Description of Work: I originally provided a very positive review. They did the work very quickly and were very respectful of my property and landscaping. There was one item that was not completed but I learned about it after my review. I telephoned Morow's and was assured someone would be out to complete the part left incomplete. That was last Fall but no one has called or come by to complete the work. I will happily raise their grade back up to an "A" if this one item was corrected.

They were pretty terrible. The guy didn't even get out of his truck to look at it. They pretty much just saw what the chimney looked like and were trying to see mostly how much he could get out of it. His price was double the price of another company. They were pretty quick.

Homeowner was not at the job location at the estimate appointment time. I prepared an estimate and trouble shot the potential job. I followed up with a phone call since I did not see or speak to anyone the day of estimate to discuss my findings. At that time he was not prepared to accept my proposal. How can you say we did not even get out of the truck to give estimate and give a bad review when homeowner was not even present for estimate!

Morrow came out promptly, gave a reasonable estimate, set up scaffolding the next day and performed the work within the week. We were satisfied with the quality of the work and very happy with the speed of completion. Our contract specified that he would re-point at his discretion. That worked out fine. They re-pointed everything that needed it. A small area of the re-pointing was a bit messy but the rest was fine. The workmen forgot to do one side of the house and we had to call and ask them to return and finish, which they did immediately. We had no problem with these guys or their work. They were anxious to please. We read the other reviews after we had signed our contract. They would have scared us off if we saw them before we signed. We did not have a similarly bad experience.
Description of Work: Reset stones at site of a bulge on the house. Spot re-pointed rest of house.

Rick Morow promised this porch restoration would outlive us both and Provia offered a lifetime warranty. We paid a hefty sum $6300 to Morow for the work. Since the stones keep falling off, I had the manufacturer come out and assess the workmanship. Provia's assessment was the mortar had not been mixed properly. (Rick had sent his son, Cole to be a helper to Ed and Vince so Cole was the one who mixed the mortar.) The stones had not been butter backed and the dirt had not been cleaned from the surface when they were placed. The concrete slab block had not been sealed so there is evidence of water leakage from the block (efflorescence). From the pictures attached there are now 24 (two dozen) stones that have fallen off. Rick Marrow ended up terminating Ed. A reputable German builder built this small plan in the 60s' ; our home was somewhat customized and well built for his son.. Rick Morow agreed to replace the buff colored bark fade brick walls in kind and restore our North facing porch , which was crumbling from Pittsburgh weathering. He won the bid in May 2013 over two other contractors because he assured me he would send experienced bricklayers, which he did. Furthermore he was confident that he could find matching brick which he did not. In response to warrantying the restoration, Rick assured me the restoration would outlast both of us. We scheduled the job for July 8 and his estimated start to finish time was one week. He was not the low bidder, but did offer a 10% senior discount and agreed to accept a payment plan. Being on a fixed income we did not have access to that sum upon completion of the job. I would call Ed and Vince his and quot;A Team. They were experienced and competent, worked well together, were pleasant,,not intrusive. In June I did call to reconfirm the start work date with Lori. Work started on July 8 as promised. by demolishing the crumbling porch. The next two days there were thunderstorms so I wasn't surprised the crew did not show . They returned on July 11 and 12 with a helper, Rick's son Cole. Rick then showed up with non-matching brick tor my approval, which he did not get. Why demolition was started before he had the matching brick is unconscionable! The solution we finally agreed upon was stone facade, Heritage Stone Drystack from ProVia products.com. Rick asserted that this was more costly material but he would install it at our contracted price. Ed and Vince resumed work July 15,16,17 and endured a heat wave. They were no shows without notification on July 18.19 (called to a higher priority job). Crew finished up on July 22 when Rick and I reconfirmed our payment arrangement..Ed and Vince came back on July 23 to clean-up. Overall we are pleased with the rustic look of our restored porch and did adhere to the payment agreement. Upon completion , I asked but Rick has not provided the lifetime warranty on the product in writing . There are aesthetic issues that need to be addressed which I noticed during my final inspection. Good business practice requires customer acceptance of contractors work upon completion . Rick Morow needs to follow-up with us, as the owner-closer. Rick Morrow acknowledged my mid October voice mail by sending Vince and Ed back on October 17 to see and hear my concerns/issues first hand. I provided them with a written punch list to give to Rick. They assured me he would respond and they would return to finish. Vince returned on November 19 and replaced the stones facade that were missing. He left a written warranty from the Heritage Stone carton in our mailbox. Rick asserted the concrete stoop steps were not level when he removed them and redoing them was not included in our contract.. However the steps were obviously placed back slanted down from right to left which negatively impacts the overall restoration of the porch's curb appeal and may pose a safety issue during inclement weather. We regret not documenting the scope of work with before and after photographs to clarify our contractual disagreement.

I think that my rating section explains this company's work. The only good thing is the mortar didn't fall out, yet. The owner came to do the initial consult/ bid and that was the last I talked to him or saw him. Sloppy work, mortar doesn't match (it's not even close). When the job was finished the workmen took the check and the owner never bothered to even call to see if I was satisfied. I never called him because I figured if he wasn't professional enough to follow up what are my chances that he'll care about the final product. Angie's List really dropped the ball with this dude.

They started the job and worked strait through to completion as far as material availability allowed. I'm still waiting on a couple of stome caps that had to be custom cut and should be here by this Friday. The masonry work is excelent and the two men who did the job (Vince and Ed) were courteous, proffesional, and exhibited an attitude of service.

We were hit by lightning and Mr Morrow came out to look at it the same day we called him. He was worried about some of the brick coming down that was loose and sent two men over that same day to secure it for our safety. He helped me take pictures to send to the insurance company and finished the job the same week. Very professional.
Description of Work: We were hit by lightning and the top half of the chimney was destroyed. Two men came over to secure the loose and bulging bricks then came out and replaced the flue and the brick later that week.

At the start of the job I got a little apprehensive when one of the 2 chimneys was repointed; it was way out of level. I addressed the issue and it was resolved by the tearing down of the chimney and leveling it out. As the job progressed unforseen obstacles surfaced and they were over come ie. The old wooden framing around the windows made it very difficult to lay new brick sills; the new brick is smaller than the old. Rick's workers over come, improvised and adapted to these issues.
Description of Work: I had Rick's crew, Ed & Vince, do masonry work on a 1930 brick home that had been neglected over the years. This is a listed of some of the work preformed: replaced 5 lentils, repointed 30% of the home, bricked in a doorway cut out (you can't tell it was ever there), expanded 2 doorway openings to come on level with the inside floor, replaced 4 capstones which flanked the front steps, rebuilt a leaning chimney by tearing down approx. 20 course of brick & leveling back up, bricked in a window opening, replaced approx. 5 large brick window sills which involved numerous intricate cuts, expanded a window opening close to its original size, resized a bathroom vent opening. replaced brick where openings were made for electric, vent an etc.

My house was hit by lightning and it cracked and took a chunk from the top of my chimney. I called Mr. Morow to inform him of my situation and even though he is 45 minutes away, he quickly shows up. He informs me that the top section is bulging and may fall down and is a health risk if it isn't secured. We go to the rook and take pictures and I send them to the insurance company right then. We get the ok from them that evening so he sends out his crew the next day to take down the loose bricks, secure and cover the remaining part of the chimney. He comes back in less than a week and finishes the job of replacing the cracked inner portion and rebuilding the top third of the chimney and replacing the cap. His crew cleaned up after themselves and were polite. I'm very satisfied with the overall experience and would recommend him to everyone that needs help.

Mr. Morow came to the house and gave us a reasonable price for the work to be done. He was very knowledgeable about the work. His crew came when they were supposed to. They are very professional and nice. It was not an easy job, especially in the heat and working with the large window. They did a fantastic job hammering off all the stone, replacing the lentils, installing new lentils and putting all the old stone back correctly. They had to remove a large portion above the bow window and did an incredible job replacing it. The house looks better than when they started. The job was finished about a week before I expected it to be. The guys are so friendly, even my dog likes them. We will definitely have them back to do more stone work.

He scheduled an appointment and never showed up. He called and ask if I would give him another opportunity to come out an give me an estimate with some lame excuse about the first appointment he missed. He quoted me a price if of $3000.00 he said to figure $1000.00 a day and it would take about 3 days. When the guys were here working and it looked like they were going to a different area I said why aren't you repointing the front of this porch they said that's not on the work order, I said that's all falling apart and he stood there and put his keys in there and said this all needs done. They called him and he said no he didn't figure that in to the price and that if I wanted that done it would be another $3200.00, I got on the phone with him and argued with him and he said I told you I had to get $1500.00 a day. His workers told me he had just did this to another woman and they were tired of taking all the crap from customers because of his lies. When he had to pick up the final payment he sent one of his empolyees and they said I can't believe that he made me come and do this. He is a rip off, I would never ever recommend him to anyone
Description of Work: 2 Chimmneys repointed, spot pointing on the front of the house and the front of a porch.
Everything was great. My neighbor had used Morow Masonry last Fall and was very pleased. Consequently, when I decided to have the repairs done on our house I contacted Morow Masonry. Rick always returned my calls promptly. He was very accommodating working around my busy schedule. The workmen showed up on time and on the days I was able to be home. The workmen reviewed what they were going to do with me and asked if I had any questions. We took a walk around the house before work began to point out any major issues. I had a bunch of items on the lower deck and they moved everything so they could get to the brick. When they were finished with that area they replaced everything and covered the items with plastic so that when they did the upper deck the items wouldn't get dirty. When the all the repairs and cleaning of the brick was done we took another walk around the house. I couldn't believe how nicely my buff colored brick cleaned up. As I commented before the house looked like a new house when they completed the cleaning and repairs. I also was very pleased that the yard was completely cleaned up after they finished the restoration work. Rick Morrow came by later in the day to checkout the work and make sure I was satisfied with everything. Overall, a very good experience and I would certainly recommend Morow Masonry to my friends.
Description of Work: Our home was built in 1969 and the brick on our home had mildew and mold and the mortar had cracked in many areas. Morow Masonry power washed with an acid bath the brick and resealed all openings. The men working even repaired an area with wood because some how the trim had fallen off. I hadn't notice but they did. They caulked the big picture windows and even cleaned the one gutter over a very large two story picture window. My house looks like a new home now. The men working were very careful and cleaned up the grounds and the decks when they were finished repairing the brick. The owner Rick Morrow came by later in the day and brought me a beautiful plant. He checked on the work that had been done and asked if we had been satisfied with everything. I certainly recommend Morow Masonry for any masonry or restoration service one may need.
