The job was started when agreed on. work was carried out with a minimum of disruption. we were kept informed of details and progress. cleanup was complete when job was complete.
He presented me with a contract that said "The job would cost NO MORE THAN $1,608.21." So, after the $1,500 deposit, I was looking at no more than $108.21. He said this protected me in case he hadn't made an accurate estimate. He said the workers would be here at 9 the next morning.
The next morning, the men called at 8:30 to let me know they would be there in a half hour. They arrived right on time and set to work immediately. They were very careful with my house when removing damaged stuff from the basement. I did not have an easy exit, so they had to go through the living room to the front door. They didn't make any mess or bang things around, etc.
They were done in 4 hours. The lead man took me downstairs and explained the work. It turned out that when some of the damaged items were moved, they found that the area needed to be clean and sanitized was larger than expected. This is where the "NO MORE THAN" clause really came in handy. They had also cleaned about 20 items that were plastic (non-porous).
I was thrilled with their work. In the last flood, I had had Stanley Steemer in. They charged a lot more. They were surly. And they charged a lot more. Just today, I received an Evaluation Sheet from them. They really care about their work.
I highly recommend Damage Control for this kind of clean-up. They were prompt, honest, accurate, and careful.
