I called on a Wednesday afternoon and set the appointment up for Friday after 3pm. Tony arrived on time and was very friendly. My unit is on the roof and several other repairman had refused to go on the roof or simply never called back. Tony did not hesitate to fix it and within an hour had it working! The price was very reasonable and I will definitely use East Coast Comfort in the future.

He was very prompt. He arrived right at the scheduled time. He started in the basement by inspecting the furnace. It is only a year old so I wasn't expecting any problems but he did a thorough job of cleaning it out and checking that all of the connections worked properly. Since I have only been a homeowner for about a year I had a lot of questions and he was very patient and knowledgeable. He then went outside to check the condenser and upstairs to my attic to check the air conditioner. Again, he answered any questions I had and did a good job.
Description of Work: I hired this company to perform an inspection of my furnace as well as my air conditioner.

I cannot say enough good things about East Coast Comfort. From the initial visit for an estimate to the completion of the project, everything was a breeze (no pun intended). I had already gotten a few estimates before Ed came, and his was by far the most reasonable. I had already read the reviews on Angies List so I knew the company's reputation. Ed and his crew were very professional and completed the work in less time than they had scheduled. Ed responded to all emails quickly and answered all my questions thoroughly. If he didn't know the answer he researched it and got back to me promptly. I had enough confidence in them to leave them my house key when I wasn't going to be home. Each day they cleaned up before they left and let me know the progress. The units work incredibly well and I am so happy I found them. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

We needed to fix the sloping of the water heater vents in our home, and we needed to do it fast because we were in the process of closing on our home and our buyer wanted a response in 2 days. East Coast Comfort, Inc. listened to our situation, and broke the co-owner out from a project they were working on to come look at our venting problem. They were quick, responsive, and very well priced. I couldn't have asked for better service. These are the guys to use for your HVAC needs; I won't use anyone else.

The 4" duct was installed in the most professional manner possible! Tony, Jack and John tackled the job together. They had to find a location adjacent to the dryer on the left wall to run the vent through the roof. It required to go past some joists, a shelf in the back of the dryer, and to go through a thick layer of insulation. I expressed concern about fiberglass particles falling into the apt., but they assured me that they use every precaution to vaccum fiberglass dust right at the source of penetration. The duct was secured underneath a shelf to the back wall and then connected to the dryer. They even installed a additional lint trap. On the roof, Tony showed me how he installed the flashing around the duct with layers of roofing cement. The entire job took about 3 hours. I'm thrilled with the result, an absolutely fantastic job done!!!!
Description of Work: The washer/dryer stack sits in a small closet on the second floor of a rental unit. According to my tenants, the dryer took far too long to dry a load of laundry. To assess the problem, I first called PC Richards, since the unit was still under warrenty. They replaced the heater and thermostat to correct a potential heating issue, but also informed me that the vent was not large enough to handle the moisture, and in addition, the PBC pipe was the wrong material for this vent and could add to the problem. Consequently, I called East Coast Comfort to re-install the vent through the roof.

My central air conditioner went down completely at the end of last Summer. It was 20 years old. I sought out and received six estimates for replacement units over the past three-four months. I found East Coast Comfort (ECC) on Angie's List and called based upon the reviews. ECC was the only company that was able to come out to my home within a day or two to provide an estimate. Pete was the first ECC employee that I had interaction with. He was really nice, knowledgeable and asked questions about my home's square footage, vents etc. that not one other company had asked. I had really old vents in the ceiling of each room that were probably over thirty years old. Pete offered to have ECC replace those vents with a more modern looking vent and a vent style based upon air flow - a detail that none of the other companies noticed or mentioned. I received my estimate via email that very evening. ECC's pricing was comparable but not the lowest. I spoke to Tony several times about ECC's estimate and also asked him about certain specifications and line items provided in others as compared to ECC's proposal. I was really impressed at how quick Tony returned all of my calls and how willing he was to go out of his way to ensure that I understood completely the scope of work to be performed. More importantly, Tony was more than willing to work with me on price. And, Tony would not sell me something that I did not need as compared to other places such as a larger air conditioning unit given my home's current square footage. The installation was scheduled a week later. The ECC team arrived on time, was friendly, thorough and cleaned up after removal and installation. The installation team consisted of Tony, Pete and a few others. ECC removed my old unit, installed the new one, and replaced all of the ceiling vents. ECC will now be my annual air conditioning service provider and I will have ECC come back to re-zone my home after planned renovations. I am also going to have ECC begin to provide annual service to my oil furnace. I highly recommend ECC to anyone looking for air conditioning and/or heating work. The company does live up to and exceed all of the reviews.

Over a year ago we contacted East Coast Comfort about a foul smell in our system. At that time they cam and evaluated both zones. We had them fix the smell which turned out to be wet insulation due to improper air flow in the downstairs zone. Later we called and asked if we could split the two zones into 2 separate jobs. That was no problem at all. This time they were doing the upstairs unit and checking on the roof vent fan. As usual the guys were complete professionals, working quickly and leaving everything as if they were not there, except now the air conditioning works correctly. I will be having them back to fix the roof vent fan and to do the annual tune up on both A/C units and any other issue I every have. The are the best!!
Description of Work: The guys fixed the botched install in our upstairs zone. They extended the trunk and properly attached each room's connectors with the proper dampers which allow balancing the air flow to each room.

Tony came out and did a full evaluation of the type of furnace/ ac system that would be most appropriate for our house including measurements. Later the same day, he sent a detailed emailed estimate for a new system. We received 2 other estimates and ECC's proposal was best. He even included additional features at no extra cost. The crew finished the job in one day and were punctual and extremely professional. The unit has been working great so far. I would not hestitate to use ECC in the future and have already recommended them to my neighbor.

The appointment went well from start to finish. The technician arrived at exactly the appointed time. He told me approximately how long the service would take and explained what he planned to do with the heater. The appointment was for a heater cleaning but he offered to check out a possible problem as to why my heater shut off from time to time.
Description of Work: The heater was cleaned and a problem with a switch was noted that may need to be addressed in the near future. The technician also vacuumed the filter. I had called another company and they were not able to get to the root of the problem whereas the technician from East Coast located the problem and explained that the faulty switch is causing my heater to sometimes shut off. So far, my heater is now working well but I plan to have the switch replaced which costs about $300.

I called ECC Wednesday Feb. 29th and explained how I needed a rush job to get a new return run to my third floor while my bathroom was demolished. I told them I had a plumber coming to redo the bathroom the next week and really wanted to get the return run while the walls were open. Tony came that Saturday to look at the job and told me he would do his best to squeeze me in during the night the next week. True to his word Tony arrived with a whole crew on Tuesday night and knocked out everything in 2 hours. I could not be more happy with the work he did and the way he came out at night after working another job all day to get my work done. I can not recommend Tony and ECC more highly. I will certainly be using Tony to install my whole house AC and heater in the future.

I feel bad that it has taken me so long to write this review! Now that it has been one full year and 4 full seasons, I can say with huge confidence that we are 110% satisfied with the work ECC did for us. First of all, Tony and his crew are very professional, efficient, kind and genuine. From the very beginning we could see the difference with ECC after having talked to multiple contractors. We bought the house with a terrible AC system that not only didn't cool the house but was costing us tons of money. Tony spent hours with us brainstorming different optimal solutions for our 4 story row home. The solution that he recommended not only cools the house amazingly well, but we are saving hundreds of dollars a month!! 99% of the time we don't run all 4 systems in the house at once, because you only need to run the unit on the room you are in. But this past summer on the hottest day of the year, we had a house full of guests! I was nervous but ran all 4 floors for days on end and no fuses blew and everyone was cool and happy!! Even in the bedroom on the 4th floor, which is a converted attic. If you turn all systems in the bedrooms on, the air mixes pretty well (stairwell, bathrooms) They found a way to incorporate each of the 4 ductless systems into each floor of the house in a way that is very subtle and unobtrusive. These units are SO quiet! Both inside (they sound like a soft fan) and I am sure my neighbors barely hear the units outside. Personally I think it is the dream solution for a row home and wonder why I haven't seen more of them! The units hang high on the wall and only need a 3 inch diameter of lines/wire bundle to run down your house, so unlike conventional AC you can easily hide these inside closets. They cool a room very quickly. Tony did not advise using the heat function to rely on solely and advised we keep our radiators. The 2 systems work great together in the freezing winter and I crank the heat up on the unit of the room I am in without having to crank up the radiators in the whole 4 stories. In fact, most of the days of winter our radiator barely runs :) So we save tons of money on heat too! We had an issue where they had to drill a hole in the brick outside the house to run the lines down to the basement from the outdoor units because when it rained some water was coming into the basement through the lines. But Tony or his crew came out time and time again to ensure it was fully sealed! Now we are all good it seems, and I have confidence and trust that ECC with come right back out if there are more issues. Here are some downsides, not on ECC, but on the ductless systems. We have one very small bedroom on one of the floors that doesnt have a unit installed, and to be cool in there we need a window unit. We didnt invest in a split system for that room because we dont use it that much. The way these systems work are to cool the space you are actually in, and not space you arent using. Which makes it really efficient (plus the units themselves are 16 seer). But you may have to walk up the stairs in some heat patches to get to the remote control to turn on the unit and get it cooling. The remotes do have timers, though but we've never used them. The other thing is that you have to acknowledge that a very hot, poorly insulated room like our 4th floor attic room will take a few hours to cool down to be comfortable. So some planning is involved (although we mitigate this by using the dehumidifying feature). But for us we are blown away that we have even found a system that makes the 4th floor usable at all in the summer!!! It was seriously a sauna up there. Can't recommend ECC enough!

Woke up to find the house cooler than it should have been. The circulating pump on the oil heater did not seem to be working properly although it wasn't completely malfunctioning either because we did have some heat. We had used East Coast last year for a different problem with the heater and had them come to take care of the a/c in the summer. Since we were very pleased with their work, we called them back. They returned the call within a few minutes and Tony was at the house by 8:00 a.m. At that time, the circulating pump was operating normally but water was leaking from the gaskets. They were original to the heater and had dry rotted. He drained the system, replaced the gaskets and a leaking ball valve at the same time, refilled the system and purged all loops. When the heater was restarted, it was clear to all of us that the aquastat was sticking and was not sending the signal to the circulating pump. It did eventually send the signal. The intermittent nature of the problem most likely explains the times over the past week or so that the house has felt cooler than it should have been. Tony replaced it , explained how it operated, and cleaned up the area. We like to stay in the area when someone is working here because we are interested in what is going on and want to learn how things work. Tony was very pleasant and willing to describe in detail what he was doing and how the parts work. We've also always found East Coast to be exceptionally fair on pricing. They don't try to make the work more extensive than it needs to be and look for the most cost-effective way to correct the problem without sacrificing future performance of the unit. He even gave us their current special discount for Angie's List members even though we weren't aware of it at the time of his visit and hadn't asked for it. We plan to use them again for any problems with our heater or a/c and will be calling them back for off-season maintenance later this year.
