I called them with an emergency, my heater was broke and I ha d a company fix it after waiting a week for the part. They installed the part but neglected to put the heat back on because they said the system had to be cleaned. Therefore leaving the job undone, and my family without heat.I called East Coast Comfort and woman who took the call assisted me right away. The technician was at my home approx. one hr. later He completed the service, then called me at work to fully explain the service he provided. By the time I got home from work my home was warm again. Thank you so much for your support and genuine concern of me and my situation. May your work always be blessed as bless others.

Great company to work with. Very professional and did a great job with our heating unit - we need to have more heat blowing on the first floor. Ed and his team were professional, clean and respectful and did a great job. We noticed a difference immediately. They were on-time, answered all questions and any follow-up they responded to quickly. I will use them again! Thanks!

Ed, Tony, Jack and John replaced my ancient oil fired boiler and electric water heater with a high efficiency Buderus natural gas boiler and indrect water heater. The entire crew were consumate professionals, knowledgeable, responsive and simply do great work. Their price is competitve and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. I chose them based on their Angie's List recommendations...Angie's List was right. In a sea of service providers who charge and want top dollar for mediocre work, I was pleased to finally find a company that does great work for a very fair price. These guys are excellent and you will not be dissapointed.
Description of Work: 1) Tore down and removed my old oil fired furnace. This thing was a monster. 2) Removed my old electric water heater 3) Removed oil lines and capped oil lines so the tank could be removed. Since my tank is underground, I will have to get another company to remove the undeground tank. 4) Drilled 2 holes through my 19 inch thick wall...one for fresh air intake and one for exhaust. Jack spent 6 hours in the cold wind doing this...it was a TOUGH job, but he did it and never complained 5) Created a base for the wall-hung natural gas boiler 6) Installed new boiler, all of the piping, circulators and electrical 7) Created a new zone for the master bedroom by installing a new water loop in the crawl space. New loop controlled by a new thermostat in the master bedroom. We can now control our master bedroom independently of the rest of the house and it is great. 8) Replaced old thermostats with new Honeywell programmable units 9) Safety switch at the top of the steps 10) Installed new indirect water tank, connected to and heated by the main boiler

I contacted 4 different companies. Another company never showed up and the 4th company had a bid that was $5,000 more. East Coast and another company were comparable in pricing but each suggested a different manufacturer. I ended up getting a Lennox. One of the owners from East Coast came to do the estimate. He was very nice; he was great. The woman in the office was nice and got back to me with times on when they were going to do the work. They had done work in our complex so I felt comfortable with them because they were familiar. My house is 4 stories and the compressor is on the roof. They had to use a crane to install the air conditioner. They were excellent. They were in and old. They installed a new electronic thermostat. We went with a unit with an electronic purifier. I was very, very pleased with what they did and the way they did it. The house was left fairly clean. They were very professional.

On a Friday night, my heat would not turn on. It instead simply made a buzzing noise when I attempted to turn up the thermostat. I called East Coast Comfort and got a return call within 20 minutes. The owner agreed to come to my home the next day - Saturday - and to do so later in the afternoon as I explained that I would not be home from work until after 2pm. When he arrived, Tony - the owner of East Coast Comfort - tested out my heater and explained that I did not need a new one but that the fan inside of the unit needed to be replaced. He quoted a price and, with my permission, removed the old fan and installed a new one right there on the spot. He was careful to test the heater before leaving and to ensure that it was working properly. My heater has worked perfectly since. Overall, this was an excellent experience; I would absolutely recommend East Coast Comfort.

I am very happy with East Coast Comfort. They were the third contractor I called. The other two I had done business with before. One never even called back and the other one kept telling me he would get me an estimate "soon". East Coast sent a techinician over the same day and Ed McCollum emailed me that day and got back to me with two opitons a couple days later. When I mentioned that we have LP not Natural Gas he provided a third option which I decided to go with. They Performed the work when promised and cleaned up nicely when they were done. Most importantly the improvements they made to the duct work makes it so my daughters' room is no longer several degrees colder than the rest of the floor in winter (and I assume the A/C will work better too.)
Description of Work: Replaced Heating and A/C unit for our second floor, added duct work because original duct work did not allow proper flow and even heating and cooling for all rooms.

Ed arrived within the scheduled time window and finished within the estimated time period (45 minutes to 1 hour). He was a clear communicator throughout, good in both listening and explaining, courteous and easy to interact with. He performed all the routine maintenance work included in the "winter plan" that had been emailed to me beforehand. He also looked into why the intake register makes noises and what could be done about it. He was going to fix the problem on the spot if the duct allowed it (a fix he wasn't going to charge me for), but the duct was too small and didn't allow a fix there and then. He also answered a couple of other questions I had, such as the correct direction for me to put the air filter in when I change it, informing me also that I need to change the HEPA style filters more often than other types because they clog up faster. Throughout, Ed was thoughtful in what he said, making sure he didn't mislead me into thinking I had to get the intake vent taken care of immediately, but that the HVAC might have a shorter life span in the long run. Matter-of-fact rather than pushy. I really appreciated his service.

I used them a year ago for the same service. At that time, I was experiencing a leak in my chimney. Although it's not something they usually do, they checked out the chimney and made a repair to stop the leak. They saved me from having to have the chimney replaced, which I appreciated. I continue to use them because they're very personable and go above and beyond. Tony takes extra time to explain things.

Called ECC Thursday got a quote from Pete Saturday. Tony emailed the proposal Saturday night. I had a concern about the size/ capacity Btu of the furnace. Tony came out on Monday and measured the whole house he called me that night to say that I could go with a smaller 110,000 Btu size furnace and sent a new proposal. I signed and faxed it back to Mary at the office and we set up a time on the following Thursday. Tony and his partner Ed arrived 8:30am both are friendly and professional covered the floor with a drop cloth and proceeded with the job. I checked in on them form time to time with some layman questions and they were very personable and pleasant. Finished the job at 4:30pm clean up, showed me what they had done and how to opperate the new thermostat and humidistat, I gave them a check and they were on thier way with no mess no fuss.
Description of Work: Removal of my old furnace. Installation of a Lennox high efficiency SLP98 furnace, which has a variable capacity blower and variable inducer gas valve. The installation of a humidifier which works with the furnace to humidify the whole house, controlled by a humidistat. Truly a great furnace so much more comfortable and quieter than the old one. When the thermostat calls for heat the furnace come on gradually and builds, rather then oscillating on, off and on at full capacity.

What a great experience. Returned my initial call quickly and set up appointment to look at my old heating system. Gave honest evaluation and didn't try to sell anything but discussed options. The line of communication was open and all of our calls with questions were returned right away and answered honestly. When we decided to upgrade our 25 year old system with a new 95% energy efficient system they gave me a very reasonable quote. Set up a an installation date and called the night before to verify. Arrived the next day on time and were extremity professional in their installation. What my wife and I were really impressed with was their attention to detail. They went the extra mile to exceed our expectations. We feel that they gave us more than what we paid for. We felt like I was dealing with a friend. I would highly recommend East Coast Comfort to anyone looking for heating/air conditioning service company.

Tony came in, on time, and I explained the issue to him. He inspected the wiring to the thermostat, outdoor heat pump, and the air handler unit. He was able to figure out that it was a wiring issue in roughly about an hour including the time it took to confirm everything was okay after rewiring it. He also explained to me what he did and why he did it. I would definitely recommend their services.
Description of Work: The blower fan would run non stop when I turned on the heat. The air conditioning was working fine, but the fan for the heater would not shut off. This was a problem in that my heating bills were triple the cost of my air conditioning bills.

Our air conditioner stopped working. We called our regular air conditioner contrator. He told us the AC had a major leak and could not be repaired. He gave us 2 price options $6000 or $8000. We came to angies list and picked East Coast just to be sure our regular guy was reasonable. Tony took a look and said he might be able to repair it; if not he would credit it towards an new unit at $5500. He fixed the AC and saved us thousands. Also, when we are ready to replace the AC, we will be going to East Coast first. They arrived on time, knew what they were doing and are reasonalby priced. Great job.

Another contractor had installed a new air handler for my upstairs. Immediately the outdoor condenser stopped working. I checked Angie's list and called out three contractors for estimates. East Coast not only was most reasonable, they seemed to be more thorough in checking what needed to be done so I hired them. They came back to install a week later and things are working smoothly. Because of my happiness with the first job I had them come out and repair my downstairs unit last week. Again a clean and smooth job. I'll call them again if needed.
Description of Work: Tony and Pete replaced a non functioning condenser from a heat pump. They were nice, professional and did a clean job. Pete returned at the beginning of October to fix my downstairs unit - nice guys, make it an almost pleasant experience.

I purchased an old house that didn't have any type of air-conditioning. I called East Coast Comfort to get a price on running the new duct-work and installing an entirely new central air-conditioning system. After getting three other quotes, I decided to call Tony at ECC to have the work done. I chose ECC because of the other great reviews on Angie?s list. Plus, they were very reasonably priced. I work full time, but Tony was very accommodating and worked around my schedule in order to meet me at the property. We had to meet twice to go over different possibilities for running the new ducts. The final plan he came up with was great. The installation went exactly as we discussed and he was done on time. He even took the extra time and effort to patch a small crack in the concrete near my basement window! That might seem silly, but I truly appreciate someone who goes the extra mile. Tony was a pleasure to deal with. He does quality work. Plus he?s honest, affordable and a great guy. If you are looking for an HVAC specialist, I highly recommend that you call Tony at East Coast Comfort!

Our experience from beginning to end was excellent. Tony responded to our request for a proposal very quickly and was willing to come out on a Saturday morning to discuss the project. He gave us his thoughts on whether or not we should convert to gas (which we ended up doing). He also patiently answered my many follow-up questions. We chose ECC over 2 other contractors -- we liked how Tony dealt with us and his proposal was very reasonably priced. Tony also was very patient with the timing of the project, as we didn't get started until 6 months after he wrote the original proposal. When we finally contacted him to move forward, he scheduled us within 2 weeks so that we could get it done before cold weather comes. The job itself was very big, but Tony and his crew of 4+ workers completed it in 2 days -- draining all the water from our system of radiators, removal of the boilers (oil & water) and the oil tank the first day, and installation of the new gas boiler and hot water boiler the next day. Removal of the oil boiler was especially difficult -- it was a massive piece of equipment that they were able break apart and haul through our basement to the back without making hardly any mess (and navigating around all our junk down there). They also discovered that our hot water boiler was leaking and about to blow (this wasn't part of the original project); they were able to install a new one the next day without any trouble. Once the new gas boiler was installed they refilled the radiators and bleed them, and then tested the system and even discovered a faulty wire leading to the new programmable thermostat which they quickly fixed. Tony also helped me fill out paper work to apply for a rebate from our gas provider. His workers were very considerate and friendly, and didn't complain one bit that we had other workers painting our front door at the same time! We highly recommend East Coast Comfort for this type of work -- they were a pleasure to work with!
