Called 5 plumbers and Horizon was the only one who called back. While on the phone, they recommended a remediation company which I hadn't even thought about yet. Both companies were out within 24 hours. The $925 only covered fixing the pipe which seems high but I wasn't in a position to shop around. They were knowledgeable and professional and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.
Description of Work: Due to cold weather, a water pipe burst in the finished basement on Sunday evening. I was able to shut off the main. Horizon fixed the pipe which necessitated cutting a hole in the drywall.

Be wary of Horizon. They are very punctual and friendly but have the plumbing "game" down to a science. They removed a clog in my sewer line (PSA ladies - NO FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS DOWN THE TOILET!). They were glad to offer me a "free" camera inspection of the sewer lines. Upon further camera inspection they said I needed to fix a section of the line outside and reline the pipes. About $10,000 but would offer it for $8,500 if I paid out of pocket. Oh and guess what?! They had an opening tomorrow and I really should get it done unless I wanted poo backing up in all my drains by the weekend spewing all over the house. Had Roto Rooter come out the next day and they didn't see any issues...... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Description of Work: Removed clog. Camera inspection and proposal for sewer line replacement / reline.

They are very polite and we have used them for about the past 1.5 years. We did have one concern when our water heater stopped one evening and they weren’t able to stop out until the following day. We would have liked if they would have been able to stop out the evening of the issue. Overall, however, we are generally pleased with their level of service. They also don't try to push sales onto us but rather are forthright and honest.
Description of Work: We have an annual contract with them to check our home to ensure our heating, AC, and plumbing are in proper working order.

We signed their contract based on their assessment of the amount of labor that would be involved: "two of us for at least a full day, maybe more." I thought that the price might be high, but for the number of man hours, it seemed reasonable. We didn't price around because we had an active leak in our heating pipes. They understood the position we were in, I'm sure. As it turned out, they were here for four hours and one of them did almost nothing more than lend an occasional hand or fetch tools from the truck. He seemed to be an apprentice. In other words we were double charged. I have learned not to hire companies that spend a lot on advertising. I'm certain that there are plenty of local plumbers who could have replaced the leaky pipes. Also, we specifically asked that they leave the copper pipes that they replaced. We discovered after they left, that they took the copper with them. I do take responsibility for not contesting the amount with Wells Fargo. I let too much time slip by because I don't like writing letters like this. At my advanced age, I shouldn't need to relearn old lessons. I paid dearly for my procrastination. Horizon owes me about $800.00 plus whatever their workers got for the copper. By the way, I am not a habitual whiner, but this time I was definitely scammed.

CONS: Exhorbitant price. WIll not hire Horizon services again. Horizon also charges a $50 so called dispatch fee. This is a rip off, since other plumbing services provide free estimates. If your prices are in line with other plumbing service companies, you will get a lot more customers. PROS: Technician was professional and explained the work he was going to do. Provided a two year warranty. However, considering the type of repair, this was not really an advantage to justify the ridiculous price!

They were way overpriced. I purchased the A/C Tuneup for $89 and next year free. Technician said a capacitor needed to be replaced. They charged $379 to replace a part that was less then $50. Took the technician less then 5 minutes. Live and Learn

We had a visit from them & as well as they are dressed, company vehicle, & all the other bells & whistles there was a major factor missing. They do not listen to what the customer wants or of in their budget! I asked with my husband there to the sales guy what would a mid grade system cost .... He wouldn't sell that he wanted us to by the 12,000 system that was TOP of the line. Biggest mistake they made was not listening to what the customer wanted or could budget.

Our experience was that everything they say in their commercials is true. We were very satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: The heat pump was not putting out hot air. We are renting so we called our landlord and they came the very next day. They said it needed a new heat strip which they would have to order. They came back on the 11th and installed it. They said there would be no charge for the heat strip since it is still under warranty. Don't know if there was a service call fee.

During routine furnace maintenance, a cracked heat exchanger was discovered, which resulted in CO leaking. A new furnace was needed. :-( |It was very cold out and the next day was Thanksgiving. They replaced the furnace on Thanksgiving Day. |Horizon is very professional and reliable. They are expensive, but stand behind all of their work.

Horizon failed to fix my furnace, and then overbilled me for a part that I did not need and was not broken. I had to hire someone else to fix the problem . Horizon misdiagnosed the problem. I would not use Horizon again.

I wrote a scathing review on their website! All reviews are "vetted!" That's why you don't see any negative reviews. Customer service did call me on Friday. Offered me a one year service contract for free. While I accepted it, I doubt I would call them.
Description of Work: Had an emergency on Sunday night, including a burst pipe in the heating system. Called them because of all the commercials and 24/7 "promises." When they called back, they said they didn't service my area. When I questioned that, they said they did. He said they could come on Tuesday! When I said I had an emergency, they said it was the best they could do. (That was before the Polar Vortex)

We first asked Horizon to come out and give us an estimate for a sewer problem. At the time we were not 100% of what the issue was. The person who came out met with my husband and gave him two estimates. One to repair a damaged trap and one to replace the whole line. We were happy with the price estimates and what the sales person had to say about the work that he felt needed to be done so we hired them. A week later the crew came out to get started. After tearing up the sidewalk and getting into the logistics of the job the crew on site determined that they were unable to do the job. All in all they cleaned up their equipment, apologized, and left us with a whole in our sidewalk and no repairs were made. The estimate of work was wrong and the job was larger than they were capable of doing. We were left scrambling to figure out what needed to be done. We have not heard back from Horizon about the situation. No customer service call, no apology from anyone in the office, no attempt to find out if we made out ok or not. We found another company to do the work for us with no problem. Seems like Horizon either didn't want to do the work at all once they saw how involved it was or they just don't know what they are doing. *Update. After placing this review I did receive a phone call from Horizon apologizing and wanting feedback on what happened. I had a nice conversation with them and they have offered to compensate us for the cost of the concrete repair since it was torn up and left undone. I sincerely appreciate the follow-up and compensation. It is nice to know that they care and are willing to learn from their mistakes.

They came and did something for cleaning, but said it was still blocked. They a man came 5 hours later than they said to TV camera the sewer pipe. He showed me that there was a big chunk of clay in the line and told me it would be $8600 to fix, but if I signed on the dotted line right there and then they would do it for $6800. I did not appreciate the salesman like practice, I thought I was calling a straight-forward plumber. I got a FREE WRITTEN ESTIMATE from another plumber for $4600. All the men were very personable. THEY DID NOT ACCEPT THE ANGIE'S LIST $50 OFF COUPON, but the man gave me $30 off for being a veteran. The FREE ESTIMATE plumber said they do all the work for my water company.

I was a new customer .Their scheduler was helpful,understanding and responsive. The plumber arrived at appointed time.He was knowledgable and he identified the problem .He provided info that refuted water company denial of responsibility. This was a very good experience.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a lack of water problem and identified the water company service as the cause.Water company initially and subsequently denied responsibility but our plumber refuted their denials.The water company finally opened one of their valves which corrected the problem.

They have always given me high prices to repair a lot of services on my home and they advertise for a $99 service call and they are not telling the truth. The only good thing is they arrived on time for the inspection. It seems like a bait and switch situation.

I originally lost heat the evening of Jan 3 (Friday) and called for an emergency repair appointment. The earliest appointment that Horizon could schedule was late afternoon of Jan 6 (Monday). I tentatively accepted this appointment but mentioned that I expected to call back to cancel since I was hopeful to find another company that could do the repair before Jan 6. I did find another company that was able to do the repair early morning of Jan 4 (Sat). Nevertheless, just to be safe, I didn't call Horizon until the morning of Jan 6 (Monday) to cancel the repair appointment. Since I learned during that call that Horizon was running a pricing special for a furnance tune-up/inspection, I requested to convert my repair appointment into a tune-up appointment for both furnances of the home which was set up for a later date. The unfortuate situation that occured was that the appointment was scheduled for Jan 15 (while my intent was for the appointment to be Jan 8). I did not recognize my oversight until Wed (Jan 8) when no service person arrived, I called Horizon to get a status and learned that the appointment was actually for WED JAN 15 (not Jan 8 as I had believed. The person who took my call was very professional and apologetic. At that point, I asked to have the appointment cancelled because I thought that Horizon had made a scheduling error. Horizon's customer service made a follow-up call to me the next day to discuss further and was able to provide a recording of my appointment call showing that a Jan 15 appointment date was communicated to me (thus a mistaken date error on my part). Even though the error was mine, Horizon graciously offered a reduced rate/price on a future furnance tune-up (appointment still to be determined). While Horizon was NOT in error, I believe the likelihood of such a error could be significantly reduced if Horizon had a procedure for send customers email confirmations of appointments thus allowing such scheduling oversights to be discovered by customers earlier. This a common practice in other industries (e.g., hotel, airline, car rental reservations).

Service man shows up, 15 minutes into inspection tells me he may have found a problem, but needs more equipment from his truck. 20 minutes later tells me Heat Exchanger is cracked, leading to extremely high levels of CO. Replacement of Heat Exchanger would cost from $2,000 to $3,000 (depending on if still under warrenty). Since furnace is 15 years old, maybe we should just replace (at a cost of $6,000 to $10,000. Oh, and the heater needs to be shut down (but he'll leave it on until his saleman get here in a bit). Make some calls, got recommendation to another firm. Their serviceman finds NOTHING wrong. Shows me how he faked CO readings. Quoted cost of Heat Exchanger at $600, NOT 2-3 thousand. Cost of new unit? $2400 to install same type of heater, $3400 installed for high end efficient heater. Many reviews on this company online, and heard same from folks I've since talked to. They are crooks, rip off folks by faking "problems" and try to sell overpriced solutions before you have a chance to investigate what is going on (who wants their heat shut off in middle of winter?). Get a second opinion.

The man completed my oil burner tune-up as scheduled. He then advised me I need a sump drain pump for my Aprilaire whole house humidifier. He proceeded to tell me how I will have water all over the floor if I don't have one because there is no place for the water to go. I told him I never had a problem before as the unit is only 2 years old. He then said he would quote me a price & came back in with his handy binder of inflated prices & told me, "the books says they cost $900+, but I can do it for about $500 and change". I then proceeded to remind him that the unit is DRAINLESS ! That was shrugged off however & he then asked me to sign up for another year service contract which he told me went up to $299. This year...thanks but no thanks....I guess if I was a senior citizen, or someone who did not know what they had as far as their system was concerned I'd be out at least $500. The nerve of this company to have people working for them that either don't know their products, or are out to rip people off...I will never do business with them again. Now as I tell people this story I hear about someone else that had similar unfavorable dealings with them & inflated prices. My only advice is to do your homework people & don't take them as your only quote !
