Alliance Chimney & Energy Inc

A little late to start, though he did call and tell me he was coming from a distance. Once arrived, performed the cleaning and inspection of chimney. Was told that our chimney was no longer functional without serious repairs due to cracking etc... Photos taken to show the problems while he was on the roof. Probably will be using Alliance to install a gas unit in the future.

II would say it went very badly.The man who came was polite but in evaluating our chimney told us that we could do nothing to correct the condition of the chimney except to either put in a wood burning stove or a very expensive cement liner. He explained that the only stainless steel liner available for this chimney would be too small for a fire to draw. I asked him to clean the chimney which he said he would. I paid him and he left. I got a second opinion from a reliable, word of mouth source and on doing a new inspection told me and showed me from a camera view that the chimney had not been swept at all, only a dusting around the fire box itself. The man also broke the large slate covering the trap in the fire place. He did tell me this however. To charge $265 for not cleaning the chimney, lying about it and giving me no help other than selling me an insert I clearly didn't want is atrocious. I have dated photos of the unswept chimney if Angie's list or Alliance would like proof. Also the company who gave me the second oponion has an altyernative for fixing the chimney which seems a viable choice.

Alliance was very quick and easy to work with. They came out and went over the options for our insert with us, we ordered one and it was installed a few weeks later. We use our insert to heat our house and have been very happy with both the equipment itself and the service provided by Alliance (from installation to annual cleaning).

They came in and did the work and it was great. They did it the same day I purchased.

They never came back to finish. One of my reasons for having an intermediary company like Angie's List is to hopefully screen out the crooks so that I could wind up getting down to business and getting what I need done done. But unfortunately, it has panned out to be other than that, multiple times. They're another example. There was inclement weather. So, they rescheduled several times. When they finally came out the weather was inclement. They didn't complete the scope of work that they were paid for. They never contacted me afterwards. Honesty, I don't have the energy to chase behind people. So, I haven't even followed up with them.

Despite the fact that they weren't able to complete this job, we would recommend them and use them again. They were very knowledgeable, hard-working, and honest.

It went very well. It required 2 crews. One for liner and 2nd for outside chimney work. Explained what needed to be done and answered all questions. Very professional. Would use again and recommend to others.

This was one of the most positive experiences I have ever had with a home improvement company, and I have had many positive experiences in the past. My chimney has been slowly falling apart for a few years --- dropping stucco, exposed block at the top, and in a general horrible state of disrepair. I contacted two companies, one of which was Alliance. Chuck called in response to my e-mail. He was easy to talk to and preferred to see the chimney in person rather than give an estimate based solely on photos. We scheduled a time (he came out on a Saturday morning which was very convenient for me). He assessed the chimney, made some recommendations and gave me some good advice. I was impressed with the description of the repair, and happy that he was not trying to tack on a lot of extras. Quite the contrary. He answered my questions and showed me what needed to be done, and showed me optional work that could be done, which we decided was not something I needed at this time. The work was scheduled for the following Tuesday. The crew arrived promptly.. They did not need me to stay at home, I was not there as the work was being done, but could follow the progress when I got home. The work they did was absolutely beautiful. My chimney looks better than it ever did. My neighbors are also very impressed with the job. They enjoyed watching the progress out the window each day, and said that the crew members were respectful and neat. I can't imagine any company that could have done a better job, and who would have been nicer to deal with. You won't go wrong by choosing Alliance for your chimney and fireplace needs. I'm hoping to convert my fireplace to gas in the future, and I will not hesitate to contact Alliance for the job. Thanks so much for taking a deteriorating eyesore and turning it into a beautiful part of the house.

We contracted Alliance to install a chimney liner to connect to our oil furnace. Mike was extremely helpful in explaining all the details of the installation, including the sizing calculations, chemical reactions, termination tee, materials, crown, and cap. Understanding the details was important to me because a chimney liner is not something you can see and feel but is ultimately very important. Installation went completely flawlessly. I was texted a picture of the view from the top of the chimney, showing the cap and finished crown which was much appreciated. The price was MUCH less then competition in our area for exactly the same work, right down to the brand of chimney liner. I guess you must need to pay an extra $1000 for them to wear a top hat to your door, because that is literally the only difference I found. I will certainly be calling them back when it comes time to sweep the chimney.

I originally called because my home inspector, when I bought my new house, advised having the flue "cleaned and inspected." Mike from Alliance was very professional in explaining that it didn't need to be cleaned once he got here and saw what I had, and he didn't charge me for the inspection since he gave me a replacement estimate. I feel like my home inspector set me up for a situation where I could have been taken advantage of because of not knowing exactly what I needed, but Alliance was very honest about what needed to be done and what was a mistaken on my part - not charging me for extra services that I didn't actually need. The replacement estimate is about what I expected and I will most likely call this provider again in a year when it needs to be replaced. Mike explained everything that he did to me, was very straightforward, and did a thorough job inspecting the flue. I'd highly recommend Alliance to others.

It went fine. I hadn't had it cleaned for several years after a company in the city got soot all over. Alliance was perfectly clean and no trace of any dirt at all.

I've gotten a couple of people out to look at it and I chose Alliance. I had a fireplace done so he had to put the liner in from the top and then pull it down. He had a team who did that. The gentleman who owns the company is very courteous. His workers were good. He's very responsible.

When Chuck came to do the estimate he was prompt and explained everything well. Dave and Mike, who completed the work, were also prompt and professional and left my basement cleaner than how they found it. Great work.

Great. Two guys called and were running early - arrived twenty minutes ahead of schedule. Very professional, inspected both gas fire place and downstairs equipment. Good with our dogs and friendly. Provided free inspection of current chimney and fireplace set up - then proceeded to replace chimney cap. No sales pressure, just great advice on our type of fireplace and suggestions we might consider in the future. Work done in about 30 minutes, I paid 100 cash and got a receipt outlining services completed. I would recommend and use them again.

These guys were great, start to finish! Chuck immediately responded to my call, and came out a few days later to provide a free estimate of the work. He gave me a very detailed written description of what work they were going to do, so there were no questions. When the crew showed up to do the work, they even took their shoes off when they came into our house! I was happy that I was able to get Alliance because I had another company come in and say they would have to do the job all over. The repairs would cost me $400 from Alliance and the other company was going to charge me $900. UPDATE: A different tech came out and changed the material on one section -- which isn't what I wanted. He wasn't accomodating to what the gas company said it has to be. He said that they were right and that the gas company was wrong. He lied to me.

Did not go anywhere, wanted to charge me hundreds for a basic estimate.

They would not honor the deal as the company wanted to perform extra services that I did not want.

Excellent service, prompt, careful. Even secured a drain pipe on my roof. Highly recommend.

Alliance was prompt and professional. They called when enroute, put a drop cloth on the floor and answered all of my questions. Will use Alliance Chimney for future work.

It went very well. I called Chuck on a Saturday after my furnace inspection revealed a potentially dangerous situation with the water heater exhaust. Chuck came out the same day, even though it was short notice. He gave a simple, competitive estimate in writing. I scheduled the work for the following Saturday and Chuck was able to come out earlier than planned, which was good for me. He completed the work as planned and the exhaust problem is solved. He lowered the original price since the work was less involved than he expected. I'm very happy with his response and work.

The guys that came to the house were very friendly and able to explain the steps they needed to take very clearly. They worked very hard to do a thorough job on a difficult chimney. I'm very pleased with their work.
