets, he cleaned up the work area and replaced any items he had to move. Later that day I received a phone call from the main office to make sure I was satisfied with the work. It's refreshing to come across a company with employees that take pride in the service they provide. This is the second time I have used this company and would absoutely use them again or recommend them to neighbors and friends.

Had an emergency with no heat and half of electrical panel out on Saturday. Called Generation 3 because of listing on Angies List for my area which posts that they do 24 hour service. Their answering service asked if this was an emergency, took my address and email and promised to page a technician who would contact me to schedule a service call. I waited by the phone for an hour and called back. Again I was promised a call back from the technician. I waited for another 40 minutes and called their other number. Again promised a call back by the answering service which NEVER CAME. Wasted many hours with no heat and eventually called other companies who diagnosed the problem as a Delmarva issue. All Generation 3 had to do was tell me that no technicians are available on weekends. They finally emailed me on Sunday to let me know that they "do not have weekend appointments". Maybe they should change their posting on Angies List to reflect NO 24 hour emergency service and train their answering personnel to advise clients appropriately when they call needing service on weekends. Would NEVER use them again.

To do this at Night and on Sunday, when the office is not staffed, I use an answering service. I have not been able to find an answering service that can be as well informed as my office staff. I am very sorry that you were given misinformation. I know how frustrating that can be and will look at ways to prevent this from occurring to any other homeowners.

It went pretty good overall. The gentleman came and did the work. He left the receipt along with his card if I had any further questions to give him back. When I did have a question about the certificate he said it was already taken care of and that they company should be out within 24 hours to finish the work.

I contacted them in May, I forget just when. They came for an estimate and sent me a detailed estimate on 5/31. We made the appointment for 6/12, arriving around 8:30 a.m. and to be working all day. I don't remember when they arrived, but they were done by early afternoon. There was one more item in the original plan, but that required me to buy the replacement, which I hadn't done, so that was taken off the estimate and of course didn't take work time: Replace front door owner provided carriage fixture All the work was satisfactory.
Description of Work: Replacement of kitchen fluorescent fixture. Owner provided 1x4 surface mount. Provide 2 T-8 lamps. Replace owner provided kitchen fixture Meter socket (100 amp) Replace 100 amp meter socket. Grounding system Install an new 8 foot ground rod. Bond the panel to the main water service at the entry location to the building. Install a jumper cable around the water meter.

I chose this company because they were highly rated on Angie's List and they lived up to their high rating. Late arrival for initial consultation, but from then on technicians were very punctual. Tablet computers were used for estimating costs and these estimates were delivered via email. While I feel like I could have paid less by going with another company, the price was worth the extra professionalism displayed throughout week-long process. The technicians were all courteous and friendly and not "creeps" (you know what I'm talking about if you ever have had shady people performing work in your house, especially when you are not there). Overall costs did not exceed estimates and they said that they are bound to their estimates, even if it ends up being a loss for the company. The supervisor in charge of the project was always reachable via email or phone and returned my messages almost immediately. Basically, this expensive home improvement went exactly as expected and unfortunately it is not often that this happens today. There were no surprises and that is a good thing. Work took exactly as long as initially predicted by supervisor and cost exactly what was estimated. That is why I highly recommend Generation 13 electric to anybody.
Description of Work: Complete re-wiring of house electrical system. The re-wiring included replacing all knob and tube wiring in house, adding a circuit breaker box, adding outdoor connection to municipal electrical system, installing appropriate grounding, installing basement lights and a ceiling fan in 100-year-old house.
