I live in a single two-story in a modest lower-middle-class neighborhood in Upper Darby, south of Lansdowne. I needed serious landscaping of part of my back yard, basically I wanted a sit-down-and-relax-in home "park". I tried to engage two mainline landscaping companies but, though they visited, they discovered my project would not net them the big bucks they were used to; thus, they ignored me afterwards. Via a Google search I discovered EcoLandscapes and liked the dedication to the environment and its design philosophy. The owner, Dan Cleary, visited and did NOT ignore me like the others. We shared ideas and he came up with a sketch of my future garden--I couldn't even get a sketch out of the other two. A date was set and kept and Dan and a crew team leader, Mike, regularly checked for my approval of their implementation of the approved design. There were several minor revisions through the 4.5 days, and the final product is very pleasing to the eye and low maintenance and perennial, as wanted--with various foliage colors, leaf textures and contrasting sizes. Both Dan and his crew's team leader continually sought feedback. On top of all this, The company guarantees the plantings for one year and provides a portable (fancy) sprinkler system and soaker hoses (part of the price) to insure its handiwork continues to give pleasure.

Dan returned all phone calls in a timely manner - he was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. As we walked around my property, he identified portions of the job that could potentially exceed his expertise - very honest man. He recommended I reach out to a general contractor as the failed retaining wall was already adversely impacting my back deck. I appreciated his honesty in addition to his professionalism - he'll definitely be my first call for landscaping related jobs.

This business is AMAZING! Dan is very flexible - I contacted him in May, set up an appointment, then had to postpone due to a death in the family. We reconnected about 6 weeks later, finally met, and the next day Dan e-mailed me recommendations and pricing options. Four days later he e-mailed me the contract ? very professional! And four days after that the work was done! And he called to follow up on the work, to make sure it was acceptable, and made a minor adjustment at my request. REMARKABLE! He's very responsive by e-mail, text, and phone. And the work he did was great. I definitely recommend this business and plan to call him next spring to handle the rest of my landscaping needs.

Eco was very prompt and returned my call almost immediately, came over right away, did a thorough evaluation and then within two weeks emailed me a plan and then came out and talked it over with me. I don't know if we are going to go with that particular one but he was AAA for everything upto the work. We have someone else, a friend of ours is talking to us about helping us to do it, we are just not sure about it. We can't make a decision right now about that.

Danwas responsive and easy to work with. His team installed the landscaping quickly and efficiently and they were all very nice and professional. Highly recommended!

Dan did an excellent job and we are very pleased with his knowledge, attentiveness and professionalism. He focuses on ecologically sound and native landscaping, which is of great importance to us. Dan provided a photo mock- up of his proposed design prior to installation, which was of great help in enabling us to visualize the finished look of spaces, once plants have matured. He is responsive and clearly cares about his clients and the outcome of the work. We plan to continue to rely on Dan as a trusted landscape advisor, and are using him again this spring to add perennials to several areas around our property. We highly recommend his service.

We are very pleased. Dan and his team were able to deliver on his original landscape design plan. Work was in budget. All areas of the yard where they did work look great. Dan was also great to work with - easy to contact via email and on time for all appointments. His team of 3 guys were all very polite and hard workers. Highly recommend.

It went incredibly smoothly! We described our concerns (wet portions of the property, need for screening, did not want high maintenance plantings).Dan asked a number of questions to refine his understanding of what we wanted and sent a plan within a few days. The plan incorporated plants (bushes/evergreens/trees) that would meet our needs, would thrive in that particular environment and also provide color at different times of the year. Dan sent a very clear rendering and also kept us informed as there were changes due to availability prior to installation. Dan was an absolute perfectionist about placement of the plants and spent a good bit of time arranging the plantings based on several viewpoints on our property. Dan is a very knowledgeable professional and we will definitely work with him for our future landscaping needs.

The small side yard of my house had silted up over the foundation slab, so I needed someone to regrade that part of the property to get the soil away from the frame of the house and ensure proper drainage. Dan had an interesting plan to propose, one that would have involved very little disturbance of the trees on that part of the property. Talking with him certainly helped me evaluate the other estimates I received. Though I decided to use a different contractor, I was impressed with his professionalism and would consider soliciting him for an estimate on other work in the future.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Dan took time to understand and solve our problems with water runoff. He helped us re-imagine three different garden areas (that were in bad shape) and suggested designs and plants to create contrasting visual interest. He really worked with the space, light and scale of the yard. He salvaged and replanted what we had that was healthy. Dan and his staff were responsive, punctual, efficient and professional. It was important to me to have a sustainable garden and native plants, and this is Dan's expertise. I highly recommend EcoLandscapes for their expertise, delivery and service.

Dan and his team removed all the overgrown plants, shrubs and vegetation from the sides and the front of our house. We gave Dan a general outline of what we were looking for with our house design, and he came up with a plan that was spot on the first time. He was also very helpful and willing to tweak the design as we decided to incorporate replanting some small beds near the road. Dan was very responsive -- he even answered his phone on Saturdays when we expected to leave a message -- and was flexible with the dates to accomplish the work. Dan and his team were very friendly and professional and worked hard to complete the job in a short amount of time even with a delay for a wasps' nest in one of the bushes. Overall, they did a great job. Our house looks like a completely different place. We would highly recommend Dan and Ecolandscapes.

Wow! A great experience with Dan Clearly and EcoLandscapes. Quick response to my initial calls; came out on time to see the situation. Took a number of pictures of the patio. After a slight wait, responded with a couple of alternatives, accompanied by pictures of the recommended plants, and a "PhotoShopped" view of how the patio would look. Dan communicates very well, and I could supply a few needed details, leading to a simpler process with some savings. He came on the dot of the agreed time to do the work. He and his crew were very careful, since the only access to the patio is through the house itself. It was all very interactive; Dan checked to be sure on details that had not been discussed earlier The job went like clockwork, and at the end of the day I have a gracious place I can use. Everything was left spic and span, both outside and in. Color me happy!

The bottom line: Dan and his company, EcoLandscape Design, exceeded our expectations in designing and installing a beautiful landscape. Communication and follow-through were superb. I recommend with enthusiasm. Details: Dan recently designed and installed a series of mixed perennial beds (including shrubs and small trees) for the front and sides of our house in Drexel Hill, and I couldn't be happier with the process or the results. We moved into this house this past winter, and while there were some existing plantings, we wanted a unified design that would enhance the appearance of the house, provide some screening of our side yard from neighbors and the sidewalk, and be both wildlife-friendly and relatively low-maintenance. We also wanted something more creative than standard foundation plantings. Dan's approach to the design was thoughtful and responsive -- he addressed all of our requests in creative ways, happily incorporated favorite plants (sometimes steering us toward alternatives he thought would be better for the site), was patient with questions and requests, and delivered beautiful renderings. He was mindful of budget throughout the process, suggesting how we could achieve the maximum effect for the money. The installation went off exactly as planned, and Dan's team was friendly and professional and left the site tidy each day. Dan walked us through the finished plantings and thoroughly explained the temporary timed watering system he set up as well as suggested maintenance. He has checked in since to be sure that everything is thriving. Dan is extremely responsive and provides excellent customer service. He answered questions via email almost immediately and made several stops at the house to explain things in person. We made a few changes and additions mid-installation, and Dan took it all in stride and seemed to care only about delivering a landscape that we would love.

Professional crew did a great job on a front and back yard that required a lot of manpower to clear and beautify. My yard hasn't looked so good in a long time.

This was the easiest and most pleasant experience I have ever had with any contractor. Quick response to the first phone call. Showed up promptly for first meeting. Listened carefully to the issues and needs. We have a sloping backyard with an erosion problem that has worsened over the past several years. Two other contractors proposed solutions ranging from $10k to over $20k. Dan proposed a simple solution at just under $2300. He paid careful attention to the site and discussed the proposed solution with us. He took pictures, and with his bid he submitted a mock up photo of how the site would look after the work was done. The day of the work, Dan went over the site with me again and discussed explicitly what he would be doing and where, to make sure we were on the same page, before anything was done. It now looks exactly like his mock up photo promised it would, only even better. Dan allotted two days for the project but actually completed all the work in one day. The rest of the yard looks completely untouched, as if no one had been traipsing back and forth carting loads of rock and planting materials all day long. Dan was extremely polite and respectful in every interaction. You could not ask for a better experience. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a landscaper. We will definitely go with Dan for future landscaping needs. Top notch all the way around.

What a great company to work with! Dan came to our home early, listened to our wants and then provided a mock up of what our plants would look like. He also gave us details on each plant. Was very up front on cost and was willing to work with our budget. His crew was also great! Dan was extremely responsive to emails or calls. We would definitely use them again.

We have owned our Victorian Twin for almost 15 years and I have spent every year since we bought the house trying to make a desperate attempt at a low maintenance, sustainable, garden for our front yard sun garden and backyard shade garden and every year our sun garden is full of weeds and our shade garden barely has vegetation. This year I was determined to change my failures and invest in a garden design and have someone professional install it. So I researched landscapers and gardeners on the internet and on Angies list and Dan Clearly from Ecolandscapes popped up. He had very good reviews from a variety of different gardens in the Philadelphia area. We wanted something that was beautifully designed, sustainable, and with not a heavy amount of maintenance. As soon as I talked to Dan Clearly on the phone I knew he would be right for us. He was extremely responsive both by phone and by e-mail. Most of the landscapers that I had called never picked up the phone and he immediately answered. When he came to our house he was extremely punctual. Dan spent a good amount of time assessing the garden problems and getting a sense of what we wanted within our budget. He was able to look at our neighbors gardens and show us what were good plants and not so good plants and you could tell by the way he talked about the various plants that he was super knowledgeable and passionate about sustainable eco friendly garden designs. After he left, Dan told me that he would e-mail a design to us but I did not know what to really expect. Let me tell you, I was fairly blown away. He took pictures of our current garden and made a digital representation of the new sun/shade garden and showed how the gardens would look like each season. His grasp of technology was amazing. We really could see what the flowers could look like in our current garden. In fact, this was a super key aspect of the process for us. Dan was patient and we went through five designs to come up with the shade and sun garden that would best represent our tastes and matched the style of the house and character of the block. This alone was so key. I don't know any landscaper who would have this level of patience let alone technological savvy so that we could see a digital representation of the garden before the real thing gets installed. When Dan Clearly and his crew finally came out to install the gardens everything in the layout of the designs was brought to life in both the sun and shade garden. It just translated perfectly. Dan left the tags for us on each plant so that we can identify the plants in the garden so that we can see them grow and then also installed a very simple electronics sprinkler system so that our garden could be fed water without us having to be bitten by mosquitoes all summer. I was really so impressed with the work that Dan Clearly and his crew did that I asked them to come back to do some additional work laying some ground cover for the shade garden. All our neighbors on our block (many are avid gardens) were quite impressed with Dan's selection of plants and the way in which he installed the garden. As the garden continues to grow we get complements all the time from neighbors and people walking down the street. I can't believe I did not do this sooner! I also want to point out what a thorough job Dan Clearly and his crew did to remove all the debris and plants that had been over grown over the years in our old gardens. It's really a transformation! During the install, Dan Clearly and his crew also set the old plants aside from our garden to give to our neighbors. This was a very green approach and thoughtful to the other neighbors who could use other flowers in their own gardens. In short, Dan Clearly from EcoLandscapes to me went above and beyond and really provided a cutting edge service in garden design with their digital design representations. It was truly a collaborative process and the more we deepened our specific ideas the more Dan was able to fine tune and come up with two sensational garden designs that meet our needs. Really finding Dan Clearly on Angie's list made the subscription fee so worth it. I could not have found Ecolandscapes with out this great service on Angies list and I hope to use Dan Clearly again and recommend him to other folks in Philadelphia who also have a small garden that they do not know what to do with. Five stars to Ecolandscapes for exceptional design and service!

Excellent. Dan was extremely responsive, punctual and professional. Work turned out great and I would definitely recommend.

It went well. Dan did the work on schedule and came on time. Also, he was responsive when I asked for help after heavy rains. He re-seeded twice and restored a few breaks in the berm. This was a terrible year for rain damage and Dan was very responsible. He returned to modify the swale design to control water flow. His warranty is two years and I am sure he will be back next Spring to do some finishing touches. He was easy to work with and creatively investigated several solutions to the problems at my home.

Dan did a lawn rejuvenation for us in the spring. When large areas didn't take he came back and re-seeded. the this fall he came again to reseed avid will come again in the spring to lay down natural weed killer and reseed again. Dan uses only natural products. Mane really is a well trained horticulturist who cares about his clients. We would recommend him highly.

When we bought our house earlier this year, we inherited a yard that needed lots of TLC. We did a lot of it ourselves when it came to weeding, trimming bushes and mulching. But we do not have green thumbs and when it came time to do some planting along the back property line, we knew we needed professional help! After getting a few estimates, we ultimately went with Dan. He really listened to our likes and dislikes when it came to plants and maintenance requirements. He came up with a couple of different design ideas, emailing us detailed lists of the plants he proposed using along with photos. He even took photos of the yard during the estimate and added plant photos to them so we could get an idea of how it would all look together. He and his crew showed up right on time and on schedule, no small feat after all of the rain we had this summer. The plants and bushes he installed are all of a good size and very healthy looking. When after a few days we noticed a bush that had a large branch broken, he responded to my email right away saying he would replace it immediately. I loved working with Dan and already have plans to call him early next year for our next landscaping project!!

Dan came out and did a thorough examination of what we had in the front of our house (a lot of pachysandra) and then followed up with a digital image of what his recommendation would look like. I gave him a strict budget and he kept to it. Everything looks great and with the automatic watering system that he installed the plants are doing well. He has come out twice because I had asked a few post-install follow up questions and he just wanted to see for himself. Amazing choice - great service - and I'd recommend to anyone.
