Mark started on a Tuesday. I met him in the morning to go over the project and give him a key (my husband and I work full time). He said he would be there all week. He was there for 1.5 days, then nothing. I called him that Friday, and he said he'd been meaning to call me. I think he said that EVERYTIME I called him during the course of the project, and i think he only ever called me to get paid. Anyway, he told me there was nothing else he could do until we had countertops. He'd moved the wiring for the overhead light, so its a good thing my husband knows how to attach a light fixture, or our kitchen would have been dark for the next 2 months. He caused several delays with the counters, from taking more than a week to take measurements for the granite estimate (and was off by 3"), to causing 2 weeks in delays just to figure out who we should subcontract for the granite. But the WORST THING HE DID... THE REASON HE SHOULDN'T BE TRUSTED TO WORK FOR YOU is because he GAVE AWAY HE KEY TO MY HOUSE TO SOMEONE I'D NEVER MET. I talked with our granite guy (who Mark recommended me to) and Mark, and verbally agreed that the following Wed at 9am the granite would be installed. The day after, would be for "completion" of the granite install. I told them both I would send an email to have what we agreed to in writing. Mark understood he needed to be there, and was the only person with a key. He didn't show up for completion. The granite folks called him, and he said he was 25 min away at another site, and couldn't come. He told them to drive to him and get the key to the house and do the completion without him there. They did that, and later told me what happened. I told the granite guy not to have his guys return the key to Mark. This guy has awful communication skills, poor judgement, and clearly doesn't have his act together. As soon as the project was done, he said he needed a check that day so he could "make payroll." Not my problem, buddy.
