About us
Valley Home Services is a small home interior repairs and custom cabinetry company, established in 2002, and is licensed and insured. I am mostly a one man operation, however, I do use a licensed and insured electrician, plumber, roofer, and any other contractors I may need. My State of PA license number is 43-1999411, I carry $1Mil. of liability insurance and a copy is available upon request. I charge an initial consultation fee of $25, which will be waived upon award of your project. My rates are normally $40/hr for one man, $50/hr for 2, however, right now, it is $30 for one man & $40 for 2 until further notice. For any project over $200.00, I will submit a proposal to you. Sometimes I don't know how long something will take, and we can discuss terms when this happens. I offer a 10% senior citizens discount, as well as for Angie's List members. I also offer to all of my clients free of charge annual hazardous waste recycling once a year.

"There are two sides to every story. Here's mine. First off, I felt pressured to set rates below normal because I was told he had friends that could do the work for free, he just couldn't get them there. I needed work, so I felt this was ok to do. So, if anything, I undercharged him, not overcharged. As for the unsatisfactory work, he never told me that. As for the personal time and calls "on the clock", I removed time for that from the invoices, also, those calls were pertaining to my mother who was dying in the hospital, and he knew that at the time. Some projects took longer than expected because I was trying to find help, and had trouble. Also, he went away a lot and told me that I would have to wait until he got back to keep going. As for the extra charges, there are almost always extra charges when you're doing a renovation, and the one example of double billing was because it was a mistake due to him being out of the house for a couple of months over the holidays and it simply slipped...I didn't "try" to do anything like that.If naything, there were many things I did for no charge at all. As for me talking to his friend about him, his friend was doing the same thing. Also, the customer "bugged" his own house by installing a programmable door lock with a microphone in it with web access. What paranoid person does that in this neighborhood? I grew up very near there, my pediatrician was right across the street, and I know for a fact that that is a pretty good neighborhood that doesn't warrant that kind of bugging of your own house! He already has a dog, get an alarm! I don't know why, maybe he's paranoid. I do know that the day this happened, I was calling it my last day anyway, because a few weeks prior, he quit his job for no apparent reason, and suddenly began pinching pennies and wanting a price for everything I did, and my pricing was already lower than I charge other clients, so I thought it was best for me to part ways because he was starting to have his friends do things that I thought I would be doing. Look, I have an excellent rating with another company(Servicemagic) for 5 years now, and have never had any problems like this with anyone over the last 10 years, so if you want to use this one instance to judge a company, then that's your choice. I'm sorry that things didn't work out, but not everything does end well."
