They were professional, neat, ON TIME and their finished work looks good. The job went EXACTLY as they described. A pleasure all the way from making appointments to getting the job done.
Description of Work: They installed ductless AC/heat dual zone system. One compressor and 2 units. They passed on a better deal to us by way of taking advantage of a Manufacturer's deal and got us more BTU's for the same price.

From beginning to end this company and all of the people who work there were tops. Ed came out to assess the situation here and gave an estimate for either a central air unit using existing duct work or a ductless system with wall-mounted units. He never pressured me to decide on either system, but rather took time to outline the pros and cons of each as well as detail what the crew would have to do for proper intallation. I had heard from far too many people who live in row homes that central air mounted on the furnace often does not adequately cool the upstairs, and they end up using window units just like before, something I refused to do. Besides, the idea of cooling the entire downstairs at night just to make the upstairs comfortably cool didn't appeal to me at all either. Thanks to Ed's thorough information and careful explanation of everything, then stepping back to give me ample freedom to make my own decision, I decided to go with the ductless units. The entire crew was efficient, clean, and knowledgeable. With hard work they were able to complete in two days a job they thought would take them three. Putting it simply, they were "neat" to have around. I had agonized over this decision for weeks, but what they left in their wake was far beyond my wildest imagination! Yes, these units are pricey, but cooling is practically instant, zoned to each room, easy to control. The people who make up this company deserve recognition and praise beyond what I can give them. Pete, a company rep, responded to an installation question I had, and cam out personally to inspect it. This was resolved immediately. And did I say the crew is tops?! They rate five stars out of five!

I was impressed immediately with ECC, Inc. I emailed them a request for a quote and received a phone call from Tony 20 minutes later (on a friday night) to set up an appointment and he was more than willing to work around my work schedule. After looking at my equipment, Tony explained which unit would work best for my home (which was nice considering other companies were trying to sell me bigger, more expensive units). I received a quote by the end of that day. On the day the work was completed, Tony arrived early and worked a long, hard 8-9 hours. It was a pleasure doing business with ECC, Inc. From start to finish, they did not disappoint. I would highly recommend ECC, Inc. for all your heating and air conditioning needs.

Response from East Coast Comfort Inc
Like any other company in our industry who had to deal with obstacles created by the heat index in July of 2011, we were doing our best (and a great job at that) to accommodate and try to satisfy all of our clients with similarly related issues. Again, like other companies paperwork gets filled out insufficiently therefore it is not followed up on which is what happened in this case. This is our fifth year in business and the first time that this has ever occurred, which is one of the reasons why we consistently earn the Super Service Award and earned the recognition of Contractor of the Nation for 2010 . We do our best to ensure that things are taken care of in the most timely fashion and mistakes sometimes do happen. I have looked into this prior to replying and have reiterated to my staff the importance of communication. It is clearly obvious from our reviews that this is quite unusual. I apologize for the confusion and I would be more than happy to rectify this if given the opportunity. If this had been brought to my attention sooner (neither person in the office has a record of a phone call from you since we have been out to your residence but have made an attempt to contact you regarding payment of the service that you have indicated was completed in a timely, professional manner) you would have had your quote within 24 hours which is our standard. Once again I apologize for this confusion and your feedback helps us to grow as a company. Thank you. Sincerely, Tony Mongeluzi

My mom's a recent widow, and this was her first "big" household expense since my dad's death. My father was the kind of guy that handled everything related to the house, and my mom had a lot of trepidation about finding a trustworthy contractor. I signed up for Angie's List to help her with this decision, and I am so glad I did! Working with East Coast Comfort was an absolute dream! Everyone my mom encountered was friendly, efficient and helpful...from Mary in the office, to the gentleman (who's name escapes me) that quoted the job on a Saturday, to Tony and Ed who completed the installation of her new AC 10 days later. The cost of the job was incredibly competitive with another contractor, but East Coast Comfort promised slightly larger, more energy-efficient equipment. ECC was very approachable about the price difference, and ultimately agreed to installing the better equipment at the same price the other contractor had quoted for a lesser system. My mom was glad about this because she had a "gut" feel that ECC would be better to work with. She also had the impression (correctly!) that Tony and his team would be more reliable. The day of the job, Tony arrived first and began work, with Ed coming later in the afternoon to assist with the finishing touches. In my mom's opinion, they diligently worked on a very complicated installation, periodically reassuring her as to where they were in the process. They also were very respectful of my mom's home, and managed to clean up exceptionally well, given the size of the job. My mom continues to be thrilled with her "first" home repair, and I am so thankful that we found such terrific professionals! I would highly recommend this company to do your AC or heating project. Not only are they nice people, but they are truly experts in their field! It's no wonder they have such consistently high ratings on Angie's List...they've righfully earned them!

One of the company owners, Tony Mongeluzi, came out to assess the need for our return ductwork to be reinstalled in a more efficient way. The house was built in 1925 and the original oil heater had a large amount of supply ductwork that did not serve the newer gas furnace and central air efficiently. Tony carefully inspected all the return and supply ductwork and explained to me how both could be rearranged to create a more effective system. Tony came out with two other installers to do the work and it was completed in a single day. The completion of the work has created improved results in the overall comfort of the house temperature and humidity levels, with the exception of one second floor bedroom. Update: I recently discovered that East Coast Comfort gave me very bad advice regarding the old existing return ducts. They told me there was no need to remove the older ducts that were abandon. The older return ducts used roof rafters bays as part of the construction which was a real problem and the reason for abandoning them since the return air was not insulated. Last summer, while painting the ceiling of a second floor bedroom, I discovered very very hot air from the attic was coming thru the abandon ducts into two bedrooms on the second floor via a ceiling register in each room. The temperature and amount of hot air was similar to a small space heater on a very high temp but w a very slow fan speed.
Description of Work: Installation of new return ductwork, relocation of three return registers and one new additional register installed. Alterations and additions to existing supply ductwork including one new supply register.

We knew that our condenser fan motor was starting to go, and we were waiting for our usual HVAC company to get the part. Unfortunately, the motor died late one afternoon and we were unable to reach our usual company that day or the next morning. So we turned to Angie's list and saw the great ratings for East Coast Comfort and gave them a call. They had someone scheduled in our area already and he had the part with him so they sent him over. He arrived within two hours of our phone call (wow!) and replaced the part in about an hour and was very pleasant and professional. Highly recommended!

East Coast provided excellent service for our air conditioning unit. They came right out and fixed one problem. We discovered later that there was another problem, and the company sent Pete out again as soon as possible to figure it out. He had to order a part, but came back and fixed it the next business day. I appreciated the responsiveness of Mary in the office, her cheerful demeanor, and the professionalism shown by Pete, who worked hard and was very communicative. During this very busy heat spell, I was impressed not only with their quick turn around time, but their cheerfulness and responsiveness to my questions. I would certainly call them again for any HVAC work.

On the hottest days of the year to date, Thursday evening, about 7 p.m., July 222nd, the heat outside was over 100 and with heat index 115. Our house normally cooler than the outside most of the year was extremely hot and uncomfortable. FInally after enduring weeks of 90+ weather without any air conditioning, we turned on the air conditioning. However, nothing happened!! The fan inside would not go on but the outside unit was working. My husband went to buy a new thermostat as he thought maybe that was what was wrong. However, when he took off the old one, he could not figure out what wires to connect. By then it was already late at night. Meanwhile I asked Angie's List for a list of providers to contact. On Friday, which was even hotter than ever at 103 and with heat index of 120, I started calling people and leaving messages. Out of 3 names that Angie's List gave me, one could not help as booked for next 10 days. The other said they could come the next day, Saturday at 9. Then fortunately, when I called East Coast, they said they would send a man out between 3-4 p.m. and it was already 1 p.m.!! I was just amazed that they were able to respond so quickly. Then the man came at 2:45 p.m. When we went down to the furnace area, he showed me the problem and fixed it right away. Another provider last winter had unhooked the wire for the indoor part of the air conditioning fan unit while he got the heating one on and DID NOT put it back. So East Coast man quickly put it right back. Then he went upstairs and checked out the new thermostat. He said it had a part that didn't make contact and it wasn't worth the $50 my husband paid for at the hardware store. He even tried various batteries we had -- all wouldn't work and then he went out to car to get his AAA batteries but they wouldn't work either. Then he examined the original thermostat and said it was a good one and nothing wrong with it. It already had AA batteries and worked fine. He installed it and set it up to start. Then he checked the outside unit and when he made sure everything was working fine, he left. He was courteous and very professional. The whole visit took about 45 minutes and with Angie's List discount for service hour came to $72 -- well worth the cost. Jeanne Edwards
Description of Work: Our air conditiioning unit inside the house would not go on at all but the outside was working fine. He plugged in a loose wire that had been disconnected by another contractor last year and installed our thermostat and checked to make sure all was working.

I originally called ECC to check out our air conditioning system before the summer season started. When the came out they discovered that two of the zones had problems and could not be fixed for a reasonable price compared to a new system. The third zone they had to recharge and it worked fine. The systems were going into their 15th season and had been giving me problems for the past few years. I decided to replace all of the zones. The installation went smoothly, our air conditioning works great and we avoided another heat wave without air conditioning. The systems are also more efficient and they have UV air cleaners on the inside air handlers. The old air handlers they replaced had mold in them. ECC did a great job from beginning to end.

They were great. They were on time, expert, and very willing to explain issues and options. The final price was actually a little under the estimate. The system they installed is fantastic. What I look for most is workmanship, and even the ductwork these guys did was like a factory display. Everything was perfect, great pride in workmanship, top rating all the way around.
Description of Work: When I moved, in the heating system in this house was working poorly and the zones didn't function at all. The air conditioner was very old. Using Angie's list I selected East Coast Comfort to quote and replace the heating and AC units, get the 3 zones working correctly, install an air purification system and also a new humidifier.

No drama installation. Arrived on time to quote on job and to do the installation. Cleaned up afterwards. Appeared to bring in some other workers to help with what might have been a difficult installation. Timely communications at all times from office. Their price was about the same as another company (that I'd used before with good results) but was much lower than two other Angie's list well-reviewed HVAC firms.

I contacted ECC because of the wonderful reviews they've received on Angie's List. I had received previous estimates for this job which were higher than I thought I should be paying. They came out right away and spent several hours walking through the house and examining all options for the installation. Tony explained what needed to be done and what would be the most efficient approach. He returned a week later with a colleague to review our home again and decide how the installation would be handled. We scheduled the installation several weeks in advance. The team came as scheduled, on time, and were neat throughout the process. The job was completed within four days, as originally stated. Tony came back again to go over the entire system with me and discussed what maintenance I would need to perform going forward. The entire team, from office to installation, was handled very professionally, ensuring I was happy through every step. We have used the air conditioning a few days and it is surprisingly quiet and did the job. They were very pleasant to work with and I was very happy with the overall outcome. I would definitely recommend ECC.

one of Tony's men arrived promptly for estimate ( since I don't live in house- in fact live out of town , this was key for me) He was extremely courteous I got a call a day later form Tony asking if he could come by himself to make sure we were doing the right thing. ( this is 100 yr old plus 3 story house and never had been upgraded to central air conditioning. ) He wanted to see job himself to ensure he was quoting it properly. i did not mind this. Rather have it this way than do something house did not need.. or worse, not do the way it needed to be. He arrived promptly next time on his own and my convenience. He carefully went over all details and gave me detailed info about what he was planning to do. I felt completely comfortable with him doing this. I lived out of state and relied on Angie's list to choose my contractors. i could see why he has such a high rating. i thought he was extremely professional from beginning to end. I had to leave him work while i was not in town, so left a lock box on house. He had no problems and always went out of his way to make me feel comfortable. We corresponded via email quite a bit since i was not local and he always answered promptly and never left me guessing what was going on.I knew I was in good hands. He communicated with a stone mason that i had also doing work and had to add new basement windows. they went back and forth several times to ensure wondows would have opening for what he needed to vent. It could have been a nightmare since I did not handle any coordinating and lived hundreds of miles away, but it went without a hitch! When i came back to town, the job was installed and flawless! Would highly recommend Tony's co. to anyone. He offered to help me at the end also with any other needs i might have as i was long distance. you cannot get any better than Tony! He's a 10! Price was good too!

As promised via the initial return call Tony of East Coast arrived and confirmed the measurements for the location of the new, larger water heater. He then left to pick it up and his partner continued dismanteling to old unit. Within an hour the new unit was in and working ... the old heater was removed and the basement area cleaned. We discussed other possible options for future projects and Tony said he provide me with estimates to use when searching for contractors. No BS ... they kept it real and affordable!

We have an old three story house with radiators. We wanted to be able to have separate cooling zones for each of our floors. We received three bids from qualified contractors. Because of space constraints for equipment on the upper floors, all proposed a similar approach using a central system on the first floor and the split systems on the second and third floors. Pricing from the three bids was within 10%. We were impressed with East Coast Comfort's (ECC) explanations of the systems and the equipment. We were eligible for an Angie's list discount for ECC customers and decided to add the unheated garage/workout building to the project. ECC communicated very well about installation dates and what would happen when they were on site. There were no surprises. The workmen were professional (no profanity, thanks) and the work areas were clean at the end of each day. The installation was completed on time at the discounted bid price. We have already recommended ECC to a colleague who had a cental air system repaced. She had a similar excellent experience with ECC.

I got a 203k loan to buy my house and ECC worked with me while I jumped through all the hoops from the bank and did all the paperwork that was requested of them. The units have worked great so far. The only problem I had was that the house I bought is old and already had duct work in it and during the initial walk through and estimate I was under the impression that any new duct work would be able to be run in walls and this was not the case. The return duct work that had to be run outside of the walls was minimal and all of this was made up by the fact that certain duct work had been mangled in the basement by asbestos removers and they repaired the mangled sections and attached right onto it.

Response from East Coast Comfort Inc
It was a pleasure doing the work for you and I am pleased to know the unit is operating great. I specifically recall our initial walk through and verbally designating where the return ducts were to be located. Being familiar with the neighborhood I knew walking in there was not going to be any place to hide the ducts necessary to provide aadequate home comfort because of the age of your home. Regardless, that is why I am plelased we were able to communicate throughout the job and finish it in a timely professional manner. Thanks

Service was poor and they send a tech out and not the owner to do a expensive install.
Description of Work: Called to get appoint for installation new AC/Heating System. Tech was rude and late, said the owner will email est, week later, nothing...Not sure how they got their high marks, but happy I went somewhere else.

Response from East Coast Comfort Inc
I apologize for the confusion, my office had made an attempt to contact you via phone to have someone come back out to do a second walk through but they did not get an answer. I know originally you had called (Tuesday-5 days ago) to have one of the owners come out but a last minute service had arisen that unfortunately was an emergency that my partner and I had to address. I sent my technician out to evaluate the requested work that morning so I did not have to cancel your appointment. I inspected his diagnosis and was attempting to set up another appointment to reevaluate, that was when we did not get an answer. I cannot explain us being late. The call was set up for 10:00-11:00 and we always try to do our best to stay in the time window. I have no control of the time that any call will end, we do our best to accommodate our clients. (A lot of companies give 4-8 hour windows). For the past two years we received the Super Service Award and this past year received the Contractor of the Nation and have lived up to that reputation as seen in all other reviews. Once again I apologize for this confusion and wish you the best of luck with your installation.
