Stan the Hot Water Man

The technician returned my call within minutes, and was out here to fix the water heater, within the hour. This was on a SATURDAY, before a big evening dinner, I was planning. He was very efficient, prompt and courteous. I will definitely be a loyal customer.

Other than us feeling crazy for not finding it ourselves and saving the $50, we were very glad with the result of a lot more hot water.

It was a simple transaction. They were professional, on time, and knew what they were talking about.

Our 13 year old natural gas water heater was supplying tepid water and running out of heated water quickly. I thought because of the age of the heater we needed to replace it. The receptionist at Stan's stated it might just be a part and a repairman would call that morning. He did and arrived 2 hours later! He examined the tank and determined the dip tube had cracked over time allowing the hot and cold water to mix. This was on Friday morning. That evening at bath time I discovered rust in the bath water. The water was rusty Saturday also. I called Stan's, and a technician later returned my call advising the rust should settle over a few days. Jordan called on Monday and drained the tank without additional charge. We have had hot clean water since.

Overall very pleased. I called at 8:20 pm, they said the on-call guy would call me back. When he hadn't called by 9:00pm, I called again and the on-call guy was just responding. He was in a nearby neighborhood and was able to be at my house within 40 minutes, and he was! He quickly took care of the problem, put it all back together and was done within 20 minutes. He was very polite and answered all of my questions. There was a small 'overtime' charge for the weekend, but it was worth it to get this taken care of so quickly.

They hauled away the old one. The service was great.

The main office answered the phone in person, answered my general questions, and provided a ball park price and bid based on my description. Mark returned my call, provided detailed information, and answered all my questions as to type, brand, size etc. Mark set up an appointment and on the morning of the appointment called to verify I was at home and that I still wanted the water heater. He arrived on time, removed the old tank, installed the new tank, updated the gas line to meet code, and cleaned up. Overall this was a great experience!

Called the company. I was told Scott would call to setup an appointment. Got a call from Scott and met him next day. We went over several options/sizes and he gave estimates for each and I decided to include the PRV as well at that time. The work was to be done the next day but he called and postponed for a day because the PRV part was not available until the day after. The water heater was installed couple days later along with PRV, and an expansion tank. He filled the tank and pressure tested it and everything was fine. That evening there was a leak from the TPR valve area. Called the company and was told someone would call me right away. I got a call shortly and I explained the problem and since it was a small leak he told me Scott will be there to fix it tomorrow. Scott showed up the next day and fixed the problem. Scott does a good job. However, the leak was preventable and that is the only reason for B grade on Quality of Work. No biggy.

I noticed my hot water heater leaking all over the garage. It was 4:40 pm. I called the electric utility company because they 'diagnose' hot water heater problems (even though mine is gas). They don't service gas but recommended Stan the Hot Water Man. I called and ten minutes later I had Bud scheduled to come out first thing in the morning. He determined the leak was from the main tank, which meant the unit had to be replaced, not repaired. It was only eight and a half years old so he said it must have been faulty. I said 'get me a good one this time!' He left and bought me the same water heater he has in his house, installed it, explained how to adjust it, and hauled away my old one. He was done in about two hours. He was very personable, courteous, and efficient.

They replaced my 23 year old 40 gallon water heater within 24 hours after calling. They were very fast and efficient. I initially ordered from Sears but didn't like all their hidden charges, so I canceled with Sears and called Stan. They were actually cheaper than Sears and faster.

He fixed it within 24 hours of my call. He seemed very capable and professional. He kept me informed of what was going on. The receptionist was (refreshingly) very nice and helpful when I called.

Tepid shower water temperature greeted me on a Saturday morning, the day my daughter was to arrive for a visit. This was just after our big windstorm. After the "oh NO!" panic, I visited Angie's list. I feared I'd not get service quickly but the receptionist put me at ease. I was contacted quickly but the timing was for after 5 PM and I had a concert performance. He came instead first thing on Sunday (WOW!). The extra for weekend service was $30 (so total paid was $100). Though the problem was ONLY the pilot light, he answered a slew of questions I voiced about water heaters in general and how it went out and how I could maybe do this on my own in the future (he said many do re-light their own pilot lights once they know how). Turns out that the overhead vent was a pathway for those excessive winds. Guess I learned that my water heater does a great job of maintaining the heat in the water since it lasted a couple days for me!

The guy was nearby when I called, and came right over. He found right away that there was nothing wrong. The pilot was hard to see and the settings were not correct with the two water heaters working in tandem. He made adjustments and assured me there would be no service call if he needed to come back and replace the adjustment knob on the one water heater. He was great at explaining how our system worked (we're new to the house). Very helpful and worth the service call.

I appreciated Rick's quality work and thoroughness. I was glad that I did not need a new water heater as it was only 10 years old. He was very good with answering all of my questions and I think this company has a very competent and professional employee with Rick.

Brent arrived perfectly on time; promptly identified the problem; replaced one of the thermostats (lower thermostat), and one other part. Water heater now works like a charm and no more cold showers (yippee!).

Job was very simple; I described the problem over the phone and the service tech knew very quickly what the issue was. The only negative was that they arrived late and didn't call to let me know; the planned time was 11-1 and I had to call when they didn't show up. The tech eventually showed up around 3:30 and fixed things very quickly, and ensured the fix worked. In fairness the weather was terrible that day with some power outages which held him up.

Excellent job. Mark, the installer, did a good job of communicating his schedule, following up to confirm that he was on the way, arrived on time and completing the project within the time frame he estimated. The project included the addition of earthquake strapping, which required a change in the inflow plumbing, which was not included in the original quote. As a result, the costs were a little higher ($20) than estimated, but Mark carefully explained the change and got my approval before proceeding. The workmanship looks great and after two months the system has been trouble-free. We also seem to be using substantially less gas, maybe as much as 30%-40%. The only shortcoming came during the original quotation process. We ended up buying a more expensive,higher-efficiency water heater than the standard unit Mark originally quoted which I'm convinced will save us money in the long run. We got what we wanted, but wouldn't have known about this alternative if we hadn't asked.

Very honest - told me I did not need a new hot water heater. The service call charge was very reasonable. Other plumbers would have tried to get me to replace it, but he explained why my heater was producing water that was a little dirty because the water had been turned off temporarily.

Excellent service. A serviceman, Rick, called me immediately, after I talked to the dispatcher. We set an appointment for the following day, although the same day service was offered. Rick called the day of service, to ask if he could come 1/2 hour early and then arrived promptly. He quickly took care of the problem, described what he had done, answered all my questions about his work and some other work I was considering having done. He was completely professional and left a reference number, in case of further questions. I would use this company again.

Darrell was able to come and diagnose my problem on short notice- the next day at the one window of time I had available. It turns out the capacity of the natural gas line feeding the appliance was insufficient. This was due to an oversite by the installee, not with Stan The Hot Water Man. For our short term need, Darrell devised an inexpensive solution that keeps our water temperature a constant rate, leading to far more pleasant showers. He also gave me the knowledge I needed to have the issue corrected for the long term. This was an excellent experience.

Found the work to be done timely and for the amount quoted.

They were always right there! Always was available for us. It was very hard to fix, took his time doing it, he knew exactly what was going on and was always in control of the situation.

The installer did a good job and pretty good job of clean-up after completing the installation. The only thing I would have asked if I had been home during installation, was to clean-up dirty finger prints around the counter on the sink. Otherwise, the person did a good job and seemed to have good experience.

Told us he'd arrive between 9:00 and 10:00. He arrived a few minutes to 10:00. The job took almost 5 hours. He had to leave to run to Home Depot to get a part. Friendly and professional.
